Moms to Be Part 3

Cappygirl, with my 1st 2 kids I ate Mexican food the day before they were born. Purely coincidence I am sure, but hey, maybe there was something to it!

Patsy - I'll pass on the info, and if I get desperate in the next week be sure and try it myself. ;) I would love for my friend to deliver cause she goes to my OB so it would open up more appts!

BabyTigger - I am right there with you on being awake for no reason other than just pain. If I'm going to have pain the least it could do is be productive!

Fresh pineapple has a chemical in it that helps with dilation. I forget exactly- but it's only in the fresh stuff. Canned need not apply!

I think it is really more for effacement. . . but both go hand in hand. . .

Still hangin in here, the round ligament pain is still driving me up a wall. I can't wait for next month to get here, level 2 ultrasound woohoo!! I'm sick of the cold, ready for spring.

Hi, everyone!

Just wanted to stop in, it's been a while. I've had really bad nausea this time around and just been so exhausted, I hadn't done a lot of DISing. Actually, for a time, reading and the computer in general made the nausea worse which is some cruel trick of fate. I love to read!

Anyway, I have my first ultrasound tomorrow (12 weeks) so that's exiting. My husband can't make it so my parents and my son will be there. I can't wait to see what my four (almost five) year old thinks of the ultrasound.

I can't wait to hear about your shower! You must be excited that it is getting close.

I can't believe that not only is my shower coming up so quick, but the baby too!

Here's a shower etiquette question.... does the husband always pick up the mom to be at the end of the shower to help with gifts? if I am driving myself there how does that make sense. DH's brother is adamant that DH should arrive at the end of the shower with flowers to pick me up. He did that for his wife at her shower. :confused3

I've never heard of that before.

I drove myself. I did end up calling DH to see if he wanted to come help afterwards, too. I think he only came for the leftover food, though. :rotfl:

Hey Ladies!

Sitting here in my OBs office ( DISing from my iPhone) waiting for him to come in and torture me. It's my first appt of this pregnancy with him and I think a Pap is planned. Ugh!

Will check in later- I think I hear him in the hall.

My husband came to get me, but only cause he was friends with the husband of my friend who hosted it. So he drove me there, dropped me off, went out with my friend's husband, then came back to get me. So no flowers or any of that.

And I know what you mean about the baby being so close! The end kinda sneaks up on you.

Jenn - I hate paps in general, but I got 2 while pregnant and that was even more annoying. This time I had one done in March so when this kid was conceived I was already set. Good luck!

Tarzan - I had that issue with sickness in the beginning, where computer screens made me more nauseous than usual. It did catch me up on book reading though!

Locolala - I am so ready for spring too! Not at all into this 30 degree stuff. I hope the RL pain goes away soon.

Today's ultrasound went well I guess. She's somewhere around 7lbs 2oz, measuring 38-39 weeks all around, and the EDD based on that is 1/23. So I am hoping that is my end date cause I can definitely handle another 12 days, but don't want much more than that!

Jenn,
My MW won't do paps for me when I am pregnant because if it causes any type of spotting she knows I will be sick with worry. My gyne was doing them every regularly so I am okay. I'll have my next by the MW 6 weeks after this baby is born.

My good news for today is my appt. at the diabetes clinic went well and they are not putting me on insulin yet. I have another appt. next Monday and they will monitor my weekly levels.
*whew* what a load off my mind. Hard work to eat "diabetic" but it has been worth it.
I lost 5 lbs which the doctor thinks is mostly water from less sodium from eating real food. My ankles are not swollen anymore either.

I'm not really up on shower etiquette. My husband did come at the end because his family lives far away and for him not to see his mother / sisters / aunts would have been silly.

Good luck to everyone who has doctor's appointments. Was I ever glad when my first one was over!!! :lmao:

I'm glad I can look at a computer screen again, because it was killing me at work! I'm a bank teller, and that's pretty much what we do.

I don't think it's something that has to happen, especially the flowers part. Would be nice, but not required. Very sweet though!!

At one of my showers my MIL and friends helped pack everything up. At another, we had a couples shower so he was already there! I guess it's whatever you and DH decide.

Hey Ladies! I am not currently pregnant - nor plan to be - but I just found out I am going to be an aunt again! I am so excited!!!!!! i thought this would be a good place to share that excitement!!!!

How exciting!!! I am an aunt to 4 great nieces and nephews. They are very excited to be getting a cousin :goodvibes

Thanks for everyones input on the shower thing. I'll talk to DH about it and see if he minds dropping me off and picking me up. I don't like driving anyways

edited: hey! I just noticed that I reached 2000 posts! whee!!

I don't think he HAS to come, unless you want him/need him to. For our family shower we did a couple's shower, so DH was there. Some ladies at church threw me a shower also, DH did not come to that, we got all the gifts home between my MIL and Mom.

My DH did not come to my showers but that was because I flew from Florida to MA for them!! He stayed home that weekend! I don't know that it matters honestly ... whatever works for you.

I am so jealous of so many of you guys getting close. This pregnancy is KICKING my butt. I am up every night with headaches, DS #1 is not sleeping well and seems to be waking up in the AM, just after I fall asleep from the headache. I can't move in bed without being in pain, my hips, my back, my pelvis. Everything is just suddenly starting to hurt. I am getting contractions (at least I *think* that is what they are, I am not sure) every night in my lower abs which cause some pretty strong pains along the sides. They aren't regular and they come and go but it hurts. My back hurts. Everything just hurts now.

Phew ... glad I got that out there. I also do not have ANYTHING ready in the nursery. NADA. Nothing. Need to start .... My mom told me to make a list of all the small stuff I need to get like new bottles, paci, diapers, wipes etc. and when she comes up in a week or two for a few nights we will go shopping for all that stuff.

At least you HAVE a nursery, DMickey! We don't even have a bedroom for Elliott yet! All the kids' rooms have to be moved. DH has only been home from overseas for a week, and we haven't even started moving stuff! I did get motivated on Sunday and got the car seat out of the box and ready to go, so I guess that is progress. We still have to go pick up the crib we are getting. I figure if worse comes to worse, he will sleep at the foot of our bed in the pack 'n' play that my sister is getting for us (that she still needs to buy!). Personally, I am not stressing about it. Whatever happens will happen. I think DH is a little more worried about it, but then again, that totally reflects our personalities!

Weirdest craving so far...

Bacon grease. EWWWWW. Yeah, that was a weird one.

On the nursery, ours is still our storage room. I need to get up the energy to go through all the crap in there.

Congratulations! I have two nieces I am over the moon for, so feel free to share your excitement here!

Oh, hon. I'm still at the beginning, and waking up 5-6 times a night to go to the bathroom. My nausea is gone. I can't wait for this kiddo to move up and off my bladder!

So I commiserate, and you may feel free to vent away! :goodvibes

Ew. That is gross. :lmao:

We actually don't have another bedroom to put the baby in. We live in a beautiful two bedroom apartment. Since I hope to nurse, I know the kiddo will be in our bedroom for a bit anyway, and then we'll have to reassess.

I'm finding out on March 9th (YEAH!!!!) what I'm having. If it's a boy, I know there won't be such an urgency for us to find an apartment with three bedrooms, or a home to buy. If it's a girl, we'll see.

This complex we live in also has beautiful two bedroom townhomes, very similar to having your own home. They're 1400+ sq. feet with a two car attached garage that has additional room for storage. Very, very nice. So that's a possibility too.

I went a little crazy in the past couple of weeks thinking we "had to" buy something, but in all reality, it would leave us in a horrible financial position, and I love the freedom of renting.

So right now, my biggest goal will be having to go through all of my son's baby stuff once we find out what we're having, and eventually, weeding out all the junk we have here that we don't use. Old things that just moved with us and have never seen the light of day! No matter the gender, it'll be a LOT of weeding out! :lmao:

Kat - I hate to break it to you but this LO has NEVER moved off my bladder. It has actually gotten worse as I have gone further along. I have learned to control it with my liquid intake towards the end of the day. He will just pounce on my bladder or kick on my bladder. It's the oddest feeling ... I suddenly just HAVE TO GO but never really do, you know?? On the flip side I have no rib pain or no problem breathing, so that's something.

Nooooooooooooo! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Well, I can always hope, right? I don't really know which would be more uncomfortable to me. I have a tiny bladder anyway, so I'm used to it, but it's definitely worse when I'm pregnant.

Now, my son used to position his feet right up into the top of my rib cage. I remember it distinctly. I used to try to massage his foot down. :lmao:
