Mom and Dad and 2 Picky Kids do the DDP ~ With Lots of Pictures!

I enjoyed your CBR review, so I'm in on this one! I booked CP and Tusker for our only two character meals, so I'm pretty pumped that they seem to get the best reviews. I forgot that Mickey is at Tusker! Score!

Welcome! :goodvibes So glad you enjoyed the CBR review! Hope you will find this one helpful too.

Next time i'm in AK i'm doing the TH breakfast.... Thanks shelly.... but I must agree... nothing has been able to beat Crystal Palace for me.... Last May we went there 2 times.....

Your DD will have a blast at Tusker House!:thumbsup2

Yep, this was our first trip without going to CP and we really missed it. :guilty:

Hi Mama Snowbird---Just trying to get caught up on everyone's trips! Loving the food report, what a GREAT idea! Getting lots of ideas for our next trip (maybe a 2010 Snowbird???) We did alot of the same meals. Toy Story is forever OFF our list from now on. We did it three trips in a row, and this last trip, we waited FOREVER! And with the food just ok, why waste that much time! TUsker House is always a must do for us, although we haven't tried any other breakfasts. Would love to do a Round Table, but with boys, we'll see (although I"m sure hubby wouldn't argue about dining with the main princess herself)!!

Keep the report coming!!!

Thanks for the review on tucker house Shelly. We were goign to eat here before I canceled the DDP. I would liek to try dinner though. I ahve to agree with CP, they do serve a great breakfast.

Cooke's of Dublin

So after having such a big breakfast at Tusker House at 10:00 we really weren't hungry at lunchtime. We made our way to DTD that afternoon and ate around 3:00. We usually go to Wolfgang Puck Express for CS in DTD, but thought we'd try something new this time. I don't know anyone who has been to Cooke's but I had studied the menu and looked at some pictures and it looked good. They have a lot of outdoor seating and a few tables inside. I had a terrible headache and didn't want to sit out in the sun so we decided to eat inside. We were the only people inside for most of our meal. There was no wait to order. I figured DH would get the fish, but he got the "Dublin Style Pie & Chips - Chicken and Field Mushroom - chicken breast, mushroom and leeks in a rich wine cream sauce $10.95". I got the "Battered Chicken and Chips $7.95" and the kids both got the "Kids Battered Chicken Tender and Chips $5.95". Their meal was exactly the same as mine except they only got one chicken tender and I got two. The chicken looked so good and I was sure I was going to love it. I took a few bights and thought it was odd that it just didn't have much taste at all. Pretty soon I hear the kids saying - I don't like this chicken! I asked DH how his food was and he said it was okay. And he usually likes anything, so it must not have been that good for him to say it was just "okay". I asked him to taste my chicken (thinking that it was just me and maybe my headache effecting my opinion) and he said I was right it was very plain and tasteless. :confused3 Very strange, because like I said the chicken looked great and it was very big. But it sure was tasteless. I tried to eat as much as I could, I don't like to waste food. I made the kids each eat about half of their one chicken tender. The fries were okay, but still pretty bland too. For dessert the kids got huge ice cream cones. They were thrilled! The ice cream looked great but DH and I decided to go for the famous ""Doh-Bars" Fried Candy Bars $3.50". Which was basically a breaded and deep fried snickers bar. DH seemed to like it and ate most of his. I had a few bights of mine and that was about all I could handle. By that time my headache had not gone away and I was starting to feel nauseated. DH knew I had a headache but I never told him about my stomach. I just told him that we would have to come back to DTD another day because my head hurt and I needed to go back to CBR and lay down. I didn't even want to talk about the possibility that I might have caught the dreaded stomach virus that was going around down there. So we get back to CBR and I lay down and pretty soon DH tells me that his stomach doesn't feel so well. :sad2: So I told him I had felt the same way but thought it was starting to get better. Neither of us ended up getting sick, thank goodness, but it was just odd that we both felt sick to our stomachs after eating at Cooke's. . . Could have been that greasy candy bar, but like I said I didn't really eat much of mine. . . :confused3

Sorry to be so negative with this one, we just were pretty disappointed in the food.

Thanks for the Cookes review...we tried the Doh Bar in June and neither of us liked it...was thinking of going back to try the regular food but after your review I think we will just go back to WPE...never had a bad meal there!

Hi Shelly! Thanks for your review on Cookes of Dublin. I have never eaten there, and we were thinking about it on this trip, but from your review, I don't think that we will eat there.
We leave tomorrow and will be at DD on Saturday.

Wow! Those are huge ice cream cones.

Sorry lunch pretty much stunk there. :sad2:

Yeah, I'm not sure if they got a regular size cone or a kids cone. I don't really know how they could have been any bigger. Maybe the regular cone and the kids cone are the same thing. . . but they were listed at different prices. :confused3 Well either way they were huge and the kids were happy about that!

I don't mean to sway anyone from eating there. :guilty: What one person doesn't like another might. . . But I will say that was the most bland food I have ever had!

I can't believe you are leaving tomorrow Lauren ~ Have a great trip! :cool1:

Welcome! Yep, there are a LOT of donuts at Tusker House! :thumbsup2

Not anymore - I think we ate them all!! We enjoyed Tusker house too - DH loved the meat!!

It's fun reading your report Shelly - We did a lot of the same restaurants and I feel like I was following you a week later!!
MM was wonderful food - but it did seem like we sat there a while too. Of course, it was raining, so we didn't mind! I would go again, but I would like to try Tutto Italia at Epcot, so that may be our next Italian dinner. May have to go to Sci Fi at DHS.

Oh, don't feel guilty for swaying me! I like to listen to other people's reviews. I think we would rather eat at WPE anyways...we love it there!

I will be thinking of you when I am in Disney!

Well that royally stinks about Cooke's.:guilty:

We walked past that place when we were there in Oct and looked at the menu.
Thought it looked pretty good-- but went to Wolfgang Puck's instead. ( I forgot to tell the :snooty: that DH met Wolfgang on Thursday of last week while he was Out of town:rolleyes: ---- he's always meeting SOMEONE- )

The chicken fingers looked like a Beer battered Tempura style--- that i don't care for either. We have a restaurant back in SC that serves them like that and I don't like them at all. Very bland... and all around gross.

But the ice cream looked yummy....:woohoo:

Anyway--- sorry you felt yuck after eating. How long did your Headache last? Was it after you rode Everest???? I always get a HA from riding that ride and RnRc... the G forces.......:sad2:

Thanks for the review!

Yeah I'm not sure what kind of batter they use, but it sure was plain and tasteless, weird.

Actually I did ride EE that morning - twice! But things like that never give me a headache. I think I get them when I don't eat normal. I had an awful migraine on our arrival day when I skipped breakfast & lunch. Then that day when we had a very late (and yucky) lunch. It was bad and lasted into the evening. We pretty much just hung out in the room that whole night.

Caribbean Beach Resort ~ Old Port Royale Food Court

Today was going to be a "free day"! A take it easy and enjoy the resort day. And that's just what we did! :thumbsup2 We had a very light breakfast in the room and were ready for lunch early. So we headed out and took our time enjoying all the scenery crossing the bridge and island getting to the food court.

The CBR OPR food court is very large and has lots of choices. There is indoor as well as outdoor seating. There are 5 different stations to choose from: Deli, Bridgetown Broiler, OPR Hamburger Shop, Pizza & Pasta Shop, and Grab N Go Market. Each of them have several choices on the menu. All the stations were open and our food was cooked to order. Everything was fresh and hot! Here is a link to the CBR OPR food court lunch/dinner menu. And I can tell you that there are several more items offered that aren't listed here ~ http://www.allears.net/menu/menu_opr.htm . The Grab N Go station is great and has so many offerings, these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head ~ Uncrustables, Fruits, Cheeses, Salads, Apples and Caramel, Veggie Sticks, Yogurt Parfait, Carrot Cake, Yogurt, Cheesecake, Chocolate Cake, Pudding, Jello, Brownies, Muffins, Pineapple upside-down cake, giant cookies - all varieties, Ice Cream novelties, bagged snacks - nuts, chips, gummies, rice crispy treats, etc. The Grab N Go station is where you go to get your dessert on the DDP. Most items there are included and the CM's are very friendly & helpful when you have questions. It is nice too because you can just grab the item you want for your dessert and go! I know at other food courts you have to wait and order your dessert from a seperate station and sometimes this takes while and in the meantime your meal gets cold. Here you don't have to wait in a line or for a CM, you just grab what you want and go on your way.

After you get your meal & dessert you head to the cashier and pay. We never once had to wait in a line when we ate here.

DH had the Bacon Double Cheeseburger, fries, pineapple upside-down cake, and a drink. I had the Chicken Breast Nuggets, fries, pineapple upside-down cake, and a drink. DS7 wasn't very hungry so he and I shared that meal and there was plenty! The chicken was big and very good, definitely not McDonald's chicken nuggets! DS9 had the. . . . . you guessed it AGAIN - kids pizza meal!! With that he got a side - he picked pudding, a dessert - he picked a cookie, and a drink.

DH was very impressed with the fixings bar behind the drink station. They had just about every topping you can think of for your sandwich, and I think he used them all!

I'm glad you liked the food court. We will probably have a couple of meals there. It's good to know they have such a variety.

Hey Shelly-Welly-Bo-Belly!:)

The pics look just like I remember the place. Awwww- good memories!!
only... your pics weren't as crowded as I remember my trip being.:)

I stood at the grab n go one morning for....I'm not kidding....25 minutes (!!!) to check out! It was our only catastrophe there- our first morning before we went to the grocery store- so that's when we got the muffins that were as big as Drew's head.:rotfl: After that- I had my resort mug so I'd hop in for coffee and bolt.

we didn't order anything else- so it's good to see and hear your opinions.

Looking forward to The Plaza.

Jo
