Moms to be Part 4

I had my ultrasound today to measure growth and amniotic fluid. Fluid levels were good and Daniel measured in at 6 lbs 2 oz. He is a BIG baby! I think the Dr said it made him in the 90 percentile. They also found gallstones. I had called in earlier today due to a pain in my side and back, but it feels more like a pulled muscle. It only hurts when I move. I think I just overdid it yesterday cleaning house. Guess its time to let DH and DD do even more around the house. Tomorrow makes 33 weeks, but the Dr said we may move up the c-section date as he is so big. Maybe as much as 10 days before my due date. Right now I'm scheduled for 6 days before my due date.

And to make my day even better my AC has gone out. Paid the extra to have someone come out after hours and they replaced a part and said wait about an hour and turn it back on and it should work fine. So we went out to diner and came home and turned the ac back on and no cool air. Waiting for them to call us back and solve the problem. No AC and 100 Degree days do not work for me. At least its evening and starting to cool down somewhat. It's only 95 degrees outside at the moment and 84 inside.

The doctor said it was normal....but I'm still a little concerned. My blood pressure isn't "bad", but it isn't good. I have regularly had my lower number above 90 which is not usual. My base BP was running around 120/70 before pregnancy so that lower number is concerning. I gained 3 pounds over the weekend too....and I cannot figure out for the life of me how. Throw in some off and on dull headaches and I'm a bit scared. We have a Disney trip coming up that I don't want to cancel....and the thought of bedrest early scares the wee wee out of me. I was on bedrest a week before DD was born and it was the LONGEST week of my life.

WDWorBUST - I'm glad your doc thinks everything is ok, hopefully he's right. The only time I threw up in the 2nd trimester was when I had a sinus infection with DS. Last year I had walking pneumonia and I would just randomly throw up like you described - no nausea at all, I would just cough and then puke. Really gross. It lasted about 2 months. I threw up in the bushes at downtown DL.

Skuttle - I'm glad everything is going so well and they were able to find the heartbeat so quickly!

Temair - gallstones suck, that's the last thing you need when pregnant - more discomfort! :headache: And AC not working on top of it! I hope that gets fixed fast! I live near Phoenix, and there was an editorial in the paper a few weeks ago from someone back east about AC being a waste of energy. I'm sorry, but when it's 100+ degrees for weeks or 90+ with humidity, AC is not a luxury, it's a necessity! No way would I live in a place like this before AC was invented!

So, I've been having some weird symptoms lately. I've had tons of BH contractions this time, never had any with DS, so this is new for me. Last night before bed, I had 3 within 20 minutes, and was having lower back pain at the same time. One more contraction and I was ready to call the OB, but luckily they stopped. I wouldn't mind DD coming a little early, but not this early yet! I want her to get a little bigger and healthier before making her appearance! It's kind of sad, but part of the reason I was hesitant to call the OB or go to the hospital was because we have a high deductible health plan for insurance now, and I can't help thinking about how much it will cost and that it's a waste of money if nothing is wrong. Silly I know, obviously baby's health is more important, but I don't want to go unless I really *have* to, kwim?

Wow, I want your OB! Where do you live? :rotfl: Mine won't move a thing and Owen measured 8lbs10oz at 35 weeks. :headache: She is so anti-intervention of any sort that I used to appreciate it and now I'm grumbling. :lmao:

About gallstones-- I had major gallbladder issues with my first pregnancy and the moving thing is because you're moving the stones. The pain occurs when a stone gets lodged in a duct, so moving will sometimes knock them in/out of the ducts. They told me this to try to help me stop the attacks (because I needed surgery but no surgeon would touch me pregnant) so I was trying all sorts of crazy positions to try to move the stones when they'd get stuck.
Wasn't sure if anyone told you that, so I thought I'd offer my .02c :thumbsup2

That is really strange! 3lbs is a lot if you haven't been on a cruise, or the Deluxe Dining Plan or you know, it's not Christmas... I'd be worried, too. I hope they figure something out to give you peace of mind.

Our house didn't have AC when we bought it. We qualified for the First Time Homebuyers Tax Credit (the one that has to be paid back, though :headache:) so DH kept telling me that we were getting air, I had no say. He'd just keep repeating "We're using that money to install central air."
Well, $9k and 2 pregnancies later I am so glad he didn't let me stop me. :rotfl: He told me once he'd spent time in the desert sweating his bum off, now he is a civilian and he wasn't going to do it at home. (He was in the Marine Corps.)

And I've totally got you on the money thing. There have been times that I'm like... do I really want to go? And the deciding factor has been "It's free, go." (My DH's insurance is 100% maternity/prenatal care) but I know if it wasn't I'd be cringing at all these extra tests and probably wouldn't have gone to L&D all the times I have. Really sad, but it goes to show you that the people without healthcare are definitely thinking the same way and that is why there are so many deaths due to things that could have been fixed easily if they'd not been afraid of the bill. :sad2:

Well, I've been having pretty steady strong contractions for an hour now. I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to wake up DS but I think I'm going to. My OB told me that if I have contractions I need to be seen sooner rather than later because of the fluid and the last few have made me wince so I'm thinking I better at least call her office. Blah. Nothing like sitting on a monitor for a few hours to start my day...

Had my 2nd prenatal appointment today (13w5d). Heard the heartbeat with the doppler today. Yay!! Didn't take her long to find it at all, even though she did comment again how loud my heart was again. She said my blood sugar levels look good so far. And I lost 2 pounds. :) Hopefully things will continue to go well. I went ahead and told everyone at work today and they were all so excited. Several of the women I work with knew we had been struggling to have baby #2 for quite some time so it was fun to tell them. I'm glad it's officially out because my belly is making me look more and more chunky!

So glad your appointment went well and I'm sure things will continue to go well. I was just saying today that I think the makers of maternity clothes need to take a hint from the makers of kids clothes and put in the adjustable waists :)

I hope you got your AC going. It is miserably hot out there. I think it's supposed to be 104 here today again. It's like walking out into an oven! So glad everything is good with baby :)

Well I threw up again this morning. This time I was driving down the road and had to pull over quickly. Then I had to turn around and go back home because I had peed on myself when puking - please tell me I'm not the only one that this has ever happened to

3 pounds is a lot! And I didn't pig out on anything or eat really out of the ordinary. Go figure! My first blood pressure of the morning was 144/65 - the top number higher than usual, and the low number lower than normal. I don't know what to think at this point. I guess I will just talk to her about it at my appt next Wednesday.

Glad you are calling the doctor, but sorry your morning might be ruined. So are you to a point that they wouldn't stop labor if it were to really get started?

I am so stinking tired! I am just not sleeping well now and I know it's only going to get worse! UGH!!

Sounds really normal. I have BHs all throughout the day - usually several an hour. Sometimes I have less and sometimes I have more. One night I had them every 5-6 minutes for about 2 hours. But they weren't painful so I attributed it to not drinking enough water (I had been at the beach all day). As long as you are staying hydrated, I wouldn't go to the ER unless they are so painful you can't stand it (I'm with you on the money aspect - it's crazy expensive!).

Side note: DS3 & DH are playing hide and seek for the 1st time, and it was DS's turn to hide. DH counted to 10, then said, "ready or not here I come!" And DS yelled, "I'm in mommy's closet, behind the door!" :rolleyes1 He's not very good at this yet! But it was pretty funny! :rotfl:

:rotfl: DH will play "I Spy" with DD3. She's about as good as your DS. She always spies the same thing - the window treatment. He's getting very good at answering correctly.

Well I threw up again this morning. This time I was driving down the road and had to pull over quickly. Then I had to turn around and go back home because I had peed on myself when puking - please tell me I'm not the only one that this has ever happened to

I never had much morning sickness (never threw up, just felt queasy) but the last few weeks I have had rough mornings. I feel like I have low blood sugar (light-headed, hot, queasy) as soon as I eat something with sugar. Which makes no sense. So I have to eat only protein in the morning, which I'm not crazy about. Your body does weird things pregnant!

I know I hope its a great trip!! We're dressing him up as Eeyore!! http://www.halloweenexpress.com/eeyore-deluxe-plush-infant-costume-p-2804.html
I'm going to wait and see when they starting puting them out and then go buy it. Should be fun we also made ressies at TH we've never been there so hopefully its good I've heard mixed reviews so.
But how are you? You don't have much longer? I remember when you came on and found out you were preggers :flower3:

/
Hey everyone! It's been awhile since I've been on and no, I'm not preggers again I just thought I'd let everyone know that Allie is doing really great...she's got such a personality!

How has everyone been doing? I miss being on here everyday and reading everyones stories and getting advice.

Does anyone have any tips for taking a baby to Disney? We'll be going when she's a year and my mom has been reading up on here but I figured I'd get some opinions and advice from you guys too :)

Em, she is adorable! That first picture reminds me of DD when she was 5w and just started to smile a bit. So sweet.

I took DD when she was 18m which is a bit older than a year, so I don't know how different the trip would be. My best advice is to go on baby's schedule. When DD3 was 18m she was still taking afternoon naps - usually from 1-4. Well at Disney, she was exhausted by 11am! So as soon as we saw she was getting tired (eye rubbing, yawning) we would head back to the room and put her down. She would sleep forever! We would just let her be until she was ready to get up. The one time we got her up to go eat, she was so cranky I thought they would throw us out of the restaurant! So stay on baby's schedule - everyone will be happier for it. :goodvibes

Em - She is such a cutie!!

As far as taking baby I agree with Vettechick! We took DD at 13 months for her first trip and the best thing for us is that we got AP's because we planned to go back a week earlier the next year (we ended up slipping another trip in there too). But by having AP's we were able to not stress about the amount of time spent in the park. With regular tickets I am afraid I would have been trying to get my "money's worth" and we all would have been miserable. But as it was we would go to the parks when we woke up, and head back to the room when she was tired. If she was hungry we would eat. It was all about her. So I think if you go with that mindset you will have a great time.

We have taken Sammi pretty much every year (a couple of times twice a year) since and in all honesty the last trip or two has been the hardest (age 6) because she now has an opinion of her own about what she wants to do and it never fails that to do what she wants has us criss-crossing across the park.

Enjoy Allie's first trip!!

Saturday we went to a place here in St. Louis called Grant's Farm. It is like a mini zoo / reserve type of thing, and also houses some of the Anheuiser Busch clydesdales. It was a little cooler that day and most of that area is shaded so we decided to try it (it's free so no loss if we just left). I did pretty well; we walked around for about 1.5 - 2 hours. Funny though: I was in line waiting in the restroom and there was another woman who was also pregnant in line behind me. She asked me if she could go ahead of me because she was "pregnant and had to pee". Um....I am 8+ months pregnant so it's not like you can't tell... LOL

Wow - people just amaze me sometimes!

And to make my day even better my AC has gone out. Paid the extra to have someone come out after hours and they replaced a part and said wait about an hour and turn it back on and it should work fine. Oh, I hope you got it working - happened to me last year on a 108 degree day. It was miserable - and I wasn't pregnant! AC is definitely not optional.

A high deductible plan does make you think twice - which I know is the point - but it does make little decisions more difficult sometimes!

Um, nope, you're not alone. That is one of those thing no one tells you before you have kids, isn't it?

I'm down to 4-5 hours of sleep a night now, too. I hate the thought of being so tired now when I know there will be plenty of sleepless nights after the baby comes, too.

Couldn't agree more!

Hello, ladies! Baby boy was born on July 26. 7 lbs, 9 oz, 19.5 inches long and perfectly healthy. Just wanted to check in and say hello. :goodvibes

Congratulations TarzansKat! So glad everything turned out good - did labor go okay? I know you were worried about being induced.

We need pictures :)

Thank you!

Actually, my labor was quite a surprise. My husband got to the hospital right before they were going to administer the cervidil, so that was great timing. Now we asked, what if things progress before the 12 hours, and the doctor said, oh it's so rare, we've only had one other patient that we've removed it early, we really like to leave it in.

Ha. Ha ha.

Two hours later, I was in such horrendous pain with contractions that I begged them to check me. My contractions were so intense, and were practically right on top of each other. It turned out I'd gone from not really dilated to 2 cm and 80% effaced. They decided to take the cervidil out, thank God. They wanted me to take staidol for the pain, but I requested an epidural. I really wasn't interested in a narcotic, and would rather just go for the epidural since I knew I wanted it.

Long story short, I got one, and three hours later, the baby was born. I went from 2 to 10 cm in three hours, total labor was five hours. DH and I were shocked, honestly. We never expected it to go that fast. When I got the epidural I thought I'd be able to nap a little, but by then it was almost time to push. So our new little kiddo was born at 4:09 in the morning, something neither of us expected, but were just thrilled with all the same.

Leave it to me to be the one other woman the doctor, in all their years of experience, had to remove the cervidil from! :lmao:

Awe, she is a cutie!

Thanks! I swear she gets cuter everyday :goodvibes

I love her smiles, they are so adorable! Keeping on her schedule is good advice, the good thing is we'll be there in June and the heat makes me tired too so I'll probably nap with her! My sister and her boyfriend and my parents are coming too so they can stay at the parks even. We're really looking forward to it...I wish it were next June already, I'm having WDW withdrawls!

Em - She is such a cutie!!

I think my parents are getting APs but with school and work I don't know if we'll be able to go twice within the same year. I'd love to take my boyfriend and his 5 year old but his job keeps him extremely busy so to try and find time would be difficult. I've already told him if we get married he will have to FIND time to go to WDW with us because that's not a sacrifice I'm willing to make! :rotfl2:

I called yesterday- she had me go in. The contractions were 1.5-2 minutes apart but she sent me home. I don't think it is possible to stress how anti-intervention my OB is.

Had another ultrasound...

Owen measures "Already born" as the ultrasound tech said :rotfl: (She thought she was funny!)

Anyway... 9lbs9oz.

Good news is fluid is down! It's only 31cm now. Hah. Only.

The high-risk OB I saw at Women and Childrens ordered a whole crapton of tests, which apparently were not specific. Sooo something came back as a positive and it's a new infection, no previous antibodies exist (I guess they test for old and new? I really know nothing about that stuff!!) but they don't know exactly what it's for so I had to go get more bloodwork done today to narrow it down and rule out a lab error.
As irritating as it is that they don't just test for specifics the first time, does anyone know why? I'm assuming it's less expensive to just do a generic test for a bunch of stuff and then narrow down from there if needed? Just curious if anyone knew for sure.

Congrats, Kat! That is one quick birth you had there. Wow!!

Piecey, all I can say is HOLY COW! :)

Em....I wasn't on here when you were, but had to say how cute your daughter is!

Piecey...I don't know about your tests, but I would be frustrated as well. Too funny that Owen is measuring "already born."

TarzansKat...Congratulations!! Glad everything went well (and fast)!

I need opinions! I finally told everyone at work about the pregnancy. I wasn't working at my current job when DS was born. Most of the women I work with knew bits and pieces about our struggle to get pregnant. One of them is already planning a shower for later this year...she even sent appointments to other coworkers for when to start planning and possible dates.

I wasn't expecting any type of shower since this is our second, even though DS is 7 years old. Should I think about doing a small registry just in case people ask? Or do I just not worry about it?

I called yesterday- she had me go in. The contractions were 1.5-2 minutes apart but she sent me home. I don't think it is possible to stress how anti-intervention my OB is.

Had another ultrasound...

Owen measures "Already born" as the ultrasound tech said :rotfl: (She thought she was funny!)

Anyway... 9lbs9oz.

Wow! I'm surprised they didn't keep you, and my goodness he's getting quite big, huh?

Congrats, Kat! That is one quick birth you had there. Wow!!

Thank you! And yes, it went by super fast.

Thank you!

I don't see the harm in doing a small registry if there are things you need. There are five years between my children and although I saved a lot, there were still some items that needed to be purchased. I'm not sure what etiquette dictates, but I think it's just practical, that way you don't end up with things you already have. Maybe someone else can weigh in as well. :goodvibes
