"Mom, My Wish Came True!" Our best-trip-ever-week-before-Thanksgiving '09 TR!

MVMCP Day!!! Day 6, Thur, 11/19

Update time!!

So today was our last full day at Disney :sad1:. The only official plans for the day were that we had dinner at 1900 Park Fare at 4:45pm, then we were going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party that night! I wanted to make sure we had a relaxing day beforehand, so we could stay at the party as late as we wanted. I also booked it as the last day of the trip so we didn't have to worry about trying to get up early and do a park after a late-ish night, all we had to do was make it to the plane the next day!

I slept in, didn't wake up until about 9:45am. I don't think anyone had really done much of anything by that time, we were all just relaxing/hanging out in the room. Andy, Janie, and Uncle Billy decided they felt like going back to Animal Kingdom for awhile. In particular, I think Uncle Billy wanted to just see what Rafiki's Planet Watch is all about, and Janie was all for that because she really wants to meet Jiminy Cricket someday and we knew that he hangs out there sometimes. They of course offered Lily to come with them, but she wanted to stay at the resort with me and my mom. Janie never did see Jiminy, and no one was raving about what they saw over there, so it didn't sound like we really missed anything. I, for one, was ready to just relax for a little bit!!!!

We had an early lunch at the Sassagoula Floatworks (POFQ food court). No pics, but I tried their muffaletta sandwich. I LOVE those from trips visiting Uncle Bee in New Orleans, and POFQ's was good -- not at all like the ones at St. Anne's deli in the real FQ, but what do you expect? ;) I'm SURE Lily had another one of those turkey subs she loved from there. This wasn't available for a kid dining credit, but I guess we had extra credits (or paid OOP). Not telling the kid she can't have a turkey sub 'cause they don't have it as a kids meal (again, the kids meals at Disney :sad2:)!

After that, Lily and I got on our suits and went swimming for awhile. I LOVE to swim (even brave wearing a bathing suit in public for it!), and I'm a pretty fun for Lily in the pool, if I do say so myself. We have hand stand contests and I'm trying to teach her how to do somersaults. The POFQ pool is great! So we swam for a little bit, but then I felt like getting out and sitting in the sun for awhile. Of course she hounded me to get back in, but it felt sooo good to sit in the warm sun in November! If the dang slide hadn't been down the whole week we were there, that would have occupied her, but she still had a good time splashing around.

Now, mother of the year I am not, and I fell asleep right out at the pool! Luckily Lily's a good swimmer, the water doesn't go very deep, and there was a lifeguard. Still, probably not a good idea to fall asleep while your kid's in the pool. But that warm sun! And that previous 5 days of parks! Ahh, now I was relaxing!!!! I don't know what my mom was doing all this time, I guess she was back in the room.

Okay, so all we had to do this day was make sure we got to 1900 Park Fare by 4:45pm. And the AK gang was going to go straight there and meet us. We were set to get to the bus stop well ahead of time, but as we were leaving the room, Lily realized she couldn't find her backpack -- which contained her autograph book!! NO WAY was she going to a character meal without her book, so we looked around for it for awhile and could NOT find it. Grrrrrrrr! Time was ticking, so we ended up going to the POFQ gift shop (a very nice gift shop, BTW) and getting her another one. (We did find her backpack later, it ended up being with Andy's stuff for some unknown reason -- but she only had a couple pages left in her book anyway, so she needed another).

By the time we got to the bus stop, it was 3:35pm. I figured, okay, over an hour still to get there, we'll be fine. But for the very first time this trip, we waited for the bus. And waited (I'm sure they don't run them as often in the middle of the afternoon as they do in the morning/evening). And waited. Agggg, I was getting STRESSED! I don't even know what time it came, because I stopped looking at the time -- it was making me too nervous. I would guess at least 1/2 hour, though.

Our plan was to take the bus to the MK, then either the boat or the monorail to the Grand Floridian. So even though the boat sounded fun, I figured we'd probably get there quicker if we took the monorail. So that's what we decided on...

320.jpg

That worked out well for us, because it was our only monorail ride of the whole trip! Also, we made it on time!!! We got to the GF at 4:40pm. Whew!

357.jpg

I had just enough time to take a couple pics of the marble floors in the GF lobby...

323.jpg

324.jpg

325.jpg

I was distracted by the time, though, and didn't take nearly enough pictures of this gorgeous resort!!! We found the rest of our family, who was already there waiting for us, then we found the restaurant...

358.jpg

So, I guess I'll start with the food...

Very good, fresh salad!

332.jpg

Nasty kid food...

330.jpg

The pasta was pretty gross, but everything else was good!

331.jpg

342.jpg

Very nice desserts!

343.jpg

But of course, the main attraction was the characters!

327.jpg

328.jpg

Cinderella was sweet. I WAS hoping for a little bit hotter Prince Charming..

329.jpg

(but he was very nice. And that is such an awful thing for me to say!)

333.jpg

334.jpg

My mom, by this point of our trip, was ready to move to Orlando and become a CM. I told her she should totally go out for the part of Lady Tremaine. Uncle Billy felt like that probably wouldn't work because she'd have a hard time remaining so stern. HA! Trust someone who was raised by her -- she has it in her!

Again, Uncle Billy really enjoyed the Tremaines. They were a hoot!

335.jpg

341.jpg

Lily was in a partying mood, and joined in on the festivities...

337.jpg

336.jpg

And yet another birthday cupcake!!

339.jpg

This was a very enjoyable meal, and we would not hesitate to do it again!

MVMCP day, cont...

So after dinner, we decided we'd take the boat launch over to the Magic Kingdom. It was a nice warm evening, and it sounded good. But we did stop along the way to check out the resort just a little.

We got to see the gingerbread house. It was gorgeous, and it smelled like gingerbread throughout the lobby. SO FESTIVE!

359.jpg

And then we found these...

344.jpg

347.jpg

348.jpg

Here's my mom acting like these surroundings just aren't up to her standards. I'm sure she was thinking "Now THIS is where I really belong!" :rotfl:

356.jpg

Now is that a natural Lady Tremaine or what?

Quick costume change for Lily...

354.jpg

355.jpg

And finally, we made our way to the boat launch (walking past Narcoosee's, which I have GOT to try someday!)

Up next is MVMCP!!!

I was just looking more closely at your sig because I wanted to remember how old Ethan is. WOWWWEE is all I can say about how many trips you guys have taken since 2008! I am so JEALOUS!! Here I am, going on about my 3rd measly trip! So now that Ethan is 4, yes, it is HIGH time you at least stake out Spectro!!! You would be welcome to come over to POFQ to meet us, but I think Lily and I should head over to YOUR place! Do you have any trip reports? If not, I think you should make one!

We have been on a lot of trips but sadly the husband is putting an end to that. Can you believe he wants to see other places besides Disney!!! I do have a trick up my sleeve for that, he doesnt know about adventure's by disney or the new resort opening up in Hawaii. ;) Sadly I have not done any trip report, I guess Im not much of a writer. But I do enjoy reading other peoples. You are more than welcome to come over to see us, the more the merrier. We could hang out by the pool together and try not to fall asleep in the sun (just kiding). I have been thinking about trying 1900Park Fare on our next trip but I am not sure if we should go there for dinner or breakfast. Any suggestions? Oh by the way I love Lilly's top in the last update...soo cute. I often find myself looking at all the cute girly clothes that are out there and thinking if only I had a little girl to dress up. When it comes to shopping for boys there is not a lot out there. They really should make more variety for boys. Looking forward to the next update!

In that pic, I was thinking -where's the prince that comes with this buggy?
Also, you forgot about Lily's makeup session. She wanted to look like Cinderella and I made her look like Drusilla.... hahaha... another look of daggers... and then she scrubbed it off.. but if you look... you can still see a little blush, eye shadow and lipstick.... hahaha... payback... priceless

We're going to stay at POFQ again. Loved it there and not quite ready to make the jump to deluxe yet!!

Not quite ready b/c you're not allowed to! ;)

That's too bad you guys missed out on the slide at the POFQ pool! It was one of my favorite things at the resort! (Says the 25 year old. :rolleyes1 )

I love the photo of Lily looking up at Cinderella as she signs the autograph book! Lily looks so....in awe!

Eh, I don't think you're missing out on much at Narcoossee's. Now Citricos, that's where it's at for dining at the GF!

Hahahahahaha! to the first line!! :rotfl:

Hopefully that dang slide will be back in action this Nov! My big girl does still love her characters!!! And I'll consider the Citricos thing, but I just gotta have that surf n turf someday (even if the lobster IS frozen!). ;)

Thanks for chiming in! :thumbsup2

Sorry for the cliffhanger! I don't have to work this weekend, so I'll try to get this thing done already!

I was super happy to hear about your trip later this year!!! That has just GOT to keep everyone going when things get tough! No one deserves it more than you guys -- and I can't WAIT to read your trip report! We'll have them going at the same time and can comment on each other's!:hug:

BTW, I'm looking at your ticker. Did I already know you are going "our" week this year????

No way! We're had originally book October, but changed it to November 11 - 15. Does that overlap you? I'd love to meet if it does!

Hollywood Studios -- Day 3, continued. Mon, 11/16

After the quickie on ToT, we were on a mission to see the Osborne Lights. I was so excited when I found out before our trip (from the DIS, of course) that they were starting before Thanksgiving this year and that we'd get a chance to see them!!!

It was around 7:45pm, and the park closed at 8pm, and since Mom loves Disney 3D, I thought we MIGHT be able to see the Muppets if we headed over there. We took the back way, past Pixar Place and the backlot, so we got to the Osborne lights before the Muppets. Obviously in the midst of the lights, the Muppets went on the back burner!

I love this picture of Andy, looking around in wonder...:)

100_3132.jpg

The Osborne Lights was really a pretty amazing experience. First let me say that even though the previous 2 nights had been chilly and we were prepared this night with our jackets, we did not need them. It was a very warm evening, and by the time we got over to the lights, I had broken a sweat. So a hot Florida evening is not really what I think of as "Christmassy". But as soon as we turned the corner onto the Streets of America and saw the lights, I SWEAR the temp dropped 15 degrees (I am actually still secretly wondering if they pipe in cool air!). And of course it was snowing! It took about 30 seconds flat for me to go from hot Florida theme park to magical snowy Christmas world!!!

Some of us heard an announcement that the lights would start dancing in just a few minutes, so we decided to not worry about the Muppets so we could watch the lights dance. We sat on a curb for a little while and just soaked it in. Very enjoyable. :cloud9:

I guess Mom wasn't in on the "waiting to watch the lights dance" conversation, because she came over and said, "I thought we were going to try to see the Muppets?" I broke it to her that she probably wasn't going to see them this trip (it was well after closing by now), but that we'd walk over that way.

Indeed the Muppets was closed when we got over there, but I did get a couple cute pics of Lily by the fountain!

100_3135.jpg

100_3136.jpg

Then on the way back out of the park, I took a this, Lily on the Ewok's riding machine..

100_3137.jpg

..and a couple pics of the hat on the way out.

100_3139.jpg

100_3140.jpg

I think I tried a couple of pics of the Christmas tree out front, but they didn't turn out, and since I'm a slow walker, I was already way behind on the trek to the bus stop.
!

I say that cause I found many of my coworkers in your pictures of DHS. :rotfl2:

Also I remember Lily! Its sad to say this but I actually remember ya'll commenting to me about your wait times as ya'll were exiting the Osbourne Lights.... :thumbsup2:cool1:
