Molluscum

You are probably going to have to go to a dermotologist as the only thing I have ever seen truly be effective is perscription cream or the treatments they do in office. For DD, perscription retin A cream did the trick. I would go sooner rather than later because the more they get, the harder they are to treat.

Thanks, we went yesterday and they froze them but I see no difference at all. Maybe it takes some time. We have to go back in 2 weeks so I will ask about the retin A.

Our doc says that any treatment will make them come back, just to let it be and they will eventually go away, which it did.

My DS has had it twice. His ped treated them with something he called bug juice. The treatment formed a blister and when it healed they were gone. This was about 6 years ago and he has not had any more.

My son has a lot of the but I may have to ask for that bug juice. :thumbsup2

My daughter had molluscum when she was little. I bought tea tree oil and dabbed it on with a q-tip every night before bed....and it worked. The smell is strong, but she didn't complain. After about 3 weeks, they "die" and fall off. It was soooo much better than treatments to freeze them off. That was 4 years ago and they never came back.

Our doc said the exact opposite. Qnce a treatment works and the body recognizes the virus that causes them, they will not return. DD had them at 4 adn is now 9 with none ever coming back. I tried to wait it out and have her body take care of it on its own, but she eneded up with over 40 spots on her back from shoulders to legs and they were moving to her stomach, legs and face. It was a long process to treat them a few at a time to eliminate them, but once her body started killing them off on its own they went away very quickly. The dermotologist said it would have gotten much worse before it got better if we had left it, and the ones on the face have the potential to scar.

Where did you get the tea tree oil from?

At Wal-Mart, in the vitamin aisle I believe. I believe it was made by Spring Valley, maybe cost $6? Her pediatrician had wanted to freeze them off, but I wasn't comfortable with that. I found the tea tree oil tip on a health board and thought what the heck? They were all over her neck and chest...broke my heart. The smell was gross, but it truly worked miracles.

I just have to say when I was scrolling through and saw the title of the thread for a split second all I could think of was Aquascum

Both of my sons had them. I was told by their dr to just let them go away on their own. After 8 months, we got a referral to the dermatologist and he prescribed a cream. They starting going away within a month and completely gone in 2 months. Freezing was never offered as a solution.

I will say, I found that salt water helped minimize them. He was in the gulf most that summer and a salt water pool and I definately saw a difference.
My friends child has them now and I told her the salt water trick so she's been putting him in a salt water bath and very slowly, they're getting smaller.
