Moms to Be Part 3

Hi everyone, can I join in?

Tomoroow we will be at six weeks. We just had our first ultrasound yesterday and it was so exciting. The Dr did say that the heartrate was a little low though (97 BPM at 5 wks 5 days) so I have been worried ever since. I have to go back two weeks from yesterday to have another ultrasound done.

I am feeling optomistic, but I am still nervous. I have found on the internet that 97 BPM isn't that low at that stage, but the nurse asked if we were coming back in four weeks, so I am worried to have to come back in two that something isn't right.

Anyone have this experience and have everything be ok?

Our due date is April 9, 2010! We are telling my parents tomorrow night and I am nervous about that too. My mom can be strange and I am not sure how she will feel about it.

Anyway, that was a long rambling first post. I am excited to be here and hope to get to know all of you better as the months go by!

Amy

WELCOME!! Hopefully all is well. Nurse just asked about 4 weeks because at this stage your normally go every four weeks - but your doctor is probably just being cautious and wants to check the baby again sooner because there are things they can do to help if needed (like if your progesterone is low they can give you an RX, etc).

I had no problem with the orange drink. The nurse took it out of a fridge, poured it into a cup and mentioned that it's easier to just chug it. It tastes just like flat orange soda. Don't worry too much about it.

Welcome Iris! :wave2:

I went to fill a perscription at the drug store today. Copay is $10; when I get to the counter it's $122. Apparently we have NO INSURANCE since it was cancelled on 7/1. UMMMM....it'd be nice if someone would have told us! :headache: Apparently his work just found out "recently" via a letter from the health care company that it was cancelled 7/1 and they are in the "process of getting it reinstated". What's gonna happen if I deliver before it get's reinstated? What about the 7 paychecks he's been paying our deductable from? :headache:
YIKES! Hopefully that all gets fixed, no fair you had to pay that much for an RX!!

Yellowfish-

If I were you, I would be on the phone like CRAZY with some insurance people. Does your Dhs work have an agent that they use for insurance? If so-- id be on them!!

Have you packed your bag yet? You are due right when I am. I got my carseats installed properly by a certified police officer today and will pack my hospital bag today I think.

Skylarr-- where are ya? Any progress since your last update?

irisbud, I don't remember what DDs heartrate was, but we went at 6w and then again at 9w just for regular ultrasounds. Sounds your doc is like mine and likes to do them often. I think I had 5 or 6. Don't worry - I'm sure all will be well. :)

I'm around. I have been cleaning like crazy! Today I spent the day rearranging a book shelf for no reason really...it ended up almost exactly the same.

I'm just waiting around anxiously thinking it could be anytime now :scared1: He definitely feels really really low.

Maggie - so we have been on the phone like crazy for the past two days. There is only so much we can do at this point. But I think we have it worked out...since his cancelled I can get insurance through where I work BUT we have back pay until 7/1 (which is like $800). It's doable for us - and from here on out, his work is willing to pay the difference between the cost of his insurance to my insurance. BUT they are working on getting it reinstated (we'll know by Wed.) which will give no lapse in coverage.
At this point, we are kind of hoping that they don't get it reinstated. If they are willing to pay for it from here on out, why not give us a check for the amount back to July? We'd rather go with mine at this point, but if it's reinstated, our next chance to get my insurance is when the baby is born.
(Confused yet? :-) I am!) It'll work out for us somehow. I'm just crossing my legs until next Friday. :teeth:

Car seat is not yet installed, but we have it! :teeth: Haven't packed a bag yet either...I still need to go buy some sports bras (for the tub that I'm hoping to use so the girls aren't out and about a lot) and pads for afterwards (there is no way I'm going to explain to DH on where to go, what to buy...) and I'd love to get a coming home outfit for the baby. But that's kind of hard to do given we don't know what we are having yet....I really don't think I'm gonna go early either, I don't feel like I've dropped at all.

Yellowfish- It sounds like you have a great plan (although I admit- i am confused-- but no need to explain it to me haha).. and thats all that matters. If you dont feel youve dropped id say you are good until next friday!

I found myself lactating last night... it was a shocker. I expected that to happen after delivery, not at 36wks...lol

I've been leaking for a few weeks now...not bad enough that I need pads or anything, but it was definately a shocker the first time it happened. (It's nice to know the girls are working right since they are about 4 times their normal size!)
Crap! That's something else I don't have yet either! Nursing bras! Looks like I'm off to Target tomorrow...

I am so excited for all of you that are due so soon!!

The first time they put that baby in your arms is pure magic :lovestruc

My goal for today: pack my hospital bag! I'm off to Target (for me) and Carters (for the boy or girl coming home outfit) and maybe a stop at the local fire department to see about installation of the car seat. Oh, and I have to go to the post office and mail the thank you cards...better get going!

yellowfish I still have a whole baby showers worth of thank yous to write. Like 50 cards or something. I have put it off for so long I really need to get on it.

Today i hope to get my bag packed as well... I really need to wash my nursing bra's too (and try them on to make sure they still fit from when I first bought them). I got my carseat bases installed in both cars yesterday, so that part is finished.

It seems so hard to pack a bag for yourself. Packing up clothes that you will need between now and then.... makeup and toiletries that you will also need... and these are all things you dont want to go looking for last minute.

Most of the day is gone and nothing got done that I wanted too...I went to BRU and returned some things and noticed that they had the display model of our stroller $60 off. And they said I can use my 10% coupon plus 15% off coupon on top of that...so I had them hold it until end of day tonight. I went on the Chicco website and saw how it works and I'm gonna head back with DH and we'll make sure everything looks good on it and I think we'll just go ahead and buy it. Why not, right? Never been used, wheels are just dusty from being wheeled around the store and its put together...

As for nursing bra's, that was just a laugh today. I think I have to go to Penny's to see if I can find any there. Target had some but most are underwire (which I was told not to buy) and I'm falling out of them. The one that seemed to fit the best had a huge gap between the girls, so I must need to go up at least one more cup size; which of course, Target did not have.
I did find some cute outfits at Carter's Outlet though that were really cheap - I think we'll be stopping there too to get the coming home outfit(s)...they have some adorable jumpers for girls out now and the cutest red and white baseball "outfit" that says Mommy's All Star...

Where is a good place for a Busty mom to get nursing bra's?? I've heard the target ones, that don't have underwire, are good. . . but I wanted to hear from you all (if there are some of you out there that have my **issue**, LOL).

So much for thinking that I was getting my sleep back under control. Not so much anymore.

Guh, and can I please start looking pregnant instead of fat?

And I if I thought hard enough, I could probably think of more things to complain about, but it hurts to much to think lately.

Guh!

The only place I could find a bra that fit me (and I am pretty busty pre-baby so during my pregnancy they were ridiculous looking) was at Motherhood Maternity. I found ONE bra at Target that fit me okay but they only had one in my size and the other ones were really uncomfortable. But Motherhood Maternity is where I found some really good ones that fit comfortably. I'm still using them right now even though I already stopped nursing Jake. They're definitely more expensive than Targets but it was worth it IMO because all the others I tried just didn't fit right. Just my personal experience though. Good luck finding some! I know what a hassle it can be when you're pretty well endowed :rolleyes1

I'm far from 'busty,' but I have been happiest with the bras I got at Motherhood as well.

Hi everyone! We were away with my mom last week, which was interesting to say the least. She decided last November to book this Royal Caribbean Nickelodeon cruise for the kids for Christmas, which was great, but she is NOT used to boys and I think she was very ready to be rid of my son by the end of the week! He's 'active' on a good day, to say the least, but when she's around he just gets wild and uncontrollable. She lets him do what he wants, despite what I try to say or do, then gets annoyed that he's all over the place and says he's uncontrollable. My daughter just sits and colors and having only had girls, that's what my mom is used to, and she cannot handle my son's constant activity level. To top off dealing with her attitude all week, she forgot her flight was Friday night and missed it (she thought it was Saturday, luckily the cruise left Sunday) and then forgot her passport on Saturday so we were stuck at the port Sunday while she tracked down her secretary, the only person with a key to her house, to go in and search for her birth certificate. Luckily, by some miracle, she found it, faxed it to the port, and they let her on the ship, but for a good hour and change we were just sweating it out. It was fun, but I am definitely glad to be back home!

I have a couple of Target nursing bras that I like, some from Motherhood Maternity, and then some from the lactation consultant's shop. I think those were Bravado brand mostly. I got most of them after my daughter was born as the ones I got before her did not seem to fit right once my milk came in. I was huge after she was born and again with my son, then when he weaned my breast tissue seemed to go away with the milk and I shrunk down to nothing. Seriously, it's sad and depressing. I was never huge pre-kid, but a solid B cup, and before I got pregnant with this one I was barely an A. Between kids 1 and 2, I went from pregnant to nursing to pregnant again without a break so I never had any sort of shrinkage then, but wow did that hit after #2 weaned! My MIL warned me that would happen and I thought she was crazy, but seems it was true.

Melessa - Sounds like you had a pretty fast labor and delivery! Sorry about the pain, but at least it didn't drone on hours or anything.

Welcome Irisbud and congrats! Hope things go well at your next appt. I wouldn't be worried about when you have to go back in cause I think all drs just do it differently.

Tomorrow I have to go for my 1st progesterone shot, which I am not looking forward to at all. Miraculously my sickess started to die down a bit last week, weeks earlier than I anticipated, and I am so afraid the shots will kick that back into motion. But I have felt a few contractions already, also about 2 weeks before I expected, so I'll be getting the shot. It's weekly till 36 weeks to prevent another preterm birth, which I definitely don't want. The only thing is that my kids and I are leaving Sunday for WDW and my husband doesn't come in till Friday, so if I need the next shot on Tuesday I think I'll have to do it myself! Does NOT excite me at all because it's in the muscle and in the butt, and a nice, thick, oil based shot that supposedly hurts quite a bit. 2 of my friends are coming, but neither of them has ever given a shot before so I don't think they'll be much help either. Plus, being the baby I am, I want my husband to do them so that he can numb me with lidocaine first, and I can't exactly do that myself either. Nor will the nurse do that tomorrow in the dr's office, but they want me to get the first one there in the office so I can deal with the pain just once. Sounds insane, I know, given that I birthed my son drug free and plan to do the same this time, but don't want pain from a shot, but I am a big time shot baby!

Anyway, enough of my rambling for the day. Here's the updated list. Well, till we hear the details of Fintastic that is!

justhat- we had friends who just got off of the nickelodeon cruise as well!! How ironic! They got off the ship that just came back in. Im pretty sure theiirs left out last Sunday as well. Small world :)

I ended up finding bras that fit at Pennys...surprisingly they carried bras in stock up to size 42DDD and had a decent selection. I ended up finding two brands that fit comfortable, both the same size but one seemed to have more room in the cup than the other so that'll be my post baby bra for now.

For some reason DH is exausted the past two days and is sleeping at 7pm on the couch...go figure. And still no insurance as of today. Wednesday is the deadline.
