MNSSHP wrist bands? New or old style

Does anyone know if the old style snap on plastic type will be used for the party or if they are going to use some type of different band? Maybe like the magic band?

I assume it will be snap-on plastic and continue to look nothing like a MB. Allowing MBs as proof of party eligibility would make things a bit too difficult for CMs to distinguish between partygoers and party crashers.

That makes sense. Thank you.

How so doesn't it have ACTIVE RFID? They could easily have a monitor that goes off every time they are around a magic band that doesn't have a ticket to the event.

Isnt that part of the benefit of Active RFID is that you can scan it from a ways away?

CMs walk around scanning guests' wrists and if the Party Wristband is not visible, the guests are asked to head towards the exit. A quick view is much faster than an RFID reader especially when hundreds of guests, party and non-party, are seated in the Hub waiting for the Castle Show or walking through checkpoints.

I tend to agree with mesaboy2 that they're still more likely to go with snap on wristbands like they have in years past. I would think it's quicker to identify folks without a band (just glance at their wrist) than it would be to figure out which Magic Band is invalid (unless the scanner does something to quickly pinpoint the exact guest?).

I have never been to an event yet but will be at MNSSHP this year. With people dressing up and so many people walking around isn't even spotting a wristband hard? as it could be on either wrist or could end up hiding under a costume?

Since there is checkpoints, rides, and meet/greets wouldn't all those CMS be able to get pretty much everyone who isn't supposed to be there?

Not sure exactly how the magic band stuff works for RFID but with enough R/D which Disney has had plenty of they could easily pinpoint the direction and aprox distance to the MB that didn't have the ticket tied to it. People could opt in to the old school bands if they didn't have a MB.

Who knows though maybe Disney's system isn't to that level yet but I can only imagine in the future the cost it would cut from having to hand out the million or so plastic bands over the countless parties they have all year right?

Not hard at all for the CMs to see them, actually it's kind of funny when you see a CM approaching and your hand and everyone else in the areas shoots up in the air to show it. We are conditioned :lmao:

I've been going to these since the beginning and I'm sure they will stick with the snap on paper-like thing that you want to chew off your wrist by the time you leave.

Have an awesome time !

I would estimate that about half of the guests wear costumes and the other half do not. Yes, some of the costumes involve long sleeves that could cover up the wristband, but it is Florida in September and October and it is still hot and humid.

Yes, they do have checkpoints throughout the parks, where CMs ask you to show your wristbands as you walk-by. Most of the check points are not single file, so the CM just glances at your wrist as you walk by. I can see where scanning MB at the ride entrances would be just as easy, but I'm less sure about at the check points, parade route, etc. I haven't dealt with the MB yet, so I don't know how fast they read and easy it is to pinpoint a single guest in a crowd. I'm pretty sure the wristbands are extremely cheap.

I haven't been in about 4 years, but it really is amazing how efficiently CM's get non party goers out of the park. I have heard concerns that there were non-party goers allowed to stay or that basically got under the radar. But, I was pretty impressed when we were there.

Sometimes technology is grand, but other times it is so much easier to use a Mk I Eyeball. This is one of those other times.

Having paid for our MNSSHP admission everytime we go--makes me furious to see non-paying guests enjoying the parade and fireworks. Oh well--I just look the other way--BUT it still makes me mad!! :D
