Moderate vs. Value??!! Don't think so.....

Sorry to hear you did not like your stay at the CSR. According to the information from Deb Wills site the room size at the CSR is 314 square feet and the rooms at the ASMU are 260 square feet. So it does appear that the rooms at the CSR are bigger.
.

Yes,CSR is 314 square feet and the values are 260 square feet.

To me there is not much room size difference between a mod and a value.

Here is the layout of a mod.
The bathroom is about the same size as the All Stars but you will have 2 sinks instead of one.

All Star room layout

The mod has 54 square feet more than the value.
That means if both the mod and the value room were 27 feet long than the mod would be 2 feet wider. Just enough room for a double sink instead of a single.
The extra 2 feet is between the foot of bed and the TV thus giving a little more passing space but no real extra storage space or extra room between the beds, the walls, and /or the doorways.

Just my 2 cents

Actually, CSR only has one sink in the room. It may not sound like much to some, but that was one of the deciding factors of me picking a different moderate resort.

Coronado Springs was designed for convention attendees, not the normal guest. I agree, it’s not the resort of choice for real people.
huh? even conventioneers are real people.

OP sorry you had a bad experience there. I've read more positive then negative on CSR so we're staying there upcoming trip. I also find it hard to believe the rooms are smaller than at a value resort.

The furniture is fatter as well (it takes up more room).

Conventioneers are on per diem and generally have limited choices (or no choice) in selecting their lodging. As a condition of their employment, they are required to use the facilities provided by their employer. They are encumbered by requirements that regular guests don’t encounter.

I don't know about that.... We're our own group of people.... ;) I go to a big convention in Atlanta every year for the past 8 or so and have been limited to where I can stay (due to roomie who gets the room) and having to deal with the crowds a large convention attracts...

But then nerds and geeks are a clique unto their own..... :cool1:

While I know many will disagree, I felt your post could've been mine from a few years ago! I checked out after two days due to the rock hard beds, rude CM's (ONLY in the food area, the others were great) and just an overall bad feel and experience. I understand this may have been just bad luck with the CM and room but I checked into ASM and LOVED it. It IS smaller, definately, but the kids and I loved the food court (ok, not great food, but very good for what we paid), the CM's were awesome, and the beds were soft. I even had a bunch of towel animals set out for the kids and they put all the stuffed animals we bought in various spots around the room - very cute if you saw them.

I also have to say that I stayed at POR and hated the noise between rooms. I had a screaming child in the room next to ours and felt as if she was sleeping next to me. The woman with her actually apologized through the wall when my three year old said "Mommy, why that little girl don't stop crying all the time!?" (She sounded sincere but it's sad that we could hear EVERYTHING so well) Certainly not the same experience I had in another room at POR so I would encourage anyone interested in trying a resort to go ahead and give it a try; Your experience may not be the same as mine.

Our experience: stayed at All Stars (Sports) once, but won't stay there again.

We've stayed at CSR mulitple times and found it to be very nice. We would prefer a deluxe, but if CSR is available, we find it quite nice.:earsboy:

Pepper Market Food YUK!!!!:scared1:

:woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo: :thumbsup2 I could not agree more.

I will never stay there again simply bc of the dining choices. However, we also found the employees at Pepper Market rude. There are other reasons why CSR is not one of my favorites, but these alone are enough to keep me away.

The rooms at the CSR are indeed larger than the rooms at the All-Star Resort.

I will never forget my first stay at the CSR. I opened the door to the room and the door hit the bed!

Somehow the imagineers make the rooms look much smaller…

This was my experience as well! I found the rooms at the values to be too small for our liking. We really enjoyed CSR. But like many others have said, the great thing about Disney is there is something for everone! Im sorry you didnt enjoy your stay at CSR though.

We've stayed at both CSR and AS Sports. I have to say that although CSR rooms are larger on paper, we couldn't see much difference in room size when we were there. We like CSR because of how truly beautiful the resort is. But, AS Sports seemed fine, too. We didn't notice any difference in the beds. Now when we left AS Sports and moved over to GF RPC, we noticed the bed difference! But, as between CSR and AS Sports, not much difference to us. Perhaps were were tired from the parks.

I don't get the whole conventioneer issue either. There are a few additional services available at CSR, but most I don't feel I'm paying for unless I actually use them -- hair salon, table service restaurant. Yes, there is a gym with some equipment, but I enjoyed using that. They have CMs driving carts around to transport people. That seemed like a good thing, except they always seemed to be going a different way than we were. Last time I checked CSR was the same price as POR and CBR -- and neither of those resorts have the extra "convention" amenities. So, rather than paying for those extra amenities, I consider them a free bonus!

We liked the CSR pool and slide as well as the hot tub. We didn't use the pools at AS Sp since we were only there for two nights before changing resorts. The surfs up pool was closed for renovation.

We, too, are not fans of the Pepper Market. Employees were rude and food wasn't great. But, we didn't think the AS Sp food court was great either. Both left us feeling that it was better to have breakfast in the room. In this regard CSR gets the edge since it has a refrigerator in the room.

All in all, we love CSR, but would stay All Stars again if it suited our needs for that trip.

We have never stayed at a value before but have stayed at the Mod's a few times. Our trip this past spring was to CSR and we LOVED it! Thought the resort, theming, food etc. was all perfect for US. That doesn't mean it floats everyone's boat! Here are some pics of our room, which was a king bed room in the Casita's.

When you stay somewhere only for one night it's hard to develop an attachment or fondness.... you are in and gone before you know it.

Maybe if the OP had stayed for a few days they would have a different view, or maybe not!

Having just stayed at ASMu last week and CSR last year I will take CSR everytime. I love that resort-everything about it. We went to the Pepper Market for lunch almost every day. I love the Fajita platter.

Sorry you didnt like it. Thats why Disney has so many resorts because everyone has different likings.

I do recall that the fajitas were tasty! I've stirred up more bees with this post than Pooh has honey pots....anyway, that is the neat thing about Disney and these boards. We can share our experiences and hopefully help others to know what to look for. I've seen some really good pictures and post in support for the CSR. Thanks for your response.

We just got back from CSR and were treated quite well by the staff. The beds were incredibly soft - pillow-top mattresses, and my DH about froze me out of our room some nights I was so cold. We thought the Pepper Market food was fine (ate there once) - nothing exceptional, but good-sized portions.

Sorry you had a bad experience, OP, but glad you liked AS-Movies!

I agree with you. I loved the beds at CSR and in my modest experiences with hotel stays- the bed was great. and the air conditioner being central air was one of the reasons I went with CSR. I believe there is a sensor on the airconditoner to keep it from running when no one is around- maybe that was the issue with the aircondtioner

The CSR does not have central air conditioning for the rooms. Each room has its own A/C unit.

Are you sure? I was there last year and I thought it had central air. I could adjust it, but I couldn't get the room cold enough.

I did like CSR though (the air was my only complaint). Love the Pepper Market, the buses, and the pool.

Wow! Three other people got the same impression as I did of the Pepper Market employees. The Pepper Market is the biggest reason why I refuse to return to CSR. I thought the food was o.k., but each of the three times I visited during my last stay there the employees were awful!

Notice I didn't say "CMs" - the food service at CSR is not disney-operated (or at least it wasn't during my stay). I think they could benefit from some of the famous Disney customer service training.

Glad to see others have had similar experiences here - when I've posted about my experience at the Pepper Market before I've been led to believe I was crazy or something because everyone else just luvvs the Pepper Market.

(Tasha I probably should have quoted under Von Drakes post- -just agreeing with you - Tasha)

CSR certainly does not have those wall units - Maybe I am calling it something it is not- but the thermator is on the wall and adjusted there. - I do believe it is called central air.

Rooms
CSR standard rooms hold up to four guests and a crib is available to add a 5th (child). A rollaway bed is also an option at CSR but again, CSR rooms do not accommodate 5 guests. Both the crib and rollaway bed are at an additional charge. A $15.00 charge will be added per adult every adult over 2 per room (max 4 adults). All the guest rooms are identical in size and furniture, the building schemes are what separate each village. CSR rooms only have 1 sink, not the usual double sink setup that the other moderates have but they do have the privacy curtain. The average guest room is 314 sq ft. All rooms have a mini refrigerators included in the cost of the room. The refrigerators do not have a freezer section. Another plus to the CSR rooms are the central air heating/cooling systems that make noise a non-issue. These systems are whisper quiet. They are not the traditional built-in-wall units.
Room breakdown

I stayed at the CSR once, but I preferred the CBR, it just had an overall better feel to me. Haven't stayed at either for awhile though.
