Moms to Be Part 3

justthat said exactly what I wanted to say, and in a much better, more succinct way than I would have! There are even a few local physicians where I live that are even not recommending the H1N1 vaccine to their pts, saying it is too new. That's ridiculous, it's not a new vaccine, it's just a new strain of influenza. The fact that some doctors aren't on board just heightens the public's fear, when they should be working to dispell untruths and rumors. I know people who got the seasonal flu shot, but won't get the H1N1 shot and are surprised when I tell them that's it's essentially the same thing, they just didn't have time to get H1N1 in the seasonal flu shot or they wouldn't be needing 2 shots. My husband's office got a letter from the CDC urging them to make sure they discuss this with people, and get the info out that the vaccine is made the same way as the seasonal flu shot. Unfortunately this year, so far, all of the flu has essentially been H1N1 so to this point the regular seasonal flu shot won't be helping anyone. That could change, so it's still important to get, but when people don't understand they think the flu shot just didn't work, when it's just that it didn't cover the right strains. Again, in case you can't tell, I'm a huge proponent of vaccines. I strongly believe in avoiding any illness possible!

I officially waddle, apparently!! I had two people comment to me today that I am waddling when I walk. I don't think it is all the time, though (at least I hope not!). I think it is mainly when I stand up, because it feels like my insides are going to fall out, and everything is pushing downward. Not very comfortable at all!!!

On the plus side, my hair dresser/cousin's ex-wife just gave me a bunch of baby stuff yesterday!! Now, if my sister would just find out about her crib that she had loaned to someone else....

I am starting to freak out about H1N1. My old OB was not very interested in me getting it. He thinks I am low risk but I just had the intake meeting with my new OB and they are recommending it.

I am a SAHM, DS stays with me and I limit his contact with others. No gym childcare, no gymboree or anything like that. My DH works out of the house but within the next few weeks is going to start traveling so that has me concerned. Dh is on the fence about getting it too so I am not sure what to do. If I decide to get it, he will go ahead and get it. He doesn't have any high risk situations either, except that he had a nasty virus go to his heart in May and landed him in ICU for three days ... I dont know if that would count as a higher risk person. I suppose we should ask his cardiologist about that.

I hate these decisions. I vax DS but on a spaced out schedule ... I just don't care of the idea of vax's in general but realize their place and their helpfulness ... The H1N1 just scares me. Either way we most likely won't get it for DS. I just don't know if DH and I should get it.
My wife thought that she was low-risk for H1N1. Then she caught it.

If it makes you feel any better, I've had a few people this week tell me I look absolutely miserable. Ok, so that is true but, I really don't need people telling me that.;)

Cathy had slightly high blood pressure at yesterday's OB appointment, so they ran some bloodwork to check for preeclampsia. It came back this morning showing slightly higher uric acid. They have admitted her to the hospital and are doing a 24hr unrine screen to see if there is a real issue. The worse-case scenario is that they will induce and we will get to hold Sarah sooner than expected.

Hope everything goes smoothly for you guys! Good luck!!

Hope everything comes back ok. I'm hoping not to have a repeat performance of High Blood pressure this thursday if I make it to Thursday. I had a growth scan ultrasound today and he's measuring at 7lbs 9oz. Nice healthy size, but with my 5'1" frame I'm thinking he may be getting to big.

Sbell - Hope the 24 hour testing went well and there's no preeclampsia. Is Cathy at 37 weeks now?

Like you mentioned with your wife getting H1N1, as low risk as you might think you are, being pregnant makes you quite susceptible to contracting illnesses.

BabyTigger - Don't you just love that pregnancy waddle! I do the same thing if I have been sitting awhile, but I've been feeling like it's a little early for that. Glad to know someone else due around me is doing the same thing.

Kristen - I'm only 2 inches taller than you so my huge fear was that I'd have this huge baby and end up needed a c-section cause it couldn't fit. They were big, particularly for their gestations (8lbs 4oz), but they did fit nicely. My daughter needed forceps but that was due to the rotation of her head. My son just slid out, thanks to his big sister paving the way with her big head. ;)

Well, apparently I didn't knock on wood hard enough. Last night I started with a sore throat, and now my eyes are getting all itchy. Hopefully it is just something minor!!!

Hey folks! I've been out of the loop for a while with work. Then I got sick last week! Thank goodness it was just a bad cold and not the flu! I think my mom was more worried than I was (gotta love grandmas!).
I had my first experience with prego sickness. My sweet hubby loves Asian cuisine (Chinese, Japanese, etc) and I haven't exactly craved it since I've been pregnant. So Friday I decided we could succumb to his request and went out for Chinese (great restaurant!) and I ordered a dish I've had plenty of times! Maybe the spice was a little too much for me because by midnight my stomach was turning in directions I didn't know existed! And it didn't help that Baby Girl was moving quite a bit, too (she probably didn't care for the food). Next thing I know I ran to the bathroom and recreated scenes from the Exorcist!! :scared1: It was so bad that I busted a blood vessel in my eye (gross, I know)!
So up until last week I would say my pregnancy has been relatively easy. And it still is for the most part (minus my weird-looking eye). Just a few more months to go and she'll be here!!

By the doc's dates, we are at 37 weeks. However, if you factor in when we KNOW we conceived, we are actually right around 38.

We still have another hour or two to go for the 24 hour testing. Then the docs will decide whether to send us home or schedule the induction.

What did your dr base his dates on? My due date if calculated from LMP on that OB Wheel would have been 2/8, but I just fudged the LMP date by 3 days as I knew I O'd early that month and had been having 26 day cycles, not 28. But I had my 1st ultrasound before I saw my actual dr and that one put my due date at 2/4, which is basically exact for the LMP I gave the dr. Now, however, like my other kids, the baby is measuring large and at my last ultrasound the due date was 1/30. We'll see what the next one says at 30 weeks.

With my son, I know he was due 8/29 as I knwo the only day he could have been conceived. He was so big the ultrasound pushed his due date back to 8/8. He was born 8/4.

So sorry that you got sick!!! I hope that you are feeling better :goodvibes I had an episode like that a few weeks ago after eating at Red Lobster. Yeah, I won't be having that again. :lmao:

I am very jealous of those of you who have only been sick once! At 27 weeks, I still have days of all day sickness, which I was totally over by now with my first 2 kids, so it is less than welcome, but at least it's better than where I was over the summer. To think about a pregnancy without the sickness, well, I would definitely have that 4th kid cause that's about the only thing that holds me back from the idea.

We have parent-teacher conferences today so I am off to drop the kids at my friend's house, then go to the school, then back to her house to watch her kids during her conferences. Then I get to come home and pack, take the kids to my daughter's dance class, and finally come back home to finish packing.

What did your dr base his dates on? ...
The first ultrasound and wild guessing.

They did release Cathy from the hospital yesterday and put her on bed rest as they did detmine that she did have mild preclampsia. They expect to induce her next Wednesday, if she doesn't go into labor earlier. She does think that the baby dropped last night, so it might not be much longer that we have to wait.

Wild guessing, huh. ;) I think that first ultrasound is fairly accurate, and only a few days off from your own dates, right? My dr says unless there is a diffference of 2 weeks or more he doesn't change the due date.

Next Wednesday is coming up quickly-you'll have your little girl before you know it! When I felt my first drop, she was born 2 days later, so maybe your wife will have that luck too.

It's off by 9 to 18 days. She was conceived between February 14th and 23rd. The doctor's dates put conception around March 4th.

Helloooooo??? Anybody home???? Had trouble finding the thread!!

Hope everyone is doing well!! I am still fighting off a cold that I got last week, but other than that, things are great. Elliott has been moving around like CRAZY!!! Well, except for when my niece tries to feel him. Then he decides to be silent!

We saw the doc this morning. He has scheduled Cathy's induction for bright and early Wednesday morning.

Hope everything goes well with the induction...if my little guy doesn't decide to come out soon you'll have your little girl in your arms before me!

I have another doctors appt. on Thursday and if Evan hasn't arrived by then, then we are scheduling an induction because of his size. I don't think he's coming out anytime soon and is just way to comfy in there! Sigh...I want to see you little boy!!
