Moms to Be Part 3

Honestly I just plan on going to the base hospital (Bethesda actually) for Peds visits. I've heard good thing about the Peds docs there, and they have a whole host of specialists right in the same building. I'm not one to delay vaccines so that's not a real selling point for me. The only one I'm a little cautious about is the chicken pox vaccine. I can see why you'd want to vaccinate, because there are people who have very bad reactions to contracting varicella. These days, since most people get the vaccine for their kids, the chances of a kid contracting it are slim, and the risk of long term effects rises as you get older. So anyhow.. that's one I'll likely do but be a little... weird on, I dunno how to describe it.

Locolala - The one on Rockville Pike? My husband has worked there and Walter Reed and loved all the physicians there. My friend is a orthopedic surgeon at Walter Reed and other than civilians getting paid more than him, he has no complaints.

Walter Reed is around D.C.?
Learn something new everyday!
DH is friends (graduated high school with) Jessica Lynch and I've heard her mention it a few times but for some reason I thought it was in Texas. I wonder why? lol.

So, I had a pretty uneventful pregnancy with Lucas but this time around I'm already nauseous from certain smells.
I couldn't eat cheese (any variety) with Lucas at about 5 months and on... but I can't even open the fridge now w/o gagging because I can smell the cheese.
DH tried to kiss me but he'd just had a cheeseburger and I made him brush his teeth. :rotfl:
I wonder what it is about cheese...

Yeah, I think it's Rockville Pike. I have all my OB care there and I love it so far. It's worth the drive, it really is. It's actually kind of nice to have the time in the car with DH (I don't drive anymore) and we can just chill and listen to music and chitchat. We also normally go out to eat after appointments, so that's nice :)

IT'S A GIRL!! Thank goodness. So now I can't wait for my little Allison Siarra or Rosalie Lynn to arrive (I can't pick a name). :yay:

DH made it home safe and sound yesterday. Now we just have to get adjusted to living together again!! And now, we can get the kids' rooms all switched, so we are ready for Elliott.

Thankfully, my assistant for my dance classes started last night. So hopefully I can get her on the right track with everything, so I am comfortable leaving my classes. It just stresses me out, because although my routines are close to being finished (I have 5 dance classes, which equals 8 routines total), I really want to have them finished before the baby is born! Also, our recital is the first week in March, so that doesn't leave me much time when I come back!! I am hoping to only miss two weeks of classes, and at least be able to come back and observed (and correct!) if necessary!

Congrats EmALee! I like both of your name choices too. I briefly considered Allison, but my 1st daughter is Madison and I thought it was too rhyme-y.

BabyTigger - Yea for your husband coming home! I didn't know you taught dance classes. That must be great at keeping you flexible for labor.

Ha! Flexible is something I am definately NOT!!! But, I figure it keeps me active, at least 2 days a week. Monday dance classes are definately harder on me, as I teach a beginning pom, an advanced pom, and an advanced jazz class. Tuesdays I do a beginning tap and ballet and an advanced tap and ballet. I have been teaching for our local Park and Rec department for 15 years now. I couldn't imagine not doing it anymore!!

Just back from our 38+ week appointment. I'm not dilated at all but I am 80% effaced and at 0 station....so basically nothing to report except I'm still waiting!

Well at least there is something going on cappygirl. I have heard effacement is the toughest part so that seems pretty good.

I have to fill in for library duty in my daughter's class today and then I'm off to the OB as well. He did offer to do an internal exam and since I am getting the GBS test today I figure I might as well. Probably will be the only one I get as I am so not a fan of internals!

The actual exam wasn't horrible - although definitely not pleasant but I've felt so sore since then! How long does that last?

Good luck with your appointment!

I wish I could say, but I only ever had 1 internal exam while pregnant and it was 6 years ago. My SIL's OB told her that sometimes internal exams can help you start dilating so maybe that's what the soreness is related to?

I'm about to wake my husband up (he was working overnight) and leave for my appt. He can park free at the hospital which is a block away from my dr so I am making him come with me. He can sit in the waiting room during the exam though cause that just seems creepy for some reason!

Well, it must be doctor day for everyone! I am headed to the doc in about an hour. DH will be picking me up at work, which is nice, since it is snowing and blowing. And, I am going to make sure the doctor tells him how nice he needs to be over the next 3 or so weeks until Elliott comes (nothing like a little guilt trip!).

I don't remember being sore after I got checked.
But the first time they checked with Lucas I was 1cm and 80% effaced (If I remember right) so maybe that is why. :confused3

I don't ever remember being sore after an internal exam either, and I had at least 4 at the end of my last pregnancy. I was 100% effaced and dilated 1cm. Never got past that one lousy cm either. :rotfl:

I'm sorry yours was painful cappygirl. :(

Thanks, everyone. I've been feeling pretty blah all day over all so maybe the soreness isn't directly related to the internal?
I guess we'll find out if it happens again next week (unless of course this baby decides to make an appearance by then.....trying to stay positive :) )

Thank goodness! I was afraid I would have to volunteer because I was feeling so bad for justthat... and I am notoriously bad at keeping up with this kind of thing! Really, just check out the cruise meet threads that I've started.

Well, I am one centimeter dialated, and Elliott's head is VERY low. And, I hurt now from the internal. Kind of just a dull ache, nothing major. More annoying than anything.
