Mom & Gmax September 2006 w/Pics!

Thanks for a great trip report and pictures. On my last WDW vacation, I had a green mickey hanging from my pocketbook. I was surprised that no one said anything about it. I thought I would see at least one DISer while we were there.

As I've been saying, its been slow going uploading the pics, so I'm going to be adding pics to what I've already posted. (I just "fixed" my last post, even though one pic won't "resize" :furious:) So check back for the changes! Thanks again for reading![/B]
WOW! This means I'll have to read the whole thang again :woohoo:

So I take it you don't have love bugs in Texas, Utah or Maryland. Last year after the hurricane, they were very bad here. We have them every year, but last year was the worse, or maybe it was because we were outside working more after the hurricane, therefore we noticed them more. I hate them - terrible for white cars.

You mean we have to go backwards in the TR!

Hey, any pics of the food that was for tea?

Let's see . . .

This is the world's best apple cider. The tea came with champagne, but because it was so hot, and we were going to MGM afterwards, I didn't want to drink any alcohol. I'm not a fan of apple cider, but this WAS GREAT!

Here's the sandwiches we had. Sorry that I can't name them for you! I can tell you that the 2nd to last one is egg salad - which I'm not a fan of - but this one was GREAT!
IMG_0757.jpg
Here's what I had for dessert. It felt wrong to eat the swan since it was so pretty!

That was YOU?! So I'm not crazy - wait - did you just do it again - yes! I just heard you again!!

Glad you were able to meet so many and not get murdered :rotfl:
Yes, I'm glad about this too. But you know what? It's always the quiet ones who turn out to be the REAL murderers. So I think if given the chance, MickeyGirl or CherokeeMama would be the ones. UtahMama and Eeyore'sTiara are too obvious. :tiptoe:

Glenda, I have really, really, ever so much enjoyed your trip report!!! Thank you for writing and posting pictures. In this crazy day and age, reading your TR reminds me that there are so many nice people out there in the world to meet, and it warmed my heart to see and read about your trip with mom and the tiara tea party with new friends!
Princess Glenda, next heroine of the newest Disney animated blockbuster......!!! We need you!
Thank you! Loved your reason for editing!

I am glad that we all took the chance to meet up. It was the highlight of our trip. :goodvibes I now have really good friends in different parts of the country that I would not have otherwise met! :thumbsup2
I feel exactly the same way! :goodvibes

Gmax, I just went back and looked at all the updated pics. You are tall! I had to really look up to Goofy! I always wished for long legs! ;)

Thank you for this wonderful TR! I am now hooked on DIS and all you wonderful people!

I can't wait until my own trip, but now I have a NEW obsession...DISBoards!!!! I don't think my friends would understand why I have a stack of green Disney chips from Home Depot! Maybe by Nov 2007 I can get them hooked too! :thumbsup2

Day 5 Continued

As we are slowly walking back into Pirates (mind you I'm still in shock), I hear someone yell "GMAX!" I turn around and see a cute young woman with a child. She wavs, I say "Hello, who are you!" "Oceana" We hug, make introductions and I take her picture!
IMG_0918.jpg

We end up riding Pirates together, and Oceana makes jokes about a certain effect - I won't ruin it for anyone! We said our goodbyes and go our separate ways :wave2:
[/I]

Oh golly I dont even recall what I said... It may have been because it was my 2nd trip but my husbands 1st and I didnt want to give anything away ;) I also had a sleeping baby so needed to at least pretend to protect him from whatever tease the pirates had in mind.

Great TR glad I made a cameo

That last day when you saw us at MGM... was my grumpy day. We had stayed past naptime it was hot as all get out and we needed to get back to our room and rest! Sorry we missed you.

This is why I love Goofy! He is the one of the few characters that is taller than I am!

You were "concerned" about getting wet by something at the beginning of the ride . . . does that help?

I have LOVED your TR! :thumbsup2
Thank you!

If you can do Ex. Everest you can maybe think about attempting "The Tower of Happiness" for your next trip.

YAY! Another OCR fan! Hopefully after I get a china cabinet, I'll start my collection too!
I don't have a china closet...they are still in their boxes. They are in a tub. (AND..TJ Maxx and Marshalls has the odd piece for crazy cheap and it is the real pattern)

Day 6 - The Last Sit-Down Meal

After getting over "The Envelope of Doom", we relaxed, showered and changed for our final sit-down meal at Ohana. This was our second meal at the Poly.

I was surprised at how romantic-looking the restaurant was at night compared to the morning when we had breakfast, and it was quite busy. We were seated near the open kitchen, and had a partial view of Cinderella's Castle.
IMG_1038.jpg

We were seated next to a couple and their kids.
IMG_1041.jpg

After we were settled in, the young woman from the next table came over to me and asked if I was Glendamax. She said that she was Lisa DKG (the author of the thread, "When you see DISers in the Parks")! I was SO EXCITED! While we were posing for pictures, she said, "People are going to think you are someone famous"!

IMG_1036.jpg

Lisa and her husband had just arrived for 10 days! She said that she told her husband that she hoped that she would see me. Now let's pause . . .
That was HUGE for me! Here I am about to go back to my real (sometimes depressing) life, and the last person I see says that they were hoping to see me while at Disney World! After taking pictures, and meeting her family, I sat down and told my Mother that I have to get myself together! That when I'm feeling sad, or down, I will make myself remember this moment with Lisa DKG!
Thanks Lisa! You have no idea how much that meant, and will always mean to me.

After meeting Lisa, the food started comming. To us, the best food came out first, then it went downhill a bit. Here's our favorites:
Shrimp, Potatoes, Veggies

IMG_1044.jpg

Since it was our last night, and I knew we were not about to go into the hot sun, I ordered a drink called "Tradewinds" it was VERY good!

IMG_1043-1.jpg
The salad was very good also. Unfortunantly, I did not get a picture of the bar-b-cue chicken. It was the best I've ever had in my ENTIRE life! No, I am not exaggerating. OH! If you peak at Lisa's dish, you can see some of the chicken on it . . .ahhhhh . . . .

During the meal, a Lady who reminded me of Charro, led the kids in a parade around the restaurant. Lisa DKG and her kids participated. I took a photo, but it was blurry.

The dessert was good. I think it was a banana pudding with ice cream. Sorry, no photo, I ATE it like ANIMAL from The Muppets! :lmao:

While eating dessert, we watched Wishes. It was a really nice way to end the trip. I was sorry that Lisa and her family had already left though.

Before we left, the "Charro" character gave my Mother and I a Lei. I secretly wanted one, and was DELIGHTED to when she came over!

We went back to the room and started to pack. :sad2: But I had to take some pictures with our Leis on!

IMG_1053.jpg

Little did I know, that night would be the last good night's sleep I would get for about a week . . .

Day 6 Lessons Learned

1. Since I do not ride Tower of Terror or Rockin Rollar Coaster, there is no reason to get to MGM as soon as it opens. Glad we slept in!

2. Unless there is an announcement that the Backlot Tour has changed, don't do it.

3. The Great Movie Ride is a bit lame. But do take the time to look at the cement in the front of the theater, and the props.

4. Get a Mickey Bar!

5. When you see a DISer, chase them down. So sorry I missed Oceana at MGM!

6. If you are delighted when you see someone, tell them. You'll never know just how much it means to them. ;)

Next, our departure day . . .

Oh Gmax, I just went back to really take in your pics of the tea party and I really must do this one day! I know my mom would love it, and your TR gave me an idea: I think I need to take my mom to The World WITHOUT my DS for a weekend so she can really experience what The Mouse has to offer to adults.
I really am so disappointed that I didn't get to see you again. But I live practically around the corner, so next time you're headed to WDW, we must arrange a legitimate meet!

EDIT: After I posted this, I saw your last post. I'm sooooo happy you saw, and got a pic with, Lisa! Not only did you get Focked, but you got Leied, too? YOU GO GIRL!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

You and your Mom should do it!

I will let you know when I go back to WDW!

And yes, I got Focked AND Leid! What more can you ask for on a vacation ;)

I love that you keep meeting/seeing DIS'ers. It really makes it special, doesn't it? :goodvibes

I am wondering why you slept so badly following your trip :confused3

Focked and Lei'd! (ooops I just spelled the f word! proofreading and editing are good things!)

Ok, I dis-like that picture of me. Really looks evil. I've never seen myself with that sort of expression on my face? Was I saying something like, "let's go back to my hotel room so I can murder you?" I dont recall having murderous thoughts that day! That tea party makes me all :goodvibes to think about! I love that people are calling us the Tiara's! OH! one of the finger sandwiches was cuccumber and watercress- very light and tasty! Even the duck pate was flaverful. The little tart was an Onion tart but it was sweet and buttery, and unexpected. The Smiling Mean Lady brought out a little witchy wooden box filled with glass jars filled with teas. All sorts of teas. I chose a Chamomille with a whisper of peppermint for my cold I was fighting!

We do need to have that be "our" special place to play "Tea Party". Our group size was intimate and fun but there's room for some more! :grouphug:

I dont think I'll be going in Sept. again because I'd really like to see it in the fall or winter. But I can be bribed with the thought of free dining again.

Lisa, why is there a backscratcher in your cool looking drink?

The food you had at Ohana's looks so good!
Charro sounds funny!

I'm sad to re-live your very last day with you beause I know how bittersweet this is! ((sigh))...
