MVMCP Day!!! Day 6, Thur, 11/19
Update time!!
So today was our last full day at Disney
. The only official plans for the day were that we had dinner at 1900 Park Fare at 4:45pm, then we were going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party that night! I wanted to make sure we had a relaxing day beforehand, so we could stay at the party as late as we wanted. I also booked it as the last day of the trip so we didn't have to worry about trying to get up early and do a park after a late-ish night, all we had to do was make it to the plane the next day!
I slept in, didn't wake up until about 9:45am. I don't think anyone had really done much of anything by that time, we were all just relaxing/hanging out in the room. Andy, Janie, and Uncle Billy decided they felt like going back to Animal Kingdom for awhile. In particular, I think Uncle Billy wanted to just see what Rafiki's Planet Watch is all about, and Janie was all for that because she really wants to meet Jiminy Cricket someday and we knew that he hangs out there sometimes. They of course offered Lily to come with them, but she wanted to stay at the resort with me and my mom. Janie never did see Jiminy, and no one was raving about what they saw over there, so it didn't sound like we really missed anything. I, for one, was ready to just relax for a little bit!!!!
We had an early lunch at the Sassagoula Floatworks (POFQ food court). No pics, but I tried their muffaletta sandwich. I LOVE those from trips visiting Uncle Bee in New Orleans, and POFQ's was good -- not at all like the ones at St. Anne's deli in the real FQ, but what do you expect?
I'm SURE Lily had another one of those turkey subs she loved from there. This wasn't available for a kid dining credit, but I guess we had extra credits (or paid OOP). Not telling the kid she can't have a turkey sub 'cause they don't have it as a kids meal (again, the kids meals at Disney
)!
After that, Lily and I got on our suits and went swimming for awhile. I LOVE to swim (even brave wearing a bathing suit in public for it!), and I'm a pretty fun for Lily in the pool, if I do say so myself. We have hand stand contests and I'm trying to teach her how to do somersaults. The POFQ pool is great! So we swam for a little bit, but then I felt like getting out and sitting in the sun for awhile. Of course she hounded me to get back in, but it felt sooo good to sit in the warm sun in November! If the dang slide hadn't been down the whole week we were there, that would have occupied her, but she still had a good time splashing around.
Now, mother of the year I am not, and I fell asleep right out at the pool! Luckily Lily's a good swimmer, the water doesn't go very deep, and there was a lifeguard. Still, probably not a good idea to fall asleep while your kid's in the pool. But that warm sun! And that previous 5 days of parks! Ahh, now I was relaxing!!!! I don't know what my mom was doing all this time, I guess she was back in the room.
Okay, so all we had to do this day was make sure we got to 1900 Park Fare by 4:45pm. And the AK gang was going to go straight there and meet us. We were set to get to the bus stop well ahead of time, but as we were leaving the room, Lily realized she couldn't find her backpack -- which contained her autograph book!! NO WAY was she going to a character meal without her book, so we looked around for it for awhile and could NOT find it. Grrrrrrrr! Time was ticking, so we ended up going to the POFQ gift shop (a very nice gift shop, BTW) and getting her another one. (We did find her backpack later, it ended up being with Andy's stuff for some unknown reason -- but she only had a couple pages left in her book anyway, so she needed another).
By the time we got to the bus stop, it was 3:35pm. I figured, okay, over an hour still to get there, we'll be fine. But for the very first time this trip, we waited for the bus. And waited (I'm sure they don't run them as often in the middle of the afternoon as they do in the morning/evening). And waited. Agggg, I was getting STRESSED! I don't even know what time it came, because I stopped looking at the time -- it was making me too nervous. I would guess at least 1/2 hour, though.
Our plan was to take the bus to the MK, then either the boat or the monorail to the Grand Floridian. So even though the boat sounded fun, I figured we'd probably get there quicker if we took the monorail. So that's what we decided on...
That worked out well for us, because it was our only monorail ride of the whole trip! Also, we made it on time!!! We got to the GF at 4:40pm. Whew!
I had just enough time to take a couple pics of the marble floors in the GF lobby...
I was distracted by the time, though, and didn't take nearly enough pictures of this gorgeous resort!!! We found the rest of our family, who was already there waiting for us, then we found the restaurant...
So, I guess I'll start with the food...
Very good, fresh salad!
Nasty kid food...
The pasta was pretty gross, but everything else was good!
Very nice desserts!
But of course, the main attraction was the characters!
Cinderella was sweet. I WAS hoping for a little bit hotter Prince Charming..
(but he was very nice. And that is such an awful thing for me to say!)
My mom, by this point of our trip, was ready to move to Orlando and become a CM. I told her she should totally go out for the part of Lady Tremaine. Uncle Billy felt like that probably wouldn't work because she'd have a hard time remaining so stern. HA! Trust someone who was raised by her -- she has it in her!
Again, Uncle Billy really enjoyed the Tremaines. They were a hoot!
Lily was in a partying mood, and joined in on the festivities...
And yet another birthday cupcake!!
This was a very enjoyable meal, and we would not hesitate to do it again!
