MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Both parades, including the Headless Horseman, start in Frontierland. The Headless Horseman comes through around 15 to 20 minutes ahead of the parade.

Actually, in my experience he rides about 5 minutes before the parade IF you are sitting at the beginning of the parade in Frontierland and more like 15 to 20 minutes ahead IF you are sitting on Main Street.

We went to MNSSHP Oct 1...here are some pics of our stash. LOL Lots of good chocolate...it wasn't a horribly hot night, so maybe they put more out.

But it's not possible that the Headless Horseman can ride 20 minutes before the official start time of the parade in Frontierland AND then also 20 minutes before parade gets to Main Street because the parade itself takes almost 20 minutes just to get to Main Street. KWIM?

Once the parade starts, the people on Main Street are waiting a good 15 to 20 minutes for the parade to get to them.

I've been to 4 parties and every time he rode about 5 minutes before the official start of the parade (so 5 minutes before for the folks in Frontierland) and then by the time folks on Main Street saw the parade (20 minutes after the official start of the parade), the Headless Horseman would appear so 20 minutes before the parade official start time.

I believe they actually slowed his pace down a bit this year for safety sake .At least that's what the CM's told us. That is not surprising after the problems they had this summer. I do know that the wait in both Liberty Square 9/29 and in front of the castle 10/1 was VERY long between the Headless Horseman and the parade.

I'm only saying that if you REALLY want to see the Headless Horseman, err on the side of caution and plan on him coming 15 to 20 minutes before the parade, or you could be very disappointed.

I agree err, on the side of caution....

No, I haven't been this year so it very well could have changed. He's always galloped pretty quickly but cautiously by compared to the time it takes the parade to go by and if you look away you could miss him and and we all had to have our feet off the street.

All I was trying to saying was let's say:

If Frontierland sees him at approx 10:15p (15 minutes before parade starts)
Then Main Street sees him at around 10:20p (which is approx 25 minutes before parade gets to them).

Basically on Main Street it feels like you are waiting alot longer for the parade to come after seeing him gallop by compared to those in Frontierland since they get to see the parade first. Their wait between his gallop and the parade is shorter than those sitting on Main Street.

I sat on Main Street 3 times and the wait after he went by was about 15-20 minutes between him and the parade. I sat in Frontierland once and the wait after he went by was about 5 minutes for the parade to start.

Yes, get there early regardless. I always got a spot at least 30 minutes before the start of the parade regardless of where I sat just to be safe.

I really don't mean to argue with you. Hope this makes sense.

Now I just need to find some cool Halloween mickey ears and convince DH to wear them.

I also think they don't want people in full masks, but we did see some as we walked around the park. I personally wouldn't recommend it just because you don't know how hot it will be.

Thank you. We decided not to go with the skellington for both of those reasons, as well as probably not being able to see peripherally very well.
Anyway, can't wait. Not long now.

We also watched from Liberty Square on the 29th (skipped the parade on the 1st). I'd say the HH came by about 10-15 minutes before the actual parade.

And also LOTS of chocolate!!

Before you leave, go to guest services and add days onto your multi-day park ticket. Its cheaper that way than to buy them anew next year. Should always add the "no expiration" also and I've always been fond of the "park hopper" option as well.

We got about 20 or so (the CM dumped the rest of her bag into DNiece's treat sack) eyeballs as we were leaving. DNiece had them for breakfast one day.

Thanks so much for the last minute help last night! We had a wonderful time! Really HOT!!! Walked on almost all rides all night long! The parade was amazing -- Headless Horseman rode by about 5 minutes before the parade started -- we were in front of Hall of Presidents. Totally worth it, I'm so glad we made the last minute decision.
