Month of December - WISH Team Walkers and Runners

I love seeing all the work and all the miles being put in!!

DH is still plugging along for his Goofy training!

I have a bit of a problem... Trochanteric Bursitis (in my hip) I'm following PT and trying to move a bit (about 1 - 2 miles at a time) its intense thats for sure!

I'm starting to get nervous tho...

Syko- Congratulations on the 2nd place.

The weather was gorgeous here tonight so I went out and did just under an hour. I had to do the thing I hate more than anything last week...head to the gym and run on the treadmill. It takes a lot to make me do it but I was going to be stuck down in central Ohio for two days with work and would rather hit the treadmill than do nothing. It was so nice today though and this time of year you go out and get in the miles on the days the weather cooperates.

I'm getting a bit jealous of all you folks tapering for January. Hope all the miles are in and you all feel ready to go.

I have only one more long run before January. This Saturday I have 12 miles at Kelly Drive. I can't wait for it! Nice and flat and hopefully lots of people out there for the day. Oh yeah, hopefully sunny and not freezing too.

Hubby and I both did 8 yesterday INSIDE. I hate that more than anything. Need to do 9 next weekend and 10 Christmas weekend and a nice slow down leading up to the 1/2. Really getting excited. Can't wait to meet all the Wishers.

Doing my 20 miler this weekend - not looking forward to it but I know I have got to get it in. I have been trying to take it easy since I had some pain in my hip and leg (piriformis) also busy with Christmas stuff and I am still not done with gifts.

After I get my 20 miler in the I have a 12-14 miler Christmas weekend and then an 8 the next and OMG can't believe the Goofy will be here that SOON

6o miles done in 4:49, and we made it back before it got dark!!!!

Will probably do 20 tomorrow around town.

Everyone is talking about tapering.....I don't taper I just only do the race distance on the day.

Tricia Sounds like we're in the same situation. I have my 20 miler this weekend, adn even after a week off running, I still have some non-usual leg pains (quad, knee) I'm trying to do a positive psych job on myself. One way or the the other....I'm going to finish that marathon.

I have to admit, I'm getting a little angry---how can I do all this training and have it go pretty well, and then have stuff crop up at the last minute?

Maura

Hi everyone! Got out last night and did my 5 miler. It was pretty chilly, I think with the windchill it was about 15-16F but I figured since the roads were dry, I might as well take advantage. The wind was really bad on the main roads but once I got back onto residential streets, it was much better. I'm hoping the roads will stay dry tonight as well.

Maura - pixiedust: for your knee and quads. My training goes a little like that too I've found. The beginning is great but I tend to get a lot of aches and pains in the middle and then it tapers off the closer I get to the race. I'll never understand.

Tricia - Take care! I've had piriformis/hip pain before and it is no fun. Good luck on your 20 miler this weekend!

Kirstie - 60 miles! Wow! You go girl! That's awesome :)

20 miles done today. I'm hoping to do the 60 miles trail 2 / 3 times a week.

I'm off to play with the other chair on friday......I can't afford to buy it, but theres no charge to go and play!!!!!

Tricia & Maura - :wizard::wizard::wizard: I highly recommend massage for musle isssues. Tricia - Especiallyp piriformis.

Ugh work calls. Good luck on all teh LRs?LWs this weeknd!

I'm in

I took a chair for a test ride yesterday and :hyper: :jumping1: it can go 20mph FASTER than my chair on the flat. (I can get into the 20 mph range)

Now I just have to work out a way that I can get one :scratchin

Any ideas??:listen:

Now I really need to get a secound chair......my has just broke. The frame has snapped.

Tricia & Maura - sending pixiedust: your way.

Well if it snows at WDW on marathon weekend I should be in good shape. We're in the middle of a major snowstorm today and I went out and walked approx. 3 miles in the snow. (They don't call me Goofy for nothing :lmao:).
Actually had to get something from the store and didn't want to drive, so I walked. My quads were a little sore, I guess from trying to walk without slipping and sliding.
It actually felt good to do something as I've been battling an upper respiratory issue. Dr. put me on steroids for a week and all I wanted to do was sleep. Feeling better now, but lost some training time. Don't think I'll have a taper (since I already had a rest week), so I'll just continue with training right up until race weekend.

20 is done. So bad....don't want to talk about it. Hope to regroup within next 3 weeks. Bye til then.

Got my 20 in today. I had mild hip and leg pain but only after about 14 miles and mainly when I would walk for too long. Trying to work out a run 5 walk 3 interval but since I did the 20 inside on the TM I made it easy and did 5 run walk. I had to get new shoes yesterday and I wore them today for the first time (hence doing the 20 on the TM) I had to adjust the left shoe and add the arch insert so it was better to be inside than to be 10 miles away from home and have problems with the shoes (well it was less than that when I realized I needed the insert but knowing me I wouldn't have turned around even if I was only 1 mile from home.) I managed a 13 1/2 minute mile pace so I am happy.

Hope others did ok with their long distance runs today. I am sure many got their 20 milers in this weekend. Can't believe marathon weekend is going to be here sooner then we know it!!

Maura, when I see you Friday at the WISH meet, I'm giving you my cell number. Call me, and I'll come back out to the course to help you finish. You motivated me last year, so now it's my turn to return the favor.

The last Honolulu Marathon Clinic meeting and run, followed by the bragathon picnic. 8 1/4 miles followed by lunch in the sun.

Jeff - that looks AWESOME!!

DH got his 20 miles in today - in 30 deg weather - black ice was a bit of a problem for me!

Santa came early :woohoo:

I got a sponsor for my new chair and the company that make it are letting me have colors they have not offerd for 5 years!!!!:worship:

I did not really like any of the colors offered so my Dh asked if they had any of the old ones left (I wanted these color 5 years ago when I got my day chair, but they had stopped them :sad1:)

They had a look and said that I could have them.:cheer2::cool1::banana::woohoo: As long as there is enough left.

They are very shiny on the metal, not like in the sample photos.
