Monsters, Inc. May - move like Roz is watching challenge

20 min 5k! OMG I don't think I could ever run that fast even in my dreams! I'm a solid 30-40 min 5k runner (depending on health, weather, training and the course) and after 4 years of training I know for certain im happy with that. As long as you're having fun- that's all that matters!

He is 6'3" and all legs, so I think that helps with the speed (comparatively, I'm 5'6" with teeny little crocodile legs). ;) I'm glad to have seen all the positive responses to my time here- I didn't mean to belittle anyone else's run times, I honestly just have nothing to compare to but his times so I thought I was doing a terrible job. :P

After a few pretty much sedentary days, I went out for a run this morning ... total of 87 minutes (including warm up and cool down). I may have to find a new place to run soon, because the circus is in town and pretty soon my park will start smelling like popcorn and circus animals.

@Trith - Congrats on the run! 40 mins is a pretty good pace for your first 5K - and if you keep going, you'll probably get even faster!

Thanks! I have a huge stubborn streak, so even though I'm not the biggest fan of running I want to beat my time!

The smell of popcorn would be brutal, good luck finding a new route!

80 minutes at the gym, high gravity day but what can you do?

I have no minutes to report for today :sad2: kudos to everyone who got out on a Sunday and exercised. I finally made it to the Lilac Festival, my husband was working and my teenage son, was well, a teenager o_O and opted to stay home. So it was me and my daughter. We covered a lot of ground!! I definitely got in more than 10,000 steps!! My daughter had a brief scare with her diabetes but we got it under control. The festival had great food, drink, flowers and entertainment. I cannot confirm or deny if I had a lobster roll, curly fries with cheese and a couple of summer shandy's :rolleyes1

Kudos to everyone for putting those minutes in this week-end! Love the beautiful colors on page 1. :rainbow:

75 minutes of yard work and planting of all the annuals yesterday brings me to 880/1000 :yay:

Thank you! But not a real race, just ran around the neighbourhood. Not quite ready for racing yet (although I just signed a for a 5k foam run in July, eek!). I think I felt especially slow because I was with my BF who can do 5k in 20 minutes or so and I could tell how much I was slowing him down. ;)

With a time of 40 minutes I'd say you are ready for a real race now! :cool2: I'm just barely in the 40's for my 5k time. You really can't compare your time to your BF's (although it is hard not to) because he has long legs and testosterone and that is something that we ladies just can't match, but we excel in other areas. princess:

And lisa0711- thanks for the reminder about compression sleeves. I think I'll dig mine out today. It's been a while since I've had shin pain and I think I was heel striking more than normal last week during one of my runs and that caused it. Today my legs feel almost back to normal!

Glad to hear that your legs are feeling better Figment! :flower3:

The Lilac Festival looked like a lot of fun, pix13dust, and summer shandys -- yum! :drinking1

No minutes to report at the moment (hopefully later today - I'm planning to walk down to Starbucks this afternoon), but I just wanted to say how impressed I am at the rainbow of colors on the front page. Everyone is doing really well at getting in those minutes! I really am impressed - it looks like a lot of people will met or exceed their goals this month!

Ok I'm back!

After an extremely lazy week last week (it was bad, and I mean bad), I managed to pull myself together for my 10 mile race on Sunday. My leg was feeling better by Friday and I was hopeful that with compression sleeves and taking it easy I would be ok.

It was hot and humid, and the course was ALLLLLL hills. Seriously, I don't think any section of the course was flat. For extra fun, they had us run a mile uphill at mile 8. And there were a bunch of turns, so we would run up a hill, turn a corner, and...see another hill. Ugh!

With all that I was really pleased with my time. And it was great training for the run I will apply for later this year, which is filled with hills as well. But next year, I'm doing the Wildwood half marathon to give myself a break! :rotfl2:

Sunday: 98 minutes running
