I have never stayed in a resort before, but DEFINITELY want to for our next trip. I was considering splitting the time between a monorail resort and a moderate (or value) resort. This may be too broad of a question (and therefore stupid), but does anyone have any suggestions? Remember I haven't stayed in (or even visited) any of the resorts yet. I would like a good introduction to convince my husband that this is the way to go everytime :-)

I think that's what we're going to do. Have stayed at a mod. before. Maybe this time it will be a 'tropical' theme...3 nights at CB, and then 3 nights at the Poly. It is my understanding that you should start with the lesser resort and finish with the deluxe.

Yes...I'm sure that is a good idea (staying at deluxe first)...never thought about that. Did you like PO-R? Thanks!

I really like it at PO-R. I've stayed in both Alligator Bayou and in Magnolia Bend (Magnolia Terrace bldg.) We love the main pool. The water-slide is pretty good. The food court was usually good too. The sit-down restaurant wasn't bad, maybe a little overpriced. We loved just walking around the resort. I'ld stay there again in a flash. However, my dd wants to try the Poly. So it looks like a split visit. As to the two different areas at PO-R....the AB is more rustic looking. It is very forested and secluded feeling. Magnolia Terrace is more formal. southern-mansion looking. The rooms at both areas are basically the same, just different furnishings. I'm a little afraid that once I try a deluxe, I'll never want to go with a moderate again!!!:Pinkbounc

We did this last year! We split our stay between Caribbean Beach and the Grand Floridian and had an AWESOME time! :) I have pictures of our vacation last year on my "family vacations" web site, the link is below in my signature. :)

We stayed at CBR first then switched to GF. It was extremely easy and took only a few minutes to check out, then check in at GF. We LOVED CBR, in fact, at first my sons didn't want to leave to go to the Grand Floridian! But once we got to our room at the GF, they loved it, and it was so much fun to be on the monorail and have that view of the castle from our balcony :)

I have to say though, the bus service was MUCH better from CBR than from GF because GF shares bus service with the Polynesian and the Wilderness Lodge. This didn't bother us because we just relaxed and enjoyed the rides.... but some people really don't like long bus rides. So if you do split your stay, try and do MGM, AK, etc while you're at the moderate, then do MK and Epcot while on the monorail. :) Either way, you'll have a great time!

Happy planning!!!!!! :)

Thanks so much for your advice. I will take that completely to heart. I am skeptical about how enjoyable taking the busses to the parks would be. Really trying to figure this all out! Thanks so much!

Hi SeaSpray...Have to say that I really loved your site. I can't wait a whole year to get back to wdw. My 8 yr. old is now looking forward to CBR also.:earsgirl: Thanks!!!!
