I was skimming a thread earlier, and I saw a report about mold in the bathrooms.

Are we talking mold or mildew?

I know mildew can come on a shower curtain if it doesn't properly dry out since the bathroom is warm and moist... But I thought mold is a lot more toxic than mildew.

 Ack -- I think you might be referencing something I wrote about my studio at SSR. You may be right that it was mildew I saw and not mold. I dunno. It was under the soap plate. I noticed it when giving DD a bath.

I don't want to give anyone the impression that mold is running rampant in DVC properties.

It sounds like it was Mildew.

My DW has mold allergies. We have not had much trouble with it. Mold grows fast in Fla. We always check for it. Housekeeping has come in an treated it for us all the time. It can grow overnight on you. We have an owners locker and keep Tylex to spray to keep it under control. We have stayed at other than DVC resorts at WDW and know the room was cleaned well during the day and find a very small amount the next morning. It is a constant battle in Fla.

Thinking about it, At SSR I noticed that the bathroom fan was attached to a motion sensor (for energy savings)
One day, I hung up our swim trunks, and by night they never dried (and I noticed how muggy it was in the bathroom) I probably violated my TOS by drying them on my patio chairs, but that level of humidity (in my air-conditioned studio) was just too high due to how the system was designed.
Some hotels have a centralized vent system that is always running. I wonder how much SSR is saving in elect costs vs. added mousekeeping chemicals/time and maint costs...

We had mold (yes, it was fuzzy) coming out of the air vent @ BWV.

No one seemed remotely concerned despite this being a health hazzard (airborn mold spores). Took 2 days & 3 visits to the managers to get addressed/moved despite explaining son & I both have asthma/allergies/respiratory problems.

Totally understand FL climate is prime for bugs & mold/mildew. It's gonna happen. My problem is lack of attention by staff.

We had extensive mold on the walls at the Poly several years ago and in spite of repeated calls, it took three days before someone would come and clean it. Afterwards they gave us a one day discount. We have never stayed there again. No such problem at Coronado Springs, BWV and BCV thank goodness.

If mold gets real bad overnight I can tell.. I can get headaches and my nose will run and I can sneeze. It doesn't always happen but it has in the past and i freaked out seeing mold. But I have never had this is Disney.
