Thread title because I am totally marathoning Phineas and Ferb on Netflix! I love the geeky sense of humor and all of the nerd references!

Okay, I've been putting this off, but I suppose it's that time. Time for me to start a planning journal. This will be good because it will force me to get off my butt and actually start planning things and making purchases! I'm so impressed with everyone who is super on top of things and have their weddings planned out years in advance... I'm a little over a year out and I've got nothing :rotfl2:

Alright, here's the plan.

Friday, August 2, 2013
Sea Breeze Point
Reception at The Attic
Dessert Party at UK Loch Side

We've been penciled in for these locations and are just waiting for the contract in a few weeks!

I'm Jess and my fiancee is Shayne. We're big time nerds, Harry Potter fans, academics, and of course, Disney freaks :thumbsup2 I love Mickey, Goofy and Stitch. Shayne loves Donald and all the villains. We collect Vinylmation and are looking for ways to incorporate our collection into the wedding.

I guess that's it for now. This was a big step for me and I expect all of you to hold me accountable for updating this PJ and actually working on planning this wedding!

those are my sites too! but i'm in May.

i cant wait to see what you decide to do!

Hi everyone! Thanks for joining in.

My major concern right now is that we are going to go over the guest limit for The Attic. We will probably end up inviting around 45 people but I'd really like to keep it to 35 so we don't have any issues with The Attic. We've already pared down the guest list so much, I think we're just going to have to invite everyone and hope a few people

My hope is to get out Save the Dates sometime in August. I know a year out is a bit early, but our families are planners and NOT Disney people (I KNOW, RIGHT?) so the earlier, the better, I think. I'm planning to do DIY photobooth Save the Dates. We love photobooths and can never pass one up, so it seems only natural.

This is just something I pulled off Google, but it's basically what I'm thinking of.

Congratulations. Look forward to reading more.

I think there is nothing wrong with giving people a years notice, I plan on giving them 2-3 depending when my partner proposes. That way they can save and do other things in USA and make a good holiday out of it. Those long flights make you want to stay awhile to make it worth it :)

I'm loving your PJ already!! :lovestruc yay for another 2013 bride! :cool1:

That's awesome that you want to incorporate Vinylmation into your wedding! I collect them also and have already started planning their way into my wedding ;) let me know if you'd like ideas! Also, I don't think a year out is too early to send save the dates. I think for a destination wedding, especially at Disney with the amount of planning that can require, a year is not only acceptable but possibly even encouraged. We're currently 15 months out and I plan to send my save the dates at the 1 year mark :)

(And by the way, I love your avatar, as you can see Stitch is one of my favorite characters too)

I would love any ideas you have! Right now I'm planning on using Vinyls for the cake toppers and maybe as part of the reception table centerpieces?

I looove Stitch. I think I want to incorporate the idea of 'ohana' into my vows somehow. :goodvibes

About us!

Me...
Jess, 25. I'm originally from Virginia, but we currently live in Boston. I'm a school librarian and I love my job!

Shayne is 26 and works in health care data management here in Boston.

We met in New York City at a bar through mutual friends. We were both living in NYC, getting our undergraduate degrees. Not exactly the most romantic story, but we started texting back and forth, became good friends and then, finally admitted our feelings to each other. :lovestruc We have been together for six years now, moved from NYC to Boston (we both moved to Boston to get our masters) and are trying to forge a life for ourselves here.

We got engaged last Thanksgiving at the Hogs Head Pub at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal! I know it's a bit sacrilegious.. but we are HUGE Harry Potter fans. I'm a Gryffindor and Shayne's a Slytherin, but we make it work. Anyway, we were sitting out at the picnic tables behind the pub, with Hogwarts behind us when we got engaged. It was very sweet and very us!

Pictures will come eventually!

We sent our save-the-dates about 2 weeks short of 1 year.

Welcome! Can't wait to follow along.

Vinyls for the cake toppers was definitely going to be my first suggestion! I'm not sure if you have invitations & save the dates already figured out, but there's a girl on here called Wendy who does Disney invitations and she has a Vinylmation save the date and invitation. I think Vinyls for centerpieces is a great idea!! You could buy them in your colors and decorate them or use some from your collection. I'm using a blank 9" Vinyl for my guestbook, you could do that too? You could maybe even get blank Vinyls and use them as escort cards and favors at the same time. Like this: http://magicaldayweddings.com/custom-disney-wedding-vinylmation-figures/

And incorporating o'hana into your vows would be amazing!! I definitely want to hear about that!

Guess what everyone!!

I just sent back our room block information! We aren't under contract yet, but we are getting pretty darn close :thumbsup2

Our room block resorts are Beach Club, Contemporary and Pop. We didn't choose a moderate because we figured all of our guests are going to fall into two camps: those trying to save money and those who are just coming down for the weekend and don't really care how much they spend (coughShayne'sfamilycough).

I'm so excited to be moving forward!

Plans sound great so far! Super cute and great ideas so far! if you are going to use the LARGE vinyls... i'd grab them before they are gone! they have been out for a long time and i always feel like disney could yank them from the sales floor at any time... but maybe i just like excuses to buy things too!!!!! Love the photostrip idea!

Congrats on starting a planning journal.

The start of your plans look great. Those were our original choices for venues. I love them all.

Where in Boston are you? We are right in Medford.

Love the title of the thread. I have recently become additcted to the show. Love Perry!!

Can't wait to read more.

Just because I'm curious, say you block off rooms at the contemporary and no one uses them, because everyone goes Beach Club or Pop... Is that possible? Or are you responsible to fill rooms in all three?

Just joining in! Stitch is also my favorite, and I'm getting married at SBP/Attic in September :)

You sound a lot like me! Nerd, huge Harry Potter fan, Disney freak... and I just finished up my degree/certification to become a school librarian!

I hope you share more about your wedding plans!
