Hello Fellow Disney'ers!
Just returned from a 3 day stay at Disney World!! Stayed 1st night at Coronado Springs-never again!!! Bell services very rude, food overpriced and room too hot. But worst of all, the room was smaller than the All-Star Music standard room and the beds were hard as rocks! We changed to a Value (All-Star Movies) for the next night and it was like sleeping in a castle. Although in a standard room, the beds were soft!!!! All of the staff at the Value resorts are kind and like to serve the Guest (imagine that). The families that we meet there are always friendly and we feel safe there. We never worry about our child making too much noise in the dining area and we never are kept awake by noise from the outside. I plan to write WDW a letter complaining about our stay-but in the meantime, wanted to let anyone who might be considering paying $163 for the CSR, a chance to hear a eyewitness review.

Headed back at Thanksgiving!! Love the 'ole mouse!
p.s. Haunted Mansion has undergone some serious additions! Lovin' it!

Coronado Springs was designed for convention attendees, not the normal guest. I agree, it’s not the resort of choice for real people.

Sorry to hear you did not like your stay at the CSR. According to the information from Deb Wills site the room size at the CSR is 314 square feet and the rooms at the ASMU are 260 square feet. So it does appear that the rooms at the CSR are bigger.
The nice thing about WDW is that there are alot of different resorts, value, moderate and deluxe. There is something for everyone.

And I totally disagree. I love it. I am 30 and just your average Disney guest. I just ignore the convention guests.

The rooms at CSR are bigger by quite a bit than the values. Sorry you had a bad stay, we love it there and have always been treated really well by the staff and see lots of families and cute towel animal displays in the windows etc. I've stayed there several times and I've never seen a conventioneer.

Sorry you did not like the CSR. We did not use Bell Services so I could not comment on them. We thought the beds were fine and loved that there were extra pillows in the room. Every other Cast Member at the CSR (from check-in, restaurants, store, flagging down a cart for a ride) were extremely courteous and helpful (as was Mousekeeping). We used the dining plan so can't comment on the price of the food. I am a very light sleeper and had no problem sleeping...never heard a sound and there was a huge party going onone night outside with a live band for some conventioneers (I know this only because we took a stroll one night). We stayed at the All-Star in 2000 and hated it. It is all a matter of personal opinion. I wouldn't stay anywhere but the CSR or the Polynesian.

Wow, if I am not a real person, then what does that make me? We have stayed there twice for over a week each time, with me, DH and 2 kids. We loved it!! Pepper Market was awesome, yes expensive, but with the dining plan, who cared?? The pool was great, the staff was great, they bent over backwards for us. Bell staff was great also.

Any issues that might have popped up were fixed. I was very sorry that they were booked this past August, or we would have stayed there again. We did drop by for lunch one day though. YUMMMY!!!

The rooms at the CSR are indeed larger than the rooms at the All-Star Resort.

I will never forget my first stay at the CSR. I opened the door to the room and the door hit the bed!

Somehow the imagineers make the rooms look much smaller…

You know its funny, I have stayed at every resort on property multiple times, and the only time I have ever really had issues, were at moderates. For example, the first time I stayed at POFQ, we were checked into a dirty room. Last visit to CSR, our keys didnt work, and we had to trek back at midnight for new ones. I still love both of these resorts, and will stay again. I think its pure luck that both resorts happened to be moderates, and I'm sure it is not par for the course, but rather the more you stay, the more likely you are to have something go wrong.

Give CSR another try, its a great resort, and if given the choice between this and a value, I choose CSR every day of the week...

No they are not. I've stayed at both resorts several times and the CSR rooms are definitely bigger. Actually I've found the beds at CSR to be the same as those at the all stars.

It's really great you were happy once you were moved to Movies. I moved after 3 days on or recent trip and I think it's important to know exactly what fits your needs at any given vacation time in your life.

I do think it's also important that we take care not to over generalize about ALL "values" or "mods" or "deluxe". Once I see a post that says - "I will only do the(insert resort level here).....", I start :confused3 . Folks are very defensive around here sometimes about their resort choices - maybe because of so much time, money and energy invested.

The wonderful thing about WDW is that there ARE so many options (maybe TOO many!!??) for lodging. Almost everyone's taste, style and budget can be accommodated. Those differences in all of us need to be respected.
JMHO

We just got back from CSR and were treated quite well by the staff. The beds were incredibly soft - pillow-top mattresses, and my DH about froze me out of our room some nights I was so cold. We thought the Pepper Market food was fine (ate there once) - nothing exceptional, but good-sized portions.

Sorry you had a bad experience, OP, but glad you liked AS-Movies!

Sorry, I meant no offense. Just trying to point out that the average conventioneer is a different sort of guest. They require and expect amenities that most family oriented guests don’t need or want.

Regular guests are sometimes unpleasantly surprised to learn that they will be treated to convention style accommodations and also have to pay extra for services they don’t use.

The mandatory service fee at the food court gets many complaints.

Unfortunately, some guests book at the CSR and don’t realize it’s a convention resort and I understand their frustration.

I stayed at CSR on a convention (Disney business is always fun!) and I encountered none of the issues that the OP did. All CSR rooms are bigger than the values as previously mentioned and the bed I slept on was very comfortable. On my stay at CSR there were a lot of families who seemed to be enjoying their stay. It's got a great pool and nice amenities.

Each resort provides something for someone, that is the great thing about Disney, eh?

Well I guess there will be more room for me then at CSR. It's my family's favorite hotel -- I guess my kids and us adults aren't normal. (But then that is nothing new in my house!)

We've stayed in values, different moderates and deluxes but we keep coming back to CSR. It is now at a point if CSR isn't available, we don't go to Disney. (After a nightmare stay at POR-- we learned our lesson)

We all have to realize that when someone has a bad experience they tend to report about it. How many of us come back here, after our WDW trips, and tell everyone that our stay at CBR (or POP or POR) was just what we expected, that the room was acceptable, housekeeping did a good job and the food court was fine. We don't, that's the bottom line. That's why I always take every review with a grain of salt..OP, I am not saying you didn't have the experience you said you did! But, everyone has different needs and expectations.
Let me relate a story...last Oct I took my dd, her friend and friends mother, to WDW to celebrate the two girls' 13th birthdays. Now, my friend has been to WDW several times...stayed at the CR, Polynesian, and POR (with us also at POR). So, I knew she would like BWV. I got a terrific villa, overlooking the boardwalk...as close to perfect as you can get. Well, my deluxe friend was a bit miffed that she wasn't going to get fresh towels each night! Seems she needs a clean facecloth every day!!! Man! So, I gave her our supply as well.
But, as this shows, different people have different expectations!!!
So...OP, thanks for your report. I'm sorry your stay wasn't all that you that you had hoped it would be. There are going to be resorts that are perfect for one family but not so perfect for others. It's a good thing that Disney has so many to choose from.
I will say that I seldom do the moderates anymore. If I'm not at a DVC resort, you can usually find me at POP. I just don't think the additional cost for a moderate give you enough back in the way of amenities at the mods. We don't use hot tubs, and seldom eat at the table service restaurants at the mods, we use the food courts instead. So, the values get it done for us. Well, for me and dd. Dh hates POP!!! Will only stay at BWV.

I'm with you ! We really enjoyed it here. No way are the rooms smaller than value.

I don't know about CSR because I've never stayed there, but CBR is a moderate and I recently returned from a great vacation there. The bed was very soft. I was having trouble falling asleep at home in my own bed recently, but the minute my head hit their pillow, I was out like a light.

I had no trouble with any of the CM's except for a problem with our dining plan, but they were never rude, just a little slow. Never heard a peep from our neighbors and hardly saw other people in our "village". It was like we had the place to ourselves. I'm not sure about the price of the food because we were on the free dining plan.

I've stayed at ASMusic and for me it was just too crowded, noisy and I didn't like the big icon things. If I'm able to, I'm willing to pay a little bit extra for peace and quiet and nice theming.

We stayed at CSR for 4 nights at the beginning of the month and we normally stay at the POFQ or POR and I too wasn't very happy with CSR. The Pepper Market - way overpriced! We ate breakfast and dinner once and decided it was not worth it. As for the room, we were in Casita one, on the third floor, second room from the end of the floor. We could hear the elevator dinging and all the noise in the hallway. We were one floor above the convention center, there were conferences, but we never saw masses of people entering or exiting. The location was great - none of the parks were too far, McDonalds was down the road in one direction, Hess station in the opposite direction (DH got coffee there every morning), and EPCOT just a few minutes away (we had our dog in the kennel). Would we stay there again, absolutely, but DH he liked the area near the main pool better (Ranchitos I believe).
