Monsters Inc Laugh Floor -- How to be "That Guy"

Our very first show I was picked to be "That Guy", and was seated, on the right side around the middle, in front of the lamps. Watching the show hearing the joke thinking "man that light is awfully bright for some reason....d'oh!" the only standout thing I think (besides being a big guy, shaved down head), was a rather bushy beard, so I stood out.

Here is the sticker you get in the end

On another day, they picked me for geography questions. They described Texas as a place with a volcano, pyramids and the Eiffel tower and asked me if that was right. I said that I thought they were thinking of Vegas. They didn't want to talk to me anymore after that. :)

I hate these type of discussions. Sometime somewhere along the line, somebody finds out the secret to stuff like this and it gets circulated. Then the entire experience is ruined when people TRY to get "the guy", or "the family of the day" or wake Tinkerbell, or rile up the Whispering Canyon waiters.

Some times, secrets are left best unanswered.

I am always trying to avoid getting picked for things like that. I'm so glad others like it and that at other places there are volunteers. When I was a senior in highschool my parents took us to DL. We were at the Horseshoe Review? The guy came into the audience for a volunteer and I wasn't looking at him hoping I wouldn't get picked. Unfortunately, I got dragged up on stage, wrapped in a boa and sang to. I think I am still traumatized!

was there last week and yep, got picked. I think it helps if you are wearing a large hat with Tigger ears...

it was fun (sorta!) but I did get the sticker that says "I was THAT guy" and people for the rest of the day said "Hey - you were THAT guy!" it was good for a laugh for the rest of the day.

DH was "That Guy" twice. We have been to the show like 3 times-LOL.

Hee hee. Good one!

My husband was picked to be the dancer at the beginning and he did a "mad" sprinkler! My daughter was also picked to be Boo during the same show. She is 5 and it was the highlight of her vacation!

We have seen Laugh Floor 4 times and my Husband has been "that Guy" three of the four times. Never sat in the same place, no funny hat, a couple of times with matching group shirts. He swears it has to do with who he talks to before hand.

well, I talked to NOBODY going in. we were late - just showed up and they said "it's starting in a minute" so in we went. saw the "preshow" on the monitors and in we went! I said nothing to nobody!

Has anybody had any luck getting picked by looking a little different,
or doing something to catch their attention? :confused3

Here are a few things I thought of...

1. wear your sunglasses indoors :smooth:
2. yawn and stretch :dogdance:
3. stare at the ceiling
4. pretend to read a book
5. wear a really unusual ears hat :earsboy:
6. wear an ipod and silently lip-synch along with the song :music:

I'm sure all of these things and more have been tried, though. ;)

When we went in Dec/Jan 2011 - my 2 son's & 1 nephew all wore thier STITCH hats (they are all HUGE stitch fans) So they had lots of screen time and jokes about how long have they been aliens etc. considering the boys were 10, 8 and 7, they ate up the attenention! When we went 2 weeks ago, we were hoping my 16 year old niece would get picked for something but, "luckly" for her, she was not in the right place at the right time :) We love this show.... consider it a classic!

My DH got to be "Needs a hug", I guess because he looked kinda grumpy like he needed a hug! :rotfl: So anytime he's being disagreeable now DS and I will laugh and remind him that he is so grumpy that he needed a hug at the happiest place on Earth.:lmao:

For some reason we had been really lucky on this show. We had been chosen five time straight in two years. My husband had been "that guy", "suly" and we been presented as the honeymooner when we were on our honeymoon. My daughter had been "Boo" and have been chosen to tell a joke when she was dress as a pirate. I was chosen twice as the person who is going to buy churros for everybody and for the psychic number. I dont know how we get chosen. I know that we always have something that make us different. My husband have a very hairy beard, my daughter have was in costume once and the other time she was wearing her birthday ears. I always look very normal. The churro's time I was using my iphone when they put me on the screen.

Good luck. We always have a lot of fun in this show and it has become a must do for us.

There were 5 of us yesterday and my father in law got picked as "That Guy"... we figured it was because he looked bored out of his mind and wasn't paying attention to anything... kind of zoning...LOL

Being on his cell phone talking to my mom worked last year for DH. However, they were already talking to some guy from Iowa near us and that's how they "caught" him. He wasn't actually "That Guy," but they did pick on him a few times during the show.

Heck, I sit all the way in the back and to the sides just to avoid being that guy.:)

I've sat in the back row twice, and twice gotten on camera. Not "that guy" (I'm a girl, after all) but two different shows me & my DH got on. "Has kissed a monster" was one of the captions. I've never sat in front of a lamp, so that theory is blown.

I used to be so worried about getting on screen and now I just go with it. It really adds to the fun. Next time I might wear my bug glasses from ITTBAB and see what they make of that. :rolleyes1

You might not make it past the MK bag check with the bug glasses. Once I was behind someone at DHS bag check and the security officer pulled some bug glasses out of a bag, set them aside and said, "I believe these are ours."

Awkward...

This attraction never fails to amuse my family. We have always had a great time in the Laugh Floor. I have been picked to be Randal twice. I love the part where I get to turn invisible.

People should stop stressing and just go with the moment if you get on camera. It totally adds to the experience and makes the show so much fun when people do unpredictable things.
