MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Hey everyone!

We went to the MNNSHP this past Friday night Sept 11th. We had a great time! Some folks had fantastic costumes on! Our favorites were these 2 Dads. They were waiting by strollers with bags of candy while their wives and kids were on It's a Small World. We were waiting for Peter Pan and saw them. One was dressed as Dorothy from Wizard of Oz with red sparkly Vans Sneakers, wig, dorothy dress, and full beard. The other one was the Wicked Witch of the West, big hat, wig, black dress that laced up the front where he had chest hair hanging out, painted green and full beard. Hilarious! They were eating candy from the kids' bags. We shouted to them that they had the best costumes and they laughed and thanked us.

We skipped the first parade to collect candy and ride rides which were all walk on. Most of the candy is tootsie rolls, dots, lollipops, sour patch kids. I would say 90% is that kind of stuff with 10% chocolate. My sister kept laughing because she would score a mini snickers at a station and I'd get raisins or something like that. We kept laughing! There were some angry folks that kept asking where the chocolate was. Grumpy!

The second parade was great! Loved the gravediggers, all of the characters, and the cute dances they were doing. We missed the fireworks! We were on the haunted mansion ride and it got stuck for about 10 minutes inside, so that was a bummer but we had seen fireworks all week, so no biggie.

The coolest thing was the "dead guy" who was on the liberty belle boat in liberty square. There was a candy collecting area along that way and he was all made up to be dead and was walking on the boat which they had a fog machine blowing nearby. He was holding a lantern and walking really slow. He jerked quickly at one point and scared the girls behind us in line for candy, they started screaming and then we all laughed. Very funny.

Didn't think the party was crazy crowded. We had a great time at it! Very fun atmosphere and all of the CMs were so friendly and in the spirit.

Hope everyone else has a good time in the future!!

:flower3:

They do not hand them out until after 4:00p. You can get them at various locations throughtout the park. The CMs will have festive clothes on. There is one location in front of the castle.

You do not have to exit and re-enter.

Thank you!

I didn't see this mentioned...make sure you flip the image before you print. It must print backwards (mirror image) on the ironon paper or your shirt will be backwards.

Depends on what kind of transfer paper you get. Like I said, just read the instructions. The dark transfer paper doesn't need to be flipped.

To answer previous poster's question, yes they do sell a small variety of MNNSHP shirts. Some of them glow in the dark (we got those!). There are also limited edition party pins!

Some people have reported that lines for popular characters get "closed" early. What does that mean?

Disneywego- Where did you get your nice deep bags? Those look great! The only bags I'm seeing at the craft stores are canvas, and too shallow.

thank you to every one that liked our bags. I;m not as crafty as some.. but i have to say i loved the way they came out :)

For those who may have an interest, here's a link about what treats people have gotten at MNNSHP. On the second page, people begin to post about what they're getting this year -- not the same as in the past, the chocolate appears to have been reduced quite a bit, although I am wondering (translation: hoping) if the lack of "better" candy is maybe because of hot weather? (see Posts 17 and 18).

thats what i was thinking... looks like what DD would get going door to door. not every one gives out candybars.

and at disney you can go to each line over and over and door to door you can't LOL... :)

i am sure we will have a wonderful time .

Our experience with any chocolate given to us was that it ended up being a melted blob by the time we got back to our room that night. It was so hot out that night!

We didn't get much chocolate, but we ate most of it while waiting for the parade! :dance3:

That was my experience last year also. Though it rained the chocolate wasn't holding up too well. Back at our room we ended up with a few pieces, but we ate the rest while waiting the rain out. I would have loved more chocolate, but I was at Disney! Chocolate was a little thing, which didn't ruin my trip.

Any reports of larger candy being handed out as you are exiting the park? Last year we got Ghiradelli Carmel bars at the exit. Also, last year I was so sick of getting tootsie rolls, now and laters and lolly pops I started asking the cm's for some chocolate which they were more than happy to give us.
