Angela,

Don't worry about us! We'll be here waiting for you! Take care of things at home! Here's hoping everything will work out just fine for all of you! And just remember, at least the Red Wings are winning!!!!! :thumbsup2 :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay:

Thanks everyone for the support, bith the PMs and the posts. :)

Spencer has some mild stuff going on that, at this age, could just be that his IQ is super high, but is definitely stuff we need to follow.

He is not the typical spectrum kid....instead of being withdrawn, he is the opposite. he actually has something called disinhibition. He has no sense of personal space, of inappropriate questioning or behaviors, and tends to get TOO close and personal for most people's comfort. He is the opposite of shy and has no stranger anxiety. He has great language and loves to talk you ear off, as long as he's telling you what he wants you to hear.

he has other typical AS behaviors, though, including head and hand shaking, bad eye contact, a lack of understanding of social clues, subject fixation, and is delayed in some fine motor areas. Much of the AS stuff is milder, and would probably be explained away ina nother time as him just being a "quirky bright kid"......since BOTH of his parents (and a total of 3 uncles on both sides) were also described as "quirky bright kids", we understand a lot of what's going on with him....actually, I was "that weird D&D freak in the G&T classes" and HHBG was ""one of those super-smart geeky twins in computer club"....:rotfl:

I have background in Special Ed and with Autism spectrum kids, as I used to be a pre-school 1-on-1 aid while I was in college. I also have a B.Ed in Speech and master's work in Audiology, so I am really trying to be an advocate. We are contacting CSE for school based OT for fine motor and Speech for articulation, as he has stopped listening to me.

Thank you everyone again!! I'll be back soon, but I really appreciate all of the support. :grouphug:

Totally OT from the thread itself, but wanted to ask...
I have a dear friend that has a 21m old. as a spec. ed specialist I want to ask a few questions.
He is a week younger than my son, so she is noticing he is not as developed as my son.
He just started walking 2 months ago, He still walks as if he just learned. he only bables- does not speak even dada, You can tell he is clearly behind in social skills etc... But he loves being attached to mom. and he just startedto warm up to me after seeing him several tiems a week etc. he does not play with other children his age. just sits and stares.
She thinks he is fine and will eventually catch up. She had the pediatrician say he should see a developmental specialist and she just keeps putting it off, hoping he will catch up. I encouraged her to just see the specialist for peace of mind.
Do you have any sense of what he might hav. He is a weet smiley kid, but he cries constantly and his cry is not load, like a babys wimper, but all the time.

What should I say now - I feel like now I am pushing her and it is her child, not by buisness.

we ate at WCC and really like it, we did not get the meal you did, i have heard that it is not hte greatest...i got hte western chicken pasta and it was really good, DW got some kind barbecu and said it was okay, so i guess with that being said our dinner was okay...we did get a really big drink, we were on the back patio area, and it was quite and did not get to see all the fun stuff going on, but it was still a nice romantic dinner.

I found your PTR a few weeks ago and read that, then i found your TR. You and your husband are geeky and awesome. Those pant are more like Cargos of Holding +5!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:
:offtopic: Quick off topic question: Are you guy going to move to 4th edition D&D or say with 3.5?? :offtopic:
Aside from the melt downs and the awful timing with the migraine from hell:furious:, the trip looked really fun. I hope everything turns out ok with Spencer. I'm look forward to reading more about the trip.

 thanks Ed. I still feel stuck, but we're doing what we can right now. We're trying to keep the AS Dx off of his record at school, until they're sure he won't grow out of it. The other stuff, we are going to let the school system help with.

Byt he way, which hockey team do you root for. i always see your name and think "go Red Wings!" myself. :rolleyes1

:grouphug: Will you be in shoreham this weekend?

I was NOT in shoreham this weekend, as my parents sold the house in Shoreham and are now living in a 55+ community in East Moriches, BUT my other three siblings were apparently all over Shoreham with some friends from high school this weekend.

(For anyone who is confused...I grew up in Shoreham...it's a little town on long Island best known for the Nuclear power plant that used to be there...and people wonder why i am so weird....)

Angela, Can't give you any advice, but I can give you this  You guys are in my thoughts.

Thanks. I appreciate it.

Hi Dan!!

Thanks! We didn't change too much after we fixed the dinner thing, so it was a little crazy in the beginning, then calm. We're only on day 3, so you're good. :thumbsup2

A lot of people like WCC. We just got unlucky.

It's like Akershus....we had GREAT food there, and many people hate it. We just got lucky.

It happens. :)

all finished, wow a lot of things are going on for you right now.

He is writing a book about finance. Exciting stuff. :rolleyes1

Hee hee. +5...my cargoes got a magical upgrade...are they mastercrafted, too? :rotfl:

HHBG is more the D&D guy, and I am more a White Wolf person, but he says we are definitely upgrading, if for nothing else, but to see what it's like. We're currently playing a 3.5 campaign HHBG is DMing, and we are hoping some of the problems we've been having with that game will be resolved by the new rules.

More soon. :thumbsup2

I read this and had to go back, i thought why would he be writing a book about his fiance?

:worried:
i thought this is not nice, i dont think his wife(you) would be to happy about this.

theni read it again and :headache:

yep im a dingbat::yes::

Btw, just wanted to let you know I'm still out here and following along - just haven't had anything brilliant to add lately. And maybe just a tad bit wishing my own ds had the brilliance to go along with the behavior issues, sigh. Today and tomorrow he has spelling tests reviewing every single spelling word for the entire year - this morning was NOT FUN getting him to school. But, that should be the last hurdle for getting through the school year...
