Hi. It did not look good today. The heartbeat was very slow and the doctor said there has not been much growth since my last ultrasound. I am being induced tomorrow morning at 5 a.m. So Jacob will be here hopefully by tomorrow evening

And thanks for letting me tell my news myself, though I wouldn't have minded if you shared.

Basically, I'm not dilating and my Dr. pretty much told me that he wanted to induce me either next Tues. or Thurs. whether I am or not. I mentioned that if my cervix wasn't ready, and induction wasn't going to do much good and he said "Well, we'll try it for a few hours and then we'll just go with the 'other option.'" ("other option" has always been his favorite expression for c-section) No one would like to have this baby more than me, but my official due date isn't until tomorrow anyway and I feel like he's in a bit of a hurry. I was very upset about this on Tues. because I feel like he's being a little pushy about the whole thing, but I have calmed down enough to hope that there will have been some progress by next Tues. or Thurs. and that the induction will work without a c-section. I see him Monday afternoon for confirmation of Tues. or Thurs. and until then I'm doing a lot of walking, pineapple eating, and anything else I think might get things going so that I'm actually ready to deliver. I know he is just being cautious, but I really wish he would give me a few more days to see if I can do this on my own. (Not that my body has ever cooperated before, but I was just hoping *maybe* this time would be different.

Anyway, that's what's going on here. Again, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow Veronica! Can't wait to hear all about your little man.

I think I'd tell him you want to hold off a bit if things are okay with the baby. I would not want a c-section just because an induction under unfavorable circumstances didn't work out either. Can you try the induction without breaking your water and see how things go? Then if they don't work out maybe you can try again in a few days. My friend had to do that as her induction was not at all progressing, but 3 days later and it went much better and she avoided the section. Good luck either way!

I am so so so sorry to hear of your loss. I'll be praying for you so that you can rejoin soon, and most of all so that you find the comfort you need to get through this.

Thanks. We will see if I've made any progress by Monday and then I will make sure he actually chats with me at the end of the appt. instead of firing all of that off while he is making his exit from the exam room like he did last Tues. If there is progress at all, I actually respond really well to induction and will have no problems going along with it.

I'll post my birth story and some pictures once I have a little more time but the basics are...he was born Friday July 31st, 2009 at 7:46 p.m. weighed EXACTLY 7 pounds and is 20 inches long. He's perfectly healthy in every way and we were both discharged from the hospital at around 3:30 this afternoon.

I'll post more soon but I am super tired right now and Jake's probably going to be hungry again soon so I gotta jet. Thanks for all your well wishes ladies! I'll be back as soon as I can
