Molluscum

My son & best friend both got them when they were 4 or 5. Both went to different Drs who said to leave them alone & they'd clear up on their own. They did with in a few months. My sons were on his chest & upper arm (in a straight line where he scratched & spread them) so maybe they cleared up quicker b/c they were covered. If they were visible or bothered him more I prob would have taken him to a Dermatologist.

My DD had them on her legs for about 10 months before they went away. They did end up going away by themselves. The last month before they went away, I used the aveeno for sensitive skin body wash, and was sure to wash the area with a separate wash cloth, and I dried the area with a separate small towel. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with them finally going away, or if they had just run their course. I was about to try the Walgreen's product suggested when they finally disappeared. They have been completely gone for about a year now.

ETA: Once they started to clear up, they all disappeared very quickly.

Still no change in any of them from the derm freezing them. :confused3 Thanks for all the input.

I hope they clear up soon! I remember being stressed and feeling like they would never go away.

Just echoing what a few others have said... my daughter was diagnosed about a year ago after I noticed the bumps didn't go away... we waited it out and now they are all gone. She had them on her chest, neck and face. There is some scarring from a few bumps that she frequently scratched. She's now a few months shy of 4... and luckily did not pass it off onto her baby sister.

My son had them and the dermatologist didn't tell me they were contagious! My sons were frozen a couple of times and cleared up after that with no scarring. Needless to say my daughter then got them before I figured out not to bath them together. Hers were on her chest and were more difficult to get rid of. We used wart remover and froze them ourselves although she does have a few small puck marks from them. I think we just waited to long with her so they were a little bigger or deeper. I would start treatment asap. Good luck!

we had an issue w/ them and I found a health site that said to put disstilled vinegar on them. It would burn a little (not enough to discontinue), but it has made a huge difference.

Very interesting. I did go buy the ZymaDerm from Walgreen today but I will keep the vinegar in mind. Thanks!!

Same here..DD11 had them on her face, throat and legs. Saw results in a week. Although, she scrubbed them first...then applied the ZymaDerm.

The Zymaderm worked for both my DS about 8 years ago and my DD 6 years ago. We tried the freezing route with my son first and if anything it made the spots angrier and they did not get smaller. Ordered the Zymaderm put it on twice a day and they just started to shrink. Also they stopped multiplying.
Good luck.

Zymaderm worked for DD too. My niece went through dermatology appts with little results from their treatments & suggestions, but the Zymaderm worked effectively!

Thanks for the Zymaderm and tea tree oil info. I think we are going to try the Zymaderm. My son's spots irritate him so much and the trip to the dermatologist was a nightmare.

We used Tea Tree Oil for my DD a few years ago and it has not reappeared. Good luck!

ZYMADERM
ZYMADERM
ZYMADERM

My daughter had this all over her legs (like 30-50 pustules) and the doctors kept saying "it'll go away" and to keep it clean.

Well, it was awful because she was self-conscious about it, the teachers would send her to the nurse's office, and it just looked plain awful.

After a little bit of research, we went to Walgreens and purchased the ZYMADERM. It was about $25 but it was the best investment. We applied it 2-3x per day and in less than 3 days there was a marked difference. 2 weeks after the first application, there was not a sign of it.

Please, try the ZYMADERM. I cannot say enough good things about it.

I'm going to try this zymaderm as well. I've never tried anything because the Dr told me they would go away on their own. I also bathe my kids together. Luckily my second child has not caught it. He must be thicker skinned.

Anyone have any tricks to help treat Molluscum? TIA
Get the Retin-A from the dermatologist. It takes several weeks of once a day application but it definitely works. We were told to hold out and let them go away by pediatrician and they just got 10 times worse doing nothing. And they started itching DS something awful. Dermatologist gave us the Retin-A cream and it did the trick.

We have the Zymaderm right now but if it does not work I will be asking for the Retin-A. Thanks.

OMG, I hope it clears up soon for you. My 6 yo had it last year on both legs. At first it was just one or two but then developed around the inner thigh area and knees. I panicked not ever hearing of this condition before. We went to the pediatrician and right away he knew what it was. Went then to a dermatologist who said we could try some prescription med but no gaurantee it would work and it would have been over $500.00. I searched online and found this product called Emuaid. Amazon sells it for about 50.00. It's a homeopathic medicine and it reminds me of vaseline.
All I know is that it worked and in about 3 weeks they were gone completely after having then for almost 6 months.
Good luck and hope it resolves soon

I did see that. Right now we have the Zymaderm. Hopefully this works. If not I will ask about the Retin-A some have suggested and if the doc will not give me that bc of DS having eczema then I will try the Emuaid. I am willing to try anything. Thanks
