Moms to be Part 4

Mrs. Charming, I was the same way. I wanted a name! So you can imagine how irritated that crap last night made me, too, when Is tarted rethinking the name. Grr. lol.

I love the surfer dude theme! You'll be able to find stuff to decorate his room with everywhere! I'm going to the beach next month and I bet I'll see a ton of stuff and think of you now!! :lmao:

Why don't you guys use a bumper? I've always used a bumper with Lucas. He's not used his quilt yet because it's hot as crap here (seriously, today is my birthday and I remember sitting in Panera Bread with my husband last year and watching it snow on my birthday right before we went to an ultrasound for Lucas. And today it's 90!).

I use a bedskirt because I hide diapers under the crib. I have an obsession with coupons and good deals. We probably have over 75 packages of diapers and 30 boxes of wipes up there. :rolleyes1

Well last night was my first Lamaze class, my mom was supposed to come with but decided yesterday that she didn't want to and that my best friend should go because my mom has had babies and my friend hasn't. Good logic...well that's what I thought until we got there and started the class. The teacher was very, um...enthusiastic is maybe the right word. We were laughing almost the whole time :lmao: Then we watched an animated video about effacing and dilating...that was amusing. And we watched a birth video that I swear was the same one we watched during the sex ed unit in 10th grade. Now my best friend and I have probably seen 10 birth videos due to various classes we took in HS so we were practically falling asleep while everyone else was cringing...that also made us laugh. I told my best friend that if I sound like I'm having the big O while in labor...to tell me to shut up, most of the videos we've watched the women have sounded like that and I'd prefer to scream instead of sound like that in front of my mom!

LMAO... that must have been really... interesting. LOL at the big "O" during labor, somehow the big "O" and childbirth don't seem to mesh in my mind!! :lmao: One comes before the other, usually about 9 months apart!

That would have really irritated me too... it's like you finally decide, and then a bird comes by and poops on your decision. I'm glad you're sticking to it.

Ohh I want to go to the beach now! It's in the mid-80's and sunny here today, oh what I would give to have my piggy toes in the ocean right now. It's so weird because it's NOT supposed to get this hot until at least early June.
Hey if you see something surfer-y cute (this goes for all of you!) or if you see a cute surfer dude bedding set type thing, please tell me the name! I'd be so grateful!

I never really used a bumper b/c when DD was born there was a big to-do about babies suffocating in their bumpers, so I figured hmmm... I'm just not going to use one. It never really became a problem, so I just figured we're not gonna use one again. Plus DD's crib was a few feet away from my bed, and I could see her right through the slats, and I wouldn't have been able to see her with a bumper. So there's my logic :)

waaaaait... TODAY is your birthday?!!! :bday:party:

Ohhhh heyyyy that's a good idea, well that's an awesome use for a bedskirt. I never thought of that! I'm a couponer too, I bought a *ton* of diapers last night (7 packs!) at target because they were clearanced and I had coupons. I think I have 7 packs of NB and 6 packs of size 1's so far. I hate having to buy diapers at full price because you're out of them, it drives me crazy. I have an aneurysm if I have to buy them at full price w/o a coupon!! :crazy2: I'm much happier when I can buy them cheap, so I'm stocking up now, because we're going through so few Pull-Ups with DD and I've already mentally allocated that money for diapers. ;)

I had something normal but weird to me happen last night. Colustrum. Ok, maybe I'm weird, but ICK. I'm not ready for that. Just the little drop I saw made me question whether or not I'm as interested in breast feeding as I was. Stupid, right?

I'm already seeing some colustrum too... (WTH?) and I think it's gross, too... so don't feel weird about thinking it's gross. And I DO plan to nurse this one... but I still think it's gross. :) Everything about pregnancy seems to be gross.

Very cute - and you can't beat the price. I am actually considering not even buying a bedding set for this baby. It was such a waste with DD. Of course if it's a girl then I'll just use DD's again.

Yeah, I'm debating using DDs in the baby (BOY) room. The bumpers are yellow checks w/ blue floral (not obvious) piping... but the skirt for her crib is much more flowery. (This is a set I made for her from some laura ashley fabrics). I'm also thinking about going to see if I can find a fabric for the skirt that would go with the bumpers.

I'm finally starting to get more excited about this boy thing. I still can't help but look at the pink stuff, its just what I'm used to! I thought of a good theme today though, "surfer dude." I've seen a few bedding sets like that, but theyre all mucho mucho expensive. I guess I can get pieces though because we don't really use a bumper or a bedskirt, so that makes it easier. Phew. One thing off the list.

I'm having a hard time with the theme thing this time around... I don't feel like I have the energy... besides, his room is still going to be half sewing room for a good while yet. Well, if I ever get the room cleaned out. I like the surfer dude theme idea though. Sounds super cute... and totally (snark!) different.

The other thing that's killing me is that I don't have a name for this little boy. I'm kinda digging Nate/Nathan (which would be weird because it ends in the same sound as our last name... ugh) or maybe Josh/Joshua. We like Luke and Logan, but there are already one of each in DH's extended family. It's not like we see them a lot, so I suppose it wouldn't be a big deal, but still. Darn them!! I wouldn't mind something a little "different" like Keoni or Taj... but I'm just clueless. At least I do have time, but still, this little guy needs a name.

I'm with you on that too... I want a name so bad. I don't want a super popular name... We were going to name a girl Ada after DH's gma, but I refuse to name a boy Aiden because it's so popular right now. I'm having a hard time with traditional names because it seems like I have some sort of "history" with all of them. And the few that I can come up with, I start hating about an hour after I think of them.

And to top it all off, I have this nagging in my head that I should have a girl name ready just in case... which I know is ridiculous because TWO u/s techs have said boy now. But every single dream I have of him, he is a she! And I still screw up and think of him as a her and use the wrong pronouns sometimes... I don't know how to tell DH any of this because I know he'll think I'm insane and it's just wishful thinking... or that I don't want a boy or whatever... Anyway...

I missed that too!!! Happy Birthday!

haha thanks. yep. I'm 23 today. :upsidedow

My DH cracks up when he comes home and I tell him to close his eyes because it usually means i did another diaper deal and havent gotten them stashed yet. :rotfl: He makes fun of me so I don't even tell him anymore. Yet he appreciates when he uses the last diaper in a package and there is another package waiting!!
We have a walk in hall closet upstairs, one half of it has a built in shelving unit with doors. that sucker is probably 2.5' deep. I've been using the bottom two shelves for the diapers/wipes and told him I'll stop when my good places to stash are gone. :rotfl:

Check and see if your KMart is doubling coupons! I just went today and did this deal:
2 Dove Deodorants (reg. $4.29 each)
Huggies Pull-Ups (reg. $9.99)
Huggies Lil Swimmers (reg. $7.85)
Huggies tub-o-wipes (reg. $2.99)
Juice Juice 8 pack (reg. $2.49)
for $15.33!
They had a peelie thing for free juicy juice when you buy $20 in Huggies. I had a .50c wipe coupon but printed the Little Swimmers/ Pull-Ups coupon offline. I also printed the dove coupons that made both deodorants FREE!!

I probably average about $1.50 per pack of diapers that we actually pay. I've gotten into CVSing pretty heavily for them. I have over $75 in gift cards I got for free from filling DS's prescriptions there. :woohoo:

I don't have a Target, but I did the same thing when I was close to one! I bought ALL That they had. DH thought I was crazy. Now he gets it! Those suckers are expensive! I even bought the 2 boxes of Target Size 5s they clearanced out because they changed their packaging. :lmao:They're waiting upstairs for DS to move into 5s.

I guess I get the bumper thing, now. DS has always been in his own room, he's never slept with either one of us. So totally different situations! Freaky about strangulation, too!!

I had something normal but weird to me happen last night. Colustrum. Ok, maybe I'm weird, but ICK. I'm not ready for that. Just the little drop I saw made me question whether or not I'm as interested in breast feeding as I was. Stupid, right?

And for another gross TMI post...I thought my water broke yesterday. Turns out I had just been sitting for too long in a hot meeting room and was sweaty. Ew.

Lol at thinking your water broke. As for the colustrum, I had that in my first pregnancy and thought it was pretty gross too, but I'm sure once you have the baby BF will be a whole other story.

My news for the day: Went to new OBGYN... they somehow didn't know I was pregnant, they were apparently "confirming the pregnancy." Uhm, had that done in DECEMBER.

On a good note, Target was clearancing out the Pampers Swaddlers so I got some packs for $6 a pack because I had some $2 coupons. Woohoo! I stocked up on NB's and size 1's. Sweet! (DD was in NB's *forever* lol)

How annoying about the doc's office! Sweet deal on diapers though - I will have to go check our target!

We're keeping Owen, hope everyone has a great day!

Sounds like I missed some drama, but glad to hear you are keeping your son! ;) j/k - it sounds like name issues, but the way this post is worded, sounds like you are keeping the baby!

I am actually considering not even buying a bedding set for this baby. It was such a waste with DD.

Sammi is so cute. This morning I was leaving for work and told her I loved her and would see her later. She told me "Love you too....take good care of the baby today"

Sammi is so sweet! When I leave for work I tell Alex I love him and to be good. He sometimes responds, "Love you too, be good at work!" :rotfl:

I'm also considering not buying a bedding set for this baby, we really didn't use DS's at all. We did use the bumper, but just put the quilt on the back of the recliner for decoration and never used it. The only blankets we used for him were the sleeping bags and swaddle blankets, and I will probably do the same, especially since it's so hot here!

I told my best friend that if I sound like I'm having the big O while in labor...to tell me to shut up, most of the videos we've watched the women have sounded like that and I'd prefer to scream instead of sound like that in front of my mom!

Too funny! I remember thinking the same thing watching those videos! :rotfl2:

I thought of a good theme today though, "surfer dude."

Sounds cute - my teenage cousin (girl) just did a similar theme for her room, so that won't be too baby-ish. :goodvibes

I use a bedskirt because I hide diapers under the crib. I have an obsession with coupons and good deals. We probably have over 75 packages of diapers and 30 boxes of wipes up there. :rolleyes1

I like that idea! We didn't use a bedskirt with DS, b/c his bedding set didn't come with one, but I like your idea of storing diapers under there.

********************
I wish I could feel this baby moving more already. I keep fearing that something has happened and I won't find out until my next appt next week. I would just feel better if I could feel him/her moving so I know everything is ok.

Sounds like you got some great deals! I hate our K-Mart. It is always dirty and disorganized and I can never find the items that are on sale or that I am looking for. It's too much of a headache for me to be worth it most of the time. :headache:

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

It's amazing how many packages of diapers you can fit under there whenever the mattress is high. I need to lower the mattress in Lucas' room though so I will lose some space then. Hopefully I get to start setting up Owen's nursery soon so I will have more storage :rotfl:

Terrible thing is there are diapers in the closet (walk-in and the one in his room, too!), diapers under the crib, diapers in the changing table, I keep a package in the jeep and a package down here for changes through the day. My house is exploding with diapers :rotfl:

Mrs. Charming, I am so ready to go to the beach too! Are you planning any trips this summer?? My mom's best friend has a timeshare ocean front condo thingie. She has a bunch of weeks that she just doesn't have the vacation for so we "rented" a week from her. $550 for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom oceanfront condo with a balcony at the Outer Banks! We're so excited!! DH invited my best friend and her hubby to go with us so I'm sure we'll have a blast. I'll let you know if I see anything while I'm there!

I'm already seeing some colustrum too... (WTH?) and I think it's gross, too... so don't feel weird about thinking it's gross. And I DO plan to nurse this one... but I still think it's gross. :) Everything about pregnancy seems to be gross.

I have that little bug in the back of my head telling us to have a girl name too. I feel like a cuckoobird because I've seen his little "turtle!" It's definitely there! I think it's because we already have a girl, and that's what we're used to. At least thats what I think is going on with me.

I would totally use the same bedding, it's not blaringly pink, and he's probably not gonna use it for long, so save yourself the cash!

Haha DD's room is still a junk room. LOL. :headache: She's in our bed most of the time anyway, so it's like... why bother? lol!!'

I have to keep remembering to do the multi-quote, lol. D'oh!

haha thanks. yep. I'm 23 today. :upsidedow

I'm impressed! I thought I was a good couponer... I was... at one time, lol. I stopped getting the paper because the coupons at one point went *really* downhill and there seemed to be no coupons for anything I used. I used to be so good with formula, between the checks and the BOGO catalinas... I'd get like 2 cans for $6!!

How do you average $1.50 for a pack of diapers?? That's super impressive. I also got out of CVSing until the Pampers specials with the ECBs last week. Somehow the 'limit 2' apparently didn't apply to me, so I kept going back repeatedly since it kept spitting out ECB's! I think I did get one pack for 97 cents, though.:woohoo: CVS used to have deals like that all the time, and then somewhere around jan 09 (or jan 08?) when pampers prices skyrocketed. They seem to be back to normal price-wise but there are less in the packs... booo. I wish I could get into the prescription thing, but we don't really have any prescriptions. I guess that's a good thing, right?

I gotta check into the KMart thing, too. I remember getting PullUps pretty cheap last time they did that deal! I don't think I have many pampers coupons left though. Hmm.. I just realized we don't need swim diapers, either. Ah well, more for the little dude!

DH seems indifferent about the diaper buying thing. He doesn't mind paying retail. :headache: I don't get it. Ah well, that's not gonna stop me! lol

DH doesn't mind paying retail either, but I enjoy couponing so he leaves me to it.

I watch iheartcvs.com for their diaper deals. I print every coupon I can, have all my friends signed up. My walmart takes expired coupons, too, so I save any that expire to get Overnites there (seems they never go on sale!).

DS has really bad dermatitis, we have about 6/7 ointments/creams/steroid lotions for his skin. I got a $25 GC every time I filled the original script (plus one for my prenatals, one for his steroid liquid, one for his antibiotic :Rotfl:) and then I can transfer to Rite Aid and get another $25 GC for them. I also got gift cards for a few antibiotics I had filled before I got pregnant again and all my pain pills from the surgeries I had. We've had a good year for me to get gift cards!! I've had a stockpile for awhile.
I used the gift cards to get some ECBs to roll and now I mostly but stuff with my ECBs/coupons and pay the (small) difference with my stockpile of gift cards. I did the Pampers- it let me do it 5 times, too! Used those ECBs to buy the Huggies last week. I got a few $2/$10 baby purchase CVS coupons too so those helped! I think I have $10 in ECB that if they don't do another diaper deal I'll just use to buy 1 pack.

So, my OOP cost for diapers is pretty low because I don't really pay anything for the diapers I get at CVS (which is a lot!) because of the gift cards and such. Same goes for Rite Aid. I'm still transferring prescriptions to Rite Aid for the gift cards that I can't even use while I'm pregnant.. but I'll need them again when I have the baby and our Rx co-pay is $5 so it's worth it, to me.

I rarely buy somewhere I have to pay cash... only great deals like this week at Kmart! I got Overnites, Pull Ups and Little Swimmers but my OOP cost, after coupons, was low enough to make it worth it!! Especially since I rarely see those on sale at CVS/Rite Aid.

It wouldn't be possible without the free gift cards to get them that cheap, though I'd still get them cheaper than retail!

Well Happy Birthday!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Yeah, ours isn't clean either. I'm suprised they haven't closed since there's a super duper walmart up the road, and Targets all over the place. But, a good deal is a good deal!

You'll feel the baby soon enough, then at one point you're going to be screaming "stop kicking me in the ribs!!" LOL, I'm sure you know that since you have a little one already, but I thought I'd refresh your memory. :lmao:

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

LOL our diapers are just in big bags in DD's supposed-to-be room. I'm really going to have to organize it. It's funny because I had it pretty good, and then we got the carseat, the double stroller, the pink exersaucer I have to exchange, and the huge bags of diapers in there. One step forward, three steps back, lol. I think I'm going to do the diapers under the crib thing!

Ohh I wish we could do a week at the beach. That's an awesome deal! We might get to go a few days with DH's grandma because she's wanted to go for a few years and it just never works out. If we don't, it's just going to be some day trips. It's the Jersey shore, so it's not like there's a great selection of hotels... most of the motels/hotels haven't been renovated since 1975! lol. I just have to keep it in my head that we're going to Disney for Christmas/my birthday, and we're finally staying at the Poly. (which is gonna set us back almost 3500...):scared1: That's not even club level or theme park view, either!:scared1::scared1: That's like, double what we usually spend for Disney b/c we usually stay at Pop. Sometimes I feel really badly about it, and I feel guilty about spending the money. But I have to remind myself: monorails are convenient with new babies, and it's giong to be my *gulp* 30th birthday. Like the old Clairol commercials, "I'm worth it." (right?)

Ohhh I want to stay at the Poly sometime. We're not going to attempt to go back until maybe November of 2012, though. :-/ I miss it so! :rotfl:

My parents are doing a vow renewal on the beach (Outer Banks) next summer so it's all beach for us the next few years. We're planning on saving $$ and maybe doing the Boardwalk or Poly for the 2012 trip since we won't pay much to go to the beach next year (mom and dad are renting the house for everyone who comes, woohoo)
I do think we're going to hit the Pittsburgh Zoo in June, sometime after DS's birthday party. Hopefully we'll get the rest of the nursery furniture @ IKEA during that trip, I'm going with my friend Monday to buy 1 piece of it. woohoo.
That is our vacation schedule. :rotfl:

*Eta* I'm so bummed! I just re-checked IKEA's stock and they're discontinuing that line! What is up with my luck???
That lady was all "Oh, well I can just place the order for you now and they'll hold them as paid." I'm like SWEET, at least I know I'll still get the changing table that way. Then, at the end, she goes "It's just a $10 handling fee" Gr. I hate that.
So I might be starting all over on my nursery furniture plans.

Ahhh that makes more sense on the gift cards. I was like, how the heck do you do that?? I was jealous  My SIL's son has dermatitis too, and I guess he's got a milk allergy that makes it worse. Poor kiddos.

I'm also so jealous of your $5 copay!! Our *generic* just went up to $20. :sad2: It's like, what are we paying the premiums for?!! The 3rd tier is $50!!

That sounds really nice about the beach vacations too. We were going to do one last October but we did WDW instead, lol. It was just as much as renting a beach house in August, so... WDW (with free dining) it was.

We've never stayed at the Poly before, it's our first Deluxe at Disney. I hope it's as great as it looks. I loooove Ohana so I'm hoping to get an ADR (at a decent time) for that too. Heh I look at the Poly Pics Thread every few days... it just gives me that "ahhhhhhhhh...." feeling. I wish I could live there!

I should take a skip up to IKEA one of these days. We need a new bed for DD anyway, so it's worth a shot. She's in the toddler bed version of the crib now, but that's gonna go to DS when he arrives. They have some cute kid stuff, so hopefully we'll find some goodies.

Oh!! I loooove Iheartcvs.com It totally rocks!! Thanks!!

It's HOT here. It should not be this hot in April :(. Even with the air running in my house, I'm in a sports bra and jogging shorts :(

Oh I loooooooooooove Ikea. We drove 3 hours to Atlanta specifically for an afternoon at Ikea two weeks ago. We ended up buying several of their Expedit bookcases and this bed for DD:

It's so cute, we love it!

Eeek! :scared1: Our prescription copay is either $5 or 15% for brand name. Not terrible at all, $20 would be crazy! I'd be telling my pediatrician he needed to chill with the scripts and start giving me samples to figure out which ones works. :rotfl: I love our insurance, though. It's 85/15 coverage and maternity is 100% w/o copays or deductible requirement.
(Funny about the milk allergy, DS was cow's milk intolerant at birth but seems to have outgrown it. he can handle cheese and yogurt, haven't tried straight milk yet though.)

I have now started looking at DVC and this may be the end of me. :lmao: Now I want to buy so bad! I told DH we only need to take a little from our savings to buy a resale... he looked like this: :scared1::eek::mad:
Oh, well. Id on't want to go until 2012 I've got 2 more years to work the idea of DVC into his mind. :rolleyes1

Piecy: happy birthday! I LOVE our DVC! Love it! Good luck convincing your DH! Buying resale is smart; we should have done that, but we didn't. I want to do an add-on at Au-lani depending what the minimum point add on is and the price per point; I want that 11 month booking advantage!

I have already had some, erm, leakage as well. Yuck.

Tomorrow is our big ultrasound. I am very excited! I can tell them right where baby is too: lodged in my left side. IDK why, but it is very very painful, it feels almost like there is a giant moving rock sitting there, LOL, and I know it will only get worse! Hopefully he or she moves out of that spot soon!

Do you have a local Ikea you can check for the furniture before it is gone?

I just have to keep it in my head that we're going to Disney for Christmas/my birthday, and we're finally staying at the Poly. (which is gonna set us back almost 3500...):scared1: That's not even club level or theme park view, either!:scared1::scared1: That's like, double what we usually spend for Disney b/c we usually stay at Pop. Like the old Clairol commercials, "I'm worth it." (right?)

Awesome, I am so jealous! And of course you're worth it! :goodvibes

I can't stand my insurance company. As if we don't pay enough for premiums, then the dr visits, meds, etc (I have a high deductible health plan, employer doesn't offer HMO anymore), then they still give us hassle about filling prescriptions. I have to pay 100% of the cost - why do they care what prescription I fill?!

Wow, for once the weather here isn't the hottest in the country! We're actually comfortably in the lower 80s right now. :cool2:

I am so with you, except we don't have the money in savings. If we did, DH would agree to purchase DVC in a heartbeat.

Hmm, I must be missing something - what is Au-lani? Sounds like DVC at Poly - if so, we need to find the money!

Yay for the big u/s - can't wait to find out what you're having!
