Moms to be Part 4

Mrs. C: I have been feeling some flutters too. Of course, then when I don't feel them for a while all of the anxiety comes rushing back...ahhh....I have been sickly today and yesterday too. I've had a bit more energy lately, but yesterday I was a lump. I didn't even change the channel on the TV (with the remote even)...it was too hard...LOL

LaurenLC: Sorry if I offended you as well. My mother was never sick with me or my sister either. I think what my Dr meant was that it was certaintly possible to have no sickness during pregnancy and have a normal pregnancy (like you are having, yeah!), just that many MC don't have sickness...not that the lack of sickness indicates inevitable MC...it can be related but they don't go hand in hand...I hope that made sense and I didn't make things worse!

Haha OMG I know exactly what you mean about the anxiety rushing back. I was panicking a few days ago. Now s/he's fluttering away. I have better days and worse days too. If I didn't have DD to chase after, I would SO not leave the bed. Alternately, some days I have wicked cabin fever!

My mom tells me all the time how she was never sick with me, either. I get to be the lucky one who gets the sickies. :scared1:

If this was said with a little tongue and cheek then I apologize, but there is no correlation between sickness and healthy pregnancies. I haven't been sick once in my entire pregnancy and comments like the one above have caused me to worry like a crazy woman. I have brought up the fact that I haven't had any sickness at EVERY doctor's appointment I've had, and have been told that there is no correlation between sickness and healthy pregnancies at EVERY doctor's appointment.
Again, I apologize if I upset anyone with this, but for me, it's a very touchy subject.

I didn't have any issues with DS, either. I was on this thread and people brought that up and I was like "SERIOUSLY? Crap!" I was so worried!!!!!!!!

This time around I wish I weren't feeling anything. :rotfl:

Hi everyone! Just joining in, though I've been lurking for a while :)

This will be our first baby, due September 1st (one day after Piecey!).

This is my second pregnancy; I had a MC at 6 weeks with the first. I am finally starting to relax with this one now that the first trimester is over!

So far everything with baby has been going great. Our next appt is in about 2.5 weeks; and they will schedule the big ultrasound for two weeks after that. I have been very tierd and pretty nauseous, but I'm hoping it should get better soon!

Anyway, looking forward to getting to know everyone and getting some great advice!

-Amy

This is my third successful pregnancy with no morning sickness. I know what they say but I have never had an issue with it. I actually wanted it because it would worry me I didn't have it and therefore my hormones must not be working or something.

I think the membrane stripping did a bit. Went to see a movie with the kids last night and had some wicked cramps where I had to stop and lean on the bathroom counter. I couldn't sleep last night as I started to get a migraine and started throwing up...which is from stress (induction appt. looming). This morning my mucous plus is coming out. YAY a good sign. Midwife is coming over at 3 to try and strip me again. I can't wait :scared1: but it's for a good cause right? The blood after upset me. I wish the doctor would have warned me.

Thus ends the morning chronicles of the crazy pregnant lady for today.

There is no need to apologize to me. I am sorry if I upset or offended anyone as that was defiantly not my intent. I know everyone just wants healthy happy babies and it's terrifying to think something as silly as 'morning' sickness being a determining factor for that.

On a completely different subject, I went to the doctor today and was asked if I was eating. My husband actually sat there and laughed at the doctor, which caused me to give him an evil stare.:rotfl:
I told the doctor that of course I was eating, but that I was trying to eat healthier things. Apparently I haven’t gained as much weight as they thought I would.
Since the baby is measuring exactly where she should be the doctor isn’t overly concerned, but has asked me to make a conscious effort to eat.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Hello Ladies!!
I'm going to take a big leap of faith that I will carry this pregnancy to term and have a healthy happy baby in 36 weeks and go ahead and join you all. Yes....I'm only 4 weeks along. I had my first beta draw yesterday and will have my next one on Friday. If things look good I will have an ultrasound late next week or early the following week. Only symptom I'm having really is exhaustion....but I'm also taking a progesterone supplement AND got up at 4:10 this morning for bootcamp. So I'm not going to blame it all on the pregnancy. It looks like I'm the newbie of the group.....my due date looks like it will be 11/15/2010.
So happy to be here....and I recognize a few ladies from the TTC thread.

YAYYYY!! You're here!! :cheer2: Keep us posted on your progress!!

They officially put me on "work at home" rest until I deliver. So I'm working from home right now. It's okay. Yesterday it took 3 nurses, 1 midwife and 1 dr 45 minutes to find a heartbeat during my NST. If Spike hadn't been kicking around the whole time I would have been really worried.
Last night I was up all night long with horrible heartburn and it hasn't gone away. THat's really annoying.

Welcome!! It's exciting to get new people! :)

...I didn't want to just remove the top 2 people on the list without asking, but I think it's safe to do so by now. What do you guys think?? Hopefully they'll pop back in and let us know how things went but I think it's safe to assume that they're no longer pregnant...

Patsy - If you do that I am WAY TOO CLOSE to the top of the list!!

Patsy I deleted people as their due dates past when we hadn't heard from them in awhile, so I would go ahead and take them down.

WDWorBust - I was on progesterone shots with this baby too.

Bring a snack and have it after your blood test so that you don't have to wait through the appointment too. I've done the three hour test before, although not pregnant and it does suck but it's good to have the info. I have problems maintaining blood sugar levels when not pregnant- it tends to spike a tiny bit and then go really scary low- the worst being the time I passed out on the highway while driving and got into a really bad accident. I still have problems with my leg and hip from that, so as much as the test sucks, the info it can provide is worth it.

If you're having problems with not being able to go without eating and not feeling faint, I strongly encourage you to have someone bring you to your appointment and be prepared that if the test really messes with you to take the day off. Better safe than sorry and good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll put a granola bar in my purse and some juice or something. I have off until 4 that afternoon, but if it really screws me up I'm sure someone wouldn't mind covering for me. I'm glad to hear you're ok after an accident on the highway like that...leg and hip problems are better than not being here at all!

EmALee - Aren't co-workers subtle? When I was pg with DS, I don't remember how far I was, somewhere like 6-7 months and a woman in the elevator I had never spoken to before, said "wow! you really popped didn't you!" Umm, thanks?

Yeah, I don't really even know how to respond when someone says something like that. Although, suprisingly few people are feeling the need to rub my belly. My best friend told me tonight that one of our friends who had her baby in August was at Walmart one day and a stranger just walked up and touched her belly, apparently our friend didn't appreciate that and proceeded to run into her with a cart! :rotfl: I bet that person won't touch a pregnant woman without asking again!!

Welcome to you both! :goodvibes

Well I had my ultrasound on Monday, everything looks good. My wonderfully stubborn daughter decided she needed to bury her face into my stomach :sad2: so I don't have any pictures to post unfortunately. The one I do have is really creepy looking so I'm not going to bother.
We do have to change the due date...June 5th if you could take care of that Patsy. I'm not really happy about having to wait another 2 weeks but I had a feeling that was going to happen, I mean I could probably tell you the day, time and place I got pregnant  so I'm not really all that suprised.

welcome wdw.

I just have a vent.

My EDD is Sunday. I have a midwife and DH and I were hoping for a home birth like we had with our last DD. I have gestational diabetes which made me have to see an OB for a consult. I saw her on Monday and she scheduled an induction for this coming monday.
I have been trying EVERYTHING possible to get this baby out on my own. Nothing is working. Today is Thursday and stress and depression have set in. DH is very stressed now and didn't sleep well last night because he is worried about all this.

I called the hospital to ask how this all works. They will call us sometime between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. to come in. Well at 10 p.m. I go to bed I am not going to call my family to come over for child care at that time. If I did by the time I got to the hospital it would be midnight. Once there we have to wait in triage for a bed to be open. That area is open and you have nothing but a curtain dividing you from other people. That's not exactly conducive for rest. If and when they have a room I will go in there and get the pitocin I.V. Who knows how long that will take.

After baby is born I would then have to go into another room that I would share with another woman. Again, not conducive to rest.

I got off the phone and told this to DH who snapped. I spoke to my midwife after and she said that when they call people late like that they are setting them up for failure. That was my feeling too.

As soon as the needle is in my arm then care is transferred from my midwife to the doctor. As soon as things are fine with baby and me care is transferred back to the midwife and I can leave.

I know a lot of people won't understand the stress this is causing. I had a very traumatic birth with DD#1 because of the staff at the hospital and I had a really hard recovery. When I became pregnant with DD#2 I started having anxiety attacks thinking about going to an OB and a hospital again. Fortunately none of that happened.

Now I am worried about having anxiety attacks which is not good for me or baby. I was up Monday night this week throwing up and had a migraine because of this. I am trying to be calm and deal with today and not what Monday is going to bring but it is hard. We have had to turn the phone off and tell family to leave us alone. We were getting up to ten calls a day asking us if there were any "rumblings" or "twitches". Like we are going to keep it a secret or something. It drove us nuts. Family have not been understanding about that and my MIL was pretty cold to use when we spoke to her yesterday.

Anyway...sorry about the long rant. It's a vent and there is nothing much anybody can do but I needed to get it out.

KiKiMouse, I can totally understand how that would stress you out!!

The hospital I mentioned that I hate is setup similar. Obviously, I'm planning a c-section so things are totally different, but I hated the idea of it too. You're not alone on thinking that SUCKS!

They seriously have you share post-partum rooms? Ugh, I would HATE that!!!

Is your midwife not willing to let you go past your due date, because of the gd?
I'm sorry, as having to go to the hospital is clearly not the option that you want. That totally stinks. :(

..have you tried pineapple? I've heard fresh pineapple can help.

yes you have to share PP rooms! Sometimes there are L+D rooms but maybe four??? on the ward. Good luck getting one. Plus with being induced you get a high risk room and then are moved after.
I had to share a room after DD#1 was born. It was a nightmare. I was brought up at 3 a.m. and at 6 a.m. my "roomie" decided to have some kind of breakdown and the nurse came in and all I could hear is "you know we talked about post partum depression". ugh. Then her whole family was in there during the day. She was discharged that day thank goodness and then I got another one that went out to smoke and would come back with bags of chips. That one also dripped all over the bathroom floor so I had to try and tip toe around it to go to the bathroom myself.
At the hospital I am going to they used to have 4 women together in PP rooms. I am not 100% sure if they are still doing that but can you imagine?

haven't tried pineapple. Have tried:
membrane sweep 3x, 4th one is this afternoon
acupuncture
breast pump
s-e-x
walking
eliptical machine
praying
begging
crying
blasting Beastie Boys in the car...LOL
castor oil concoction

Holy crap!!! I am so grateful for my local hospital now.

I'm so sorry. That is such a crappy situation!!
