Hello everyone! Just wanted to check in...but Jacob is here and he is absolutely perfect :lovestruc I am in total love!

I'll post my birth story and some pictures once I have a little more time but the basics are...he was born Friday July 31st, 2009 at 7:46 p.m. weighed EXACTLY 7 pounds and is 20 inches long. He's perfectly healthy in every way and we were both discharged from the hospital at around 3:30 this afternoon.

I'll post more soon but I am super tired right now and Jake's probably going to be hungry again soon so I gotta jet. Thanks for all your well wishes ladies! I'll be back as soon as I can :)

And for those of you who have me on FB, I will probably put up a quick picture tonight so you can see him there as well :thumbsup2
Congrats and can't wait for the info and photos!

I'm officially 34 weeks. It's really weird...

We also had our shower yesterday and got lots of fun stuff. I'm still doing laundry - I think I'm on load #2 of maybe 4 if I'm lucky. Babies R Us sends the 10% off coupon AFTER the baby is born, right? Does anyone know about Burlington Coat Factory (and what their % off might be)? I wanted to get the glider from there and that's something I'd like to have on hand before the baby is born...

Here's some preview pics of the baby's room. We are still looking for a hamper and a skinny shelf of some kind...there is only so much room in an 8x10 room.

Yellowfish - Those photos of your baby's room are gorgeous! Great job with the painting. Did you do it yourself? I love that woodland theme too. I have a thing for owls and forest creatures and bought my son a 2nd bedding set when he was about a year old cause it had those animals on it (and it was on super sale so I couldn't resist).

So, I'm sitting here at the computer waiting on our kids to get ready to go enroll for school and the phone rings. It was the hospital calling to go over final instructions for my Midnight induction tonight. The one that I had no idea my Dr. had scheduled because he didn't tell me. At least going into labor can be called a bit of a surprise to me this way. ;) Anyway, I'm scheduled for midnight, so I should probably have my baby by sometime tomorrow afternoon or evening. I just thought I would let you all know.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I may be a little biased but I think he's pretty perfect myself :lovestruc

Ok, the long awaited birth story...;)

Friday morning I was scheduled to go in at 5 a.m. Got there and they told me it may be a little while before they started me because they had a couple emergencies going on with some other deliveries. No big deal, gave me some more time to process everything that was going on ;) As my mom and I are sitting in the delivery room they put me in I go to pee and realize...hey, I am little um...damp down in that area. I told my mom and we both agreed that maybe my water had broken and was starting to leak. So around 730 the nurses come in, I get changed, put into the bed, and my doctor came in to check me. Sure enough my water had broken...perfect timing :rotfl: So she got the hook and finished the job...felt so gross too! Pretty much right away the contractions started...and they were ALL in my lower back. I figured I would have back labor and I was right. The nurse told me I could get the epidural any time I wanted because I was already 4 cm. dilated and the anesthesiologist was available if I wanted. So I said "let's do it!" :rotfl2: Remember I said I wanted as little pain as possible cause I am a big wimp. So the anesthesiologist came, did the epi (and I did feel the epi more since my contractions weren't horribly strong yet but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be), and I only had to feel the back labor for about 45 minutes. My mom kept telling me how lucky I was :teeth: After the epi, they started the pitocin to help my contractions along. I dilated to 10 and was 100% effaced by 430 in the afternoon. It probably would have gone by even quicker than that but Jake's heart rate kept dropping so they had to give me a REALLY low dose of the pitocin and at one point they completely stopped giving it to me. My blood pressure dropped a couple times too so they didn't want it too high. My doctor and nurse both thought he probably had his cord either around his neck or shoulder and that could be why his heart rate went down during contractions. So finally at about 6:15 I started pushing. Oh, and by that point they had turned off my epidural because that sucker was STRONG and I was dead from the waist down. If they hadn't turned it off I probably would have been pushing all night because I couldn't feel anything at all. So with the epi off I could feel all the pressure and I could tell enough to know when I was having a contraction and was able to push really well. He was out at 7:46! When his head came out (which was the worse part pain wise) he did have the cord wrapped once around his neck but they cut it right away and he was fine :thumbsup2

All in all, I know I got REALLY lucky and had a pretty easy delivery. I had a minor second degree tear and I am still pretty sore from that but it's not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The stitches should dissolve in a few days. I think God knew that after what a rough pregnancy I had that if I had had a horrible birth experience I probably would never have any more kids ever :rotfl:

Thanks again for all the well wishes! I'll try to check in again soon. Hope I didn't bore anyone!

No WAY did you bore us, we're parents-to-be and new parents, we LIVE for these stories. Congratulations again and I agree with your mom, you were lucky AND smart to get that epidural when you did!

CONGRATS!! Hope all goes well!!

Veronica - Thanks for sharing!! It was not boring at ALL! Thankfully your labor went well - and how funny your water broke the day of your induction! Sorry about the tear, but glad to hear it isn't too terrible. Congrats again, your boy is gorgeous!

I just saw this! How exciting! That's so odd that your doctor wouldn't even tell you about your own induction though. I'll be praying for you and I hope everything goes perfectly! Can't wait to see and hear all about your little girl!

Hey everyone!_I haven't been on in a few weeks because I have been sick and I see there have been some adorable additions.Congratulations to all the new mommies! I had another sono on friday and he is still a boy!I have been sick for over 3 weeks now-aparently I developed asthma during the pregnancy(doc says it happens in 30% of preg)I never knew it could.I started with asmatic broncitis that turned into walking pnumonia. They started me on antibiotics and steroids and gave me breathing treatment for it and I thought i was getting better but then on Thurs I couldn't catch my breath and felt like I couldn't breath and my hubby came home to take me back to doc and he gave me a new inhaler that I have to use 4 times a day.I also started having alot of pain and cramping on Tues so I went to my ob and he thought I had a uti and started me on more medicine. He sent me for a cervex length ultrasound and it was good.I felt better over the weekend but today feel like I am coughing and have heavy breathing more again.Hopefully it will get better-I was going to go back to school shopping for my dd but decided to wait but I really need to start.I also grew greatly overnight on Saturday night! I really need to get some maternity shirts.I seem to be having a much different pregnancy than with my dd-I had all baby related problems with her and with this one I am the sick one but he is doing well(which I am grateful for)Maybe if I have another we will both be healthy!!I think he is alittle anoyed though from all the constant coughing-it is squeezing him and he keeps moving all over!I hope to be better before my trip on the 26.

Congrats Veronica! Gorgeous! We are naming our little boy Jacob too (And calling him Jake). He will be here soon per the order of the people left on the thread. My, my how time flies!

Yellowfish- love the nursery

I am also wondering when BRU sends the 10% for everything on your registry that didnt get bought? Does anyone know? We need to go get quite a few things (ive had 3 showers now and still missing some stuff)... and that would be mighty handy!?

I didn't paint it myself - it came as a part of a shower gift. We love it and can't wait to make it more boyish (we are missing a bear) or girlish (a bunny) when the time comes.

I stopped at BRU today and bought something and left with a coupon booklet - had two 15% off one item coupons...

I got the CUTEST catalog in the mail today! www.onestepahead.com

Anyone have a trick on how to organize baby clothes in drawers? Are you folding by size of the label or size of the clothes?
