I am leaving this board. People here can be very rude and harsh. (Wee break in thread, multiple ADR thread, etc.) I guess most of the boards I am on are much better monitored because people would be banned for comments like these. Everyone is nice and respectful even if they disagree. I STRONGLY suggest you do this. There are several of us on other Disney boards that don't /aren't coming back. Just thought you should know.

I agree..That maybe some things need to be watched closer.. other things not so much.

I know that some of the Moderator's are better than others for catching bad behavior. But some get really petty and if you are a few pixels over the limit in your siggie.. they issue a violation. Which is pretty lame.. when people are beating people up in these threads.

With so many threads and so few moderators who have lives and jobs.. for what ever reason when a person gets beat up (AND I WAS ONE OF THOSE for simply making a statement on behalf of APholders. ) sometimes it gets overlooked or simply ignored because maybe they have the same opinion as the rest of the bashers.

So far.. on two other "Disney type boards".. I have not been bashed.I joined boards to be with others like myself who love Disney World and Disney Land . Get hints and get questions answered by those who have BEEN THERE DONE THAT. I really try to think before I type.. and I know from watching other threads what is peoples HOT BUTTON. And I try and will continue to try to steer clear of such confrontation.

ALL OF US need to be more respectful of others... And maybe the "Dis" can get more moderators to help those that are watching us.

I think the mods do a great job and get very little thanks.... So thank you mods and Thank you pete for these boards!!

Sorry you are unhappy

I agree with Jane. :goodvibes

I just looked at the multiple ADR thread and there's nothing in there that requires moderation. :confused3

So, the OP is upset about undermoderation and Dolcimia is upset about overmoderation. That says something.

Mods can't make everyone happy. I'm sure they try their best. :goodvibes

I say have fun on the other boards. I think the mods do a great job! As you can see by my number of posts, I lurk here more than anything for news and info just about everyday. They have a tough "job", and you're danged if you do and danged if you don't."

They can't please everyone. We're all adults here - some people just don't act it.

Thanks moderators for all you do!!

A big thank you to all the moderators who do a thankless job.

While I'm at it, I'd like to say a big thank you today to everyone involved with the DIS. I know today especially is a terrible day for you after the loss of Bob Varley yesterday.

choirfarm--have you been reporting the problems that are going on? If there is a problem with someone you need to press the ! inside the red triangle under their name and report the problem. This is the main way that the moderators are alerted to a problem.

The DIS boards does have a system in place to deal with problems and with posters that attack or cause problems, but unless it is reported we often don't know it is going on.

Today is great day to thank the mods! God Bless you for all you do...great work!

I just wanted to throw in my 2 cents.... I'm a senior Mod on another popular board and it is a almost thankless job. There are countless hours spent reading and scanning.. moving, deleting. This is a huge board with so many posters and the mods here do a great job! Cheers to them!!!

My family has taken so much wonderful information into the parks from this board. Our trip wouldn't be the same with out this board.

And in light of the the entire board feeling such a big loss, this is really petty.

Thanks to all the mods and admins!

Athena~

Christine,

As I said on your other post, if you are unhappy here, you should leave. It doesn't appear to be a good fit for you and if so, it's just not worth it. Life is too short to be upset about a message board on the internet. Peace and good luck.

I think the moderators do a wonderful job. I admit that I am guilty of snarky remarks on sensitive topics, but I really think it's hypersensitive of you to say you won't return because of a few rude remarks made here and there. Do you expect people to police in real life because someone was mean to you? I mean, I take everything I read on the internet with a grain of salt.

The DIS is a wonderful community and we are real people behind these computers with real-life reactions. I don't like communities where you're in a bubble and everything that's contributed gets a two thumbs up reaction. I belong to a cosmetics community where people post pictures of their "looks" of the day and some of them are so horrific. :scared1: But, what's more disheartening are ALL the positive reactions of people encouraging something that's clearly not a good thing. No one even says anything constructive or will say they don't like it, it's so bizarre to me. It's so... fake.

I know there's a difference between constructive criticism and being snarky - but I think it comes with the territory and I've come to accept that. I'd much rather a community full of opinions than a bubble community that has no genuine feedback.

Anyway, my advice to you is if you're happier somewhere else, feel free to go, but please don't bash the moderators simply because you weren't aware of the report function. There's a lot of activity on the boards and it's impossible for a handful of moderators to be able to read every single topic on this board. That's why it's up to us to report bad behavior.

Good luck!

I agree that being a Moderator requires alot of time and effort for which therer is not much appreciation. An online forum is like real life....many nice, wonderful people, a few whol like to argue or provoke just for the heck of it, a few people who are always right, never wrong and a few who have no sense of kindness and who like to stir things up (a troll). You just have to learn to ignore those who are being a pain, and listen to those from whom you feel respected and that are actually trying to help. The ones that are truly offensive, cruel or are making personal attacks you must report.

Thanks for all you do moderators!!!

What big loss. And no, I did not know about the triangle thing.
Christine

Please feel free to report any post(s) that you feel need a moderators attention. We all try to stay on top of things, but it's a hard thing to do, especially on boards that move quickly! Any help we can get from our members is great...just hit that red triangle, and report any post you feel needs reporting. We can't promise that we'll deal with it in the way you feel is appropriate, but we will look at it and come to a decision about what, if anything, needs to be done.

Please feel free to report any post(s) that you feel need a moderators attention.

How about harassing PMs? :confused3 There is no red triangle for those! :sad2: When a recent thread was closed, I had a member PM me to continue and argument.

Please see below, particularly the bolded section which is uncalled for and WRONG in more ways that one! :scared1: I really have no tolerance for those who feel the need to put others down due to their gender, geographical location or those who find it humerous and acceptable to toss about derogatory remarks regarding physical and mental disabilities.

Clearly being from Alabama your capacity for intellectual comprehension is limited, perhaps I should type more s-l-o-w-l-y f-o-r y-o-u...particularly as you are a fan of a "school" whose academic standards demonstrate a clear and unambiguous dedication to the prevention of knowledge...but I digress.

I am faced with a delicate conundrum. How to demonstrate to the functionally illiterate the malapropism while maintaining the conversational competence and capacity to convey the difficult idea or notion of a definition in simplistic and as some might call it, terms an imbecile or small child might understand...alas...I claim defeat as I do not care nor am I entertained further. There you go! You win

I consider it akin to a discussion of religion...where intellect is tossed out the window with repeated assertions that are unproven, illogical and downright asinine…you assert you were correct in claiming my discussion is hypocrisy. I provide you the definition of the word clearly and indisputably refuting your claim; yet you still assert you are correct…your faculty for intelligent discussion evades you.

As far as being a troll…hardly…I was merely trying to bring some rationality and clear thought process to the discussion…clearly many of the “Distards” here are incapable of such…most likely due to the disproportionally large contingent of women and southerners.
good day

btw: I don’t need a thesaurus I have an MS in linguistics the thesaurus is in my head honey

Apparently trolls don't like being ignored and dismissed.

Wow, BamaFan. That's terrible. :confused3 It's really uncalled for to bring a debate, no matter how snarky to a personal level. That happened to me recently (not via PM) where someone threatened me because I questioned their logic rather aggressively.

I can assure you, I won't lose sleep over it. 29 posts and nothing but arguments and insults...clearly someone just trying to get a rise out of people.:stir: I wasn't the only person they chose to argue w/ via PM. Like I said in my response, 'save your Thesaurus for someone who cares.' :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 It's definitely good that you're not letting it get to you. I was a little annoyed at the personal attack/threat at me but I'm over it now. :rolleyes1 Otherwise, I don't get worked up over people stating their opinions and getting snarky on debates here. :cutie: Sticks and stones, you know?
