MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Just a word of warning. The parties that are way out from the holiday DO tend to be less attended. However, if you're going 9/14, that IS the first party of the year, and I would expect it to be fairly heavily attended, especially since they are starting later this year than in the past.

I don't say that to scare you, but so you can plan accordingly and adjust your expectations if that IS the case.

Aw, man.....
Do you think guest services the day of the party will have something posted about the where villains might be for pix and signatures?

Good question. I have no idea. I'd plan on it being the same as years past, but be prepared for little surprises along the way. Any other party day and you could get all the info you want right here on the DIS!

I've never been to a party before so was excited when I found out there was a party date during our trip. The first party is our very last night and I thought that would be a great end to our holiday :goodvibes

Thing is I have two members of our group who keep changing their mind about going and obviously 4 adult tickets are gonna be expensive. So I'm in two minds about buying them now or leaving it until we get out there. Does the first night sell out early or would I be able to pick up tickets the first week in September does anyone think?

I was thinking of going Sun, October 24, our arrival day to Orlando, offsite. We'll be onsite the next night. I noticed that many of you are trying to avoid week nights, so maybe I should go the 26th or 28th? Any thoughts? Are Sundays as crowded as Fridays and Saturdays? I would think if people are at leaving (at end of vacation) or just arriving, it might not be as crowded. ?

Is it easy to find the cute little mickey ear pumpkin buckets in the park?

Yes, they have them in most the shops along main street. You can buy them during the day also in those shops or at DTD at the World of Disney. I know last year they were out of them by the end of our trip in October, we saw them at the beginning of our trip, but by the end I didn't see any in the shops. We had one from the year or two before, so we didn't need one, but I heard several people asking for them.

they only put out the special halloween party merchandise at 7pm, that way it's only sold to the party payers, making it more special to have.

But surely there will be villains not in the shows signing elsewhere?

Probably Captain Hook and the Queen of Hearts. If you count Lady Tremaine, she should be out with the steps. But that's all I recall from last year.

I'd also like to add that any day guests lingering after 7pm cannot purchase MNSSHP merchandise. You will be asked to show your party ticket to make a purchase and in some cases, to even enter the store. ;)

We went on opening day of MNSSHP and it was great, it was busy, but I didn't feel that the crowd was terrible.

I, by chance, went looking for a popcorn tub that was halloween-related and found out that the popcorn cart closest to the Haunted Mansion sold a tub that was not sold anywhere else in the park - it is pretty cool!

The mickey pumpkin pails are awesome and can be found all over (at least at the first date). They are cute to put a glow stick in and carry or display. They did give out special trick-or-treat bags as well - they were cute.

I was also able to buy the soundtrack for the evening at Star Traders as well. I was also pleased to see that some of the parade light-up toys were very reasonably priced - ghosts that change colors....for around $3.00 a piece as well.

We are going to our first MNSSHP on 10/1! Can't wait, hopefully we'll have good weather, I've already ordered tickets, so we'll be there no matter what. Kids are excited DD (11) DS (9).

What day of the week probably has the lowest crowds for the party? I was leaning toward October 24, but it's a Sunday.

Also, do the first and second parades both start in Frontierland?

hey

we are so looking forward to our 2nd MNSSHP.....my DH loves it so we had to do it again this year.

is anyone doing personalised tshirts this year...i need ideas....

we are two aussies who cant lug huge costumes with us half way around the world, so i thought a tshirt might make the DH happy..

Help.........

Thanks for all the info thus far! This is a wonderful thread!

We will be attending our first MNSSHP on October 7.

I was wondering if anyone had a picture of the bags that they give out to collect candy. At the very least, does anyone know the approximate size?

Someone said that they were small, but I was kinda wondering how small.

Thanks so much!

:goodvibes

I'd say the bags are about 9" x 9" x 4". They are usually good enough. I guess it depends if you are mostly trick or treating or riding and doing the shows and parades.
