Just wanted to give a quick update. I will finish this TR soon with our last day at AK. We've been so busy, and exhausted since returning from Peru last week. I will also add a mini TR of our Peru trip with pictures.

Everything has been crazy with that, getting ready for back to school, work, etc. We just got back from Charleston and metting up with a Diser! That was a great trip that I also soon include in my TR. More to come soon!

Yeah, this has been one slow moving TR!! Peru was unbelievably great! I plan to add a "mini TR" of our trip to Peru, and our trip to Charleston (and meeting up with a Dis'er) on here when I get this section wrapped up.

I do the exact same thing when we go on trips. I check the car and oil and stuff but to just my luck, something always happens. I hoping for good results this trip!! I love your TR!! and the pictures are great!! What kind of camera do you have cause those pictures are sharp and colorful:thumbsup2

I have a Canon PowerShot A570 IS. It's more of a point & shoot camera, nothing fancy. The only thing I don't really like about it is that it doesn't really take good night time shots. But it's been a good camera that I've had for about 2 years.

More Animal Kingdom Photos!!

So we make our way to Dinoland.

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/kristi4543.jpg

And we see:

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/kristi4544.jpg

Now my DD is begging me ride this thing. And I've heard how scary this thing is, so I had to calm my nerves and make the decision to go for it. With doubts all the way to the front of the line, even with a very short wait time, I really didn't have time to turn back now. So we come to the front of the line, I asked the CM how "bad" is this ride? She said it's about 2 notches up from the Safari ride.

I was OK till when the car stopped (where they take your picture), and it was SOOOO loud! There was this little girl beside me with her dad, and I felt so bad for her, she was so scared. So here's our crazy picture (notice how the girl is sitting...She was like this the WHOLE way through!)

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/kristi4572.jpg

So after I had my heart attack from Dinosour ride, we came across these guys:

Now we head on over to:

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/kristi4536.jpg

Since I'm a partial scaredy cat, I was kinda relunctant to ride this. I had to watch at the drop area first, but it probably just made me more nervous. Since there was practically no wait time (maybe 5 minutes), we get in line.

Turns out, I really loved it!! So much, that we rode it 3 times in a row, with practically no wait time.

After our 3rd time around on EE, it was about time to go. I think I remember the park closing at 8pm that day. We had planned on going to the park with the earliest closing time that day, since we'd be leaving the next day.

We had a great time on this trip, experiencing Sea World, along with Disney this time. (And there was no problems with the drive home.) We love our mom/daughter trips.

As this Disney portion of my TR comes to a close, I will be adding a few mini TR's of more mom/daughter adventures. Hope you all continue to share my experiences with me. I will be getting ready to do a mini TR of our Peru Missions trip next. This was a very much anticipated trip in the planning for almost a year. Hope you'll stick around to hear about it!

Yeaaa for the updates!:woohoo: I'm so glad that you rode Everest and liked it!:thumbsup2 It's one of my favorites too. And good for your for braving Dinosaur. I think the loudness is what makes it so dang scary.:scared1: Would you ride it again now that you know?

I can't wait to read the Mini-TR's!

Background info for trip:

After returning from our Spring Break trip, we knew it was time to put our focus back on our upcoming Peru trip. Time for vaccines, passports, and more fund raising.

This is a trip that has been planned for almost a year with a group of teens from our church. The teenagers, and most of the parents planned to go, along with a few men for the construction work.

The church has a missionary based in Peru and Mexico, so for this year, we were going to Peru with the purpose of helping to build a children's home/orphanage for a village in the middle of the Amazon Jungle.

While the men would do the majority of the building, the women and teens would be helping the women and children of the village.

It was a long and sometimes exhausting experience, even before we would leave, with the fund raising, getting all our vaccinations, and a few hassles with getting our passports.

1. Fund raising: We would need to raise $785 each. That pays for hotel, travel, and meals. We did many things to raise money, Golf tournaments, BBQ plates, Sam's Club fundraising tables, car washes, etc.

2. Vaccines: This is something that is not included in the fund raising, so we just had to pay out of pocket for this. With all of them added together, it was about $250 each, (including the booster shots we'd have to get upon returning).

3. Passports: This wasn't too bad, even with a couple hassles. The first time we went for our appt., we had the "hospital" birth certificate, not the "state" one. So I had to go to apply to get our state BC, and pay $12 each for that. It arrived in about a week. So for our 2nd appt., they said our photos (taken by Walgreens) was not properly sized. So I went to Walgreens and they re-took our photos for no additional fees. So we had to make a 3rd appt., and this time it was all set!!! I really was glad to get our passports anyway for future travel, and also before the price goes up this year.

On the dates of our trip, we realized that we would be gone during DD's birthday and Father's Day. So a couple days before we left, we had a small get together dinner for her birthday, and Father's Day for my dad.

Coming up: More trip info and lots of pics!!

Glad to see you back! Sorry to hear that you had so much trouble getting your Passports. I LOVE DD's cake, too!!
I can't wait to read more about Peru!

Peru Flight pictures & info:

The flight route would be:
ATL to Houston (2 hrs)
Houston to Lima (6 hrs),
Lima to Iquitos (2 hrs)

2 hour bus ride from Iquitos to Nauta

12 hour travel time!

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/6.jpg

Here we are at the layover in Lima. It was about 6 hr layover, and instead of getting a hotel for just a few hours, we had to hang out/sleep in the airport. But there was no sleeping for me there! I couldn't sleep there or on the plane at all! So I was barely hanging on with no sleep for so long!!!

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/7.jpg

But when we finally arrived at our hotel, I seen that I would have rather been staying in that airport vs. hotel, after all!!

More to come!

Wow, that is a LOT of travel time! I love the pics of the Amazon, very neat!

I'm scared to ask about the hotel--sounds like it wasn't too lovely if sleeping in the airport was better!

Can't wait for more!

Forgot to add the 2 hr drive to ATL!!!

Yeah, I have pictures of the room!

Ty and I had a mom/mom trip before Skye was born, he was about 3 or 4. It was sooo fun! It's what made me realize that the kids and I would leave the Dad at home and have great fun...and we did just that for our last three trips...next time it will be Daddy's Homecoming of sorts.

Reading on to hear about Peru!

So after our final plane ride, our missionary picks us up at the airport, and we load up in our bus (I'll have to add pictures of the bus, our mode of transportation for the week, that everyone made fun of!:rotfl:.)

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU077.jpg

This is our missionary from our church. He is based in Peru and also Mexico. Everyone aggravates him and tells him he doesn't look the part of a typical missionary man! But he is so sweet and a very hard worker.

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU290.jpg

This is where we were leaving from the airport lot.

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU080.jpg

The next few pictures are from the ride from Iquitos to Nauta.

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU089.jpg

(This is main mode of the transportation in the villages.)

So we stopped along the way at a little grocery store to get some bottled water and snacks. You'll have to excuse how rough I look in some of these pictures, and in this one, after almost 24 hours of no sleep and traveling! :crazy2:

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU102.jpg

Look at what my DD found while browsing the store!!!!!

http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/nn102/***********/PERU103.jpg

I didn't buy one, cause all I was thinking at the time is WATER and SLEEP!

More on the hotel coming up
