Monorail Drink-A-Thon

Have any of you ever done this little around-the-lake trip with food, too? Thinking about doing drinks at one resort, drinks and dinner at the next, and drinks and dessert at the third. Thoughts?

My husband and I did it with appetizers at each location, except Mizner's at Grand Floridian because we were there the night Citricos is black, and that is where they get their appetizers.

I love your idea - will have to try it next time. However, I personally would not start with appetizers at Wilderness Lodge. I know others have said that they are good, but we were very disappointed in our nachos (and I NEVER am disappointed in food!).
We had nachos at the Territory Lounge at Wilderness Lodge, egg roll thingies at the Polynesian (REALLY good), and then a steak flatbread at California Grill (again, delicious. I dream about this one! :faint: )

Hi heather, and welcome! What lake do you mean? I think your plan sounds wonderful...so please post with a review if you do it!

maine-jen-Awww, dagnabit! I have a pic of me at O'Hana drinking a Lapu Lapu. The NEXT drink I had was a backscratcher. It is a rum concoction with a Jack Daniels floater...which is a pretty weird mix, but hey, I was already buzzing when I ordered it so it sounded like a good idea! I cracked up when the CM brought it out with the big ol backscratcher stuck in it! I saved that backscratcher for a long time...just left it in the trunk of my car, and i always smiled when I saw it. I haven't seen it recently, think my DH did something with it.

You should post on the restaurant board...start a new thread. I bet SOMEONE has a pic!

Thanks, guys!

By "lake" I just meant the monorail loop + WL boat. I can never get the various Disney Lake names corredt, so I just avoid using them :)

Night of Joy has dampened our evening plans, so I think drinking (and eating) around the monorail loop might be a suitable alternative activity. :drinking1 :scratchin :drinking:

Night of joy? <ears perk up>

Heather, when are you coming down to see the mouse? We are going over for the weekend of September 9th-11th and Night of Joy dampened our plans to. I had this whole grand plan to watch Wishes from the beach of the Polynesian, but now, no Wishes. So, we too, decided that eating/drinking around the Seven Seas Lagoon would be a perfect alternative plan. Hehe! :sunny:

WLL - Hehe, I am not attending Night of Joy....I just know about it because it happened to be on the nights that we wanted to see Wishes. From the WDW website...here's Night of Joy, in a nutshell.

Rejoice to the rockin' sounds and movin' messages from some of today's most powerful voices in Contemporary Christian music. Live concert performances on stages throughout the Magic Kingdom® Park showcase the best of Christian Pop, Rock, Urban, and Gospel music. It's a magical, musical celebration of inspiration and joy!

Here's an interesting observation:

My daughter was a castmember at Disney World in the college program. They always have "problems" with people getting a little amorous in dark corners at the Magic Kingdom (where she worked). She said they had the greatest number of incidences during the Nights of Joy! :love1:

Actually, this is probably because there is a very high percent of teenagers there during this time. (I have been to Night of Joy, though its been about 10 years).

I assume that Artist Point, the Territory Lounge and the Whispering Canyon Cafe all share the same kitchen. If so, the Wild West Wings from WCC (with ancho glaze) really rock.

Oh, Ok...now I know! I wonder why they would not have Wishes on that night? I guess it would interfere with other happenings, huh?

Hey Robinb I finally tried a Lapu Lapu. My DMIL almost fell over when they delivered a full pineapple. Delicious!

They *are* good :). I love the pineapple too, but you can get the drink for a discount without it.

We're down for the weekend of Sept. 9-11 as well. DH has nixed my around-the-monorail plan because he really wants to do California Grill. I'm not complaining! :cool1:

I do think we may need to hit the other resorts for a little libation still, no?

As for Night of Joy -- if the youth groups that attend are anything like what I remember in high school, I can virtually guarantee that they are the ones responsible for the clandesting making out. :love2: :love1: puckerup:

Well ... it is called the Night of Joy after all!

Hello All -

This is my first visit to the Monrail Drink-A-Thon

My suggestion would be to embibe at Mizners at the Grand Floridian.

Sunday afternoon our bartender made me a killer Mizner's Martini. It was chocolate liquor with creme etc!

WOO HOO....had to have 2 of those that afternoon. It was a great way to relax after a hot day in the parks!
