Moms to Be Part 3

Oh, and I finally started looking into pediatricians today. Most hospitals (including the one I'm delivering at) prefer you have your pediatrician picked out by the time you go into labor so I really need to start my search. I found a couple of pediatrics groups in the same medical center where my OB-GYN is so I am going to call them and see about getting Jake in. Did any of you all actually interview your pediatrician? Some of the books I have read give this whole list of prepared questions you're supposed to ask them but that seems a little odd to me. Is that the norm though? I don't know how to go about this so any mom's who already have pediatricians....help please :rotfl:

We interviewed ours. I didn't use a list I just asked questions about what happens at the hospital, will she come to see him, when would his first appointment be etc. She wanted to meet with us, I already knew of her so I didn't feel too strongly about an interview but when I called to see if she was taking new clients they set up an appointment with her.

I go for mine next week (Tues. morning). My doctor told me not to eat anything sweet the day before and it would help to prevent a false positive (also the morning of). My doctor also said to fast... she said its not necessary but a lot of people who dont fast end up taking the 3hr test.

Id be interested in tips as well-- since mine is next week :)

Well I ate before and passed, but nothing very sugary. My appointment wasn't until 3:45 so I didn't have much of a choice.

That's what I am hoping! Everyone says the last few weeks are the hardest and that they really drag by. For me, it feels like it took forever to get to month 8 and now it seems to be cruising along. So I hope it stays that way. I'm sure it'll get to that point anyway, the point where you just feel like it's taking forever for the baby to get here.

The only part that dragged for me was the beginning when i was so sick, once I started feeling better the time has just flown. I think the last few weeks will go by very quickly since I'm dreading labor so much.

I have to pick a ped too. I have no idea how to really get started. I'll talk to my OB on Wednesday...but she'll probably recommend the practice that hers is associated with.

I used a family referral, and I am extremely pleased. Very close to home and great reputation.

Let me just say I am so darn moody, my poor DH.

My last few weeks flew. I had so much going on now, though, that I regret not getting to spend more time focusing on being pregnant. Is that weird? It seriously seems like yesterday I got the + for me. It's a little surreal that now I have a 2wk+ old baby.

I had to apply for Lucas to get into the pediatrician I chose. He's the one EVERYONE wants to get into, according to all my nurse friends that I spoke with. One of my mom's nurse friends was shocked we got accepted. My OB takes her kids to him and he's a PPO provider so that is how I chose.... he doesn't allow interviews before the first hospital visit after Lucas was born. I wish I hadn't been so loopy when he came (8am after my 10pm c-section, I was still on morphine and everything ) but I've been very, very pleased with him so far (Lucas has been to his practice twice now since we were discharged due to his issues with the formula he was on...)

I want to get a pregnancy pillow and was wondering if anyone has one they recommend?I saw the ones that are really long and then I saw some shorter wedge type ones. What does anyone like?TIA

I've been using a body pillow and that seems to help me.

Checking in again! Still no baby-its been weird not being on here more but with my mom staying in the room that has the computer I don't want to be on here too long.

Ann, you were talking about getting the best sleep you have had in a while, I have been the same way the last two nights. Maybe its God's way of letting us have some great sleep right before we go into labor, knowing we are about to have SEVERAL weeks of sleepless nights! Keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us! I have a Dr.'s appt. on Tues. so we'll see how much more I have progressed!

Melissa-I can't believe you don't have A/c! I feel so horrible for you! Its just stinkin' hot here in St. Pete so I know you have got too be terribly warm there too!! I hope they have either already come or will come tomorrow to fix it!

Patsy-I absolutely love the announcements! They look fantastic! And what a deal!

I didn't want to spend a lot on one. I was told by someone on here (I think Maggie, sorry if I am wrong) that they hated their $50 pillow. . . and that they were using a body pillow and one of those squishy (bean bag like) smaller pillows under her belly and that was better.

anyhow, I went to walmart and bought an $8 body pillow and DH and I now call it my best friend, lol. I put it between my legs and then it is long enough that I put my arm around it and cuddle with it. It has helped so much - I cannot sleep without the pillow between my legs or else my hips kill me worse and I barely get any sleep. I guess when my belly gets bigger I will look into a small pillow to prop my belly on if I want/need.

Still hanging on here waiting:rolleyes1.

I have a 9am appointment, so I most likely wont be on in the morning.
I can't wait to go and find out what is going on, and what the next step is.
I am hoping she either decides to induce or strips my membranes to get things progressing. Fill you all in after the appointment.

It was me! :goodvibes

I still use the microbead squishy pillow now around where my incision is ... it's the only way I can sleep on my side but it works and I'm happy!

The dog slept on my $50 pregnancy pillow last night and DH and I both pet him and said "Glad someone is using it!" :rotfl:

Thanks. :goodvibes

Ann- I can't wait to check in tomorrow and see what is happening!! :lovestruc

I dont use my body pillow at all (I toss and turn too much to lug it from side to side-- although it was like an $8 pillow from Walmart-- its a good one though).

However, my backpain has decreased dramatically just by putting a stiff pillow between my legs at night so that my hips seperate. Ohh.... thats been my heaven!:cloud9:

I agree - the pillow between the legs is a heavenly must!

I keep the pillow for when I am sleeping on my left side (since I'm supposed to sleep mostly on that side anyhow), and then when i turn to the right side, I just pull the pillow between my legs, but don't bring it around to the other side. . .

Ann---keeping you in my thoughts today. I hope you've made some progress with that baby :goodvibes

Ditto!!

I found Dr Sears Baby Book for $1 at Half Price Books yesterday...figure I should have one big reference book to go to if I need it. That was probably the most exciting thing this weekend! :lmao:

I go for my Gest Diabetes test tomorrow... yuck! Also getting the rhogam-- double yuck!

I just called a local 3D/4D u/s place to schedule one. Any tips for getting good photos? She should be calling me soon to schedule it (she had someone at the time). Im excited. Also-- is paying for the DVD worth it on a 3D/4D scan?

Am I the only odd one that thought the orange drink tasted good? :teeth: Tasted just like flat orange Crush - and given I hadn't had pop in ages it satisfied my pop urges!

Hi girls, thanks for thinking of me today.

I am 4 cm. and 50 % efaced. They scheduled me to be induced 6/30 if this little princess does not appear by then. Dr. thinks I will have the baby before my next appointment which is Friday afternoon....gosh, I hope so!!! Emma's heartbeat was 155. My BP was up a bit 122/80 and I gained a pound (total
5lb for pregnancy). Feeling a bit crampy and tired after internal.
