MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

We'll be going to our first MNSSHP on Thursday night, Oct. 8

I had a few questions for anybody who has already been to party this year.

1. My favorite character is Brer Rabbit and I heard he and Brer Bear do a
character greeting at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I did not see that
listed on the 2009 MNSSHP map. Does anybody know if he is there this
year?

2. Does the Headless Horseman ride before both parades? I have heard the
last parade is crowded but we don't want to miss the headless Horseman.

3. Do the villains come down for pictures after the last Villains mix & mingle?
We don't want to miss getting our picture with them!

For those who may have an interest, here's a link about what treats people have gotten at MNNSHP. On the second page, people begin to post about what they're getting this year -- not the same as in the past, the chocolate appears to have been reduced quite a bit, although I am wondering (translation: hoping) if the lack of "better" candy is maybe because of hot weather? (see Posts 17 and 18).

Thanks for posting, we don't get many of those here in the UK so my girls will love it :thumbsup2 Well they're not going to the party with me, or even Florida, but I'll take it home to them :rotfl2:

We went Friday night, September 11th. It was my first first MNSSHP and I really wasn't disappointed in the least! We all got a good amount of candy, although that was not our primary desire. Characters and rides were the big thing for us. I went with 4 friends and we dressed like the Mickey Mouse Club - white shirts with names on them, black shorts or capris. Wanted to be comfortable. We did see a lot of imaginative costumes - one group was dressed like Sorcerer Mickey and the brooms and another mom and two kids were dressed like Phineas, Ferb and Perry the Platypus. We knew that some of the characters were going to have a longer line, so we staked out Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. Apparently, the previous weekend, they appeared together, however, this particular party, Snow White and Dopey would be together, then the 7 dwarves would come out. We got some great shots with the 7 dwarves....it was a lot of fun! I went to see Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, and they spent a lot of time with everyone, which was fun, but there were people getting grumpy in like because of it...or perhaps because there were two of us adults getting pics and autographs with no children around, I don't know. We rode a bunch of rides, got pictures at the carriage and with the hearse in front of Haunted Mansion and also got a picture with some hitchhiking ghosts.

We also did the dessert party as a surprise to our friends and that was absolutely wonderful! LARGE selection of desserts and a great vantage point for Hallowishes. There was also a photopass photog there as well.

We watched the second parade from right outside Casey's and I can't say that it was crowded. Certainly no large crowd by us. Great viewing area and we got a lot of pictures.

Candy-wise, I have to say that we got a lot of suckers, now and laters and assorted odds and ends. We did get some chocolate, but not a great amount. It was however, a blast...and we were amazed at how people were so single minded in their candy hunt, they didn't even notice that the Mad Hatter was standing off to the side in the candy trail, with no one around him! We went to take pictures with him and he was great. I'd definitely do this again...in fact, hoping to take the kids to it next year. :goodvibes

DS and I really want to PARTY , but our holiday is planned to end on 1st Sept 2010
For those who have attended over the past few years, do you know when the 1st MNSSHP is usually held each year.
I could try and extend our holiday by a few days, if I thought we could attend the Party, although we run the risk of DS missing start of school if we go beyond 6th Sept

First parties for the past 3 years:

MNSSHP 2007 = Sept 14

MNSSHP 2008 = Sept 5

MNSSHP 2009 = Sept 4

Snow White with Dopey were alternating with the other dwarves at the last party? Ugh. I find this disappointing. I hope that is not the case on the 25th. I'm going as Snow White and DH is Grumpy, and I was really hoping to get our pic with all the dwarves and Snow White. :(

the headless horseman is at the later parade also, i saw him last year. We got to our main st. viewing spot a little before the parade start time and it seemed to take forever to wait and it seemed like we got there tooo early. i guess it starts in frontierland and so it takes awhile after the actual start time to get to main street... but does anyone know at what time the parade starts at main street because this year i'd like to get there 5 min before it actually starts but i forget what time exactly that was. :)

HI, i too had a scooter girl last year, we had her dress in black shorts or capris (I can't remember which, now) and had found a captain black tee shirt, and a few other tee shirts with skulls etc on them that worked out perfect. It is cheap and easy and comfortable! That would go with her face painting really well, especially if you decorate her cart! By the way my scooter girl was my 9 mos pregnant daughter who had swollen ankles, knees, and was miserable. She ended up having a blast, we just had to keep her in snacks and water. See what you can pick up for her that isn't really a costume, but gets into the spirit of things. even black shorts and shirt with a red waist tye would work. there are even pirate socks out there at target and walmart! Have fun, post pictures! Tricia

Well, i didn't' find the costume I wanted so I'm not getting one. I will wear a pair of black pants and a Halloween shirt. I just saw them at walmart for $5.00. I might buy a pirates of the Caribbean shirt just not sure yet.
Mom will be dressed like me. She says "she wouldn't be the only idiot, she'd have a twin." she's lucky I love her or that would make me mad LOL

Thank you for the updated information, nutz4disney. We will be at the pirate's league on 10/2 also, and attending the party that evening. When we went out looking for costumes though they were pretty expensive. For that much $$ I might just wait to get the costumes at the pirate's league. Look for a family of four pirates and one very little princess there!

This is what Zach's gonna be with the "white" pirate skeleton face from Pirate League. http://www.halloweenexpress.com/buccaneer-bones-pirate-child-costume-p-4100.html

me, I'm going as "black pants, PoC shirt or just a walmart Halloween. Mom will wear what I do and a light-up scooter LOL

Can you tell me what time SW and Dopey came out? Right at 7? How long until the dwarfs came out? What is the best line strategy? We were planning on getting in SW and dwarfs line before 7. Guess this may not work.....:confused3

Well, I for one would be VERY disappointed if this is the case. You can see Snow and Dopey any day in Epcot. I bought tickets and planned our entire trip when I saw someone's pictures from last year with Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs. I made a special gown for my daughter and an Evil Queen costume for myself. It really does seem like the party is seeming less and less special all the time......... :sad2:

Sorry if this was answered already, but are there characters at the candy locations? If so, do you have to wait in the candy line to see them or are they in separate lines? We're not planning on trick-or-treating, but we don't want to miss any characters.

They are separate lines. Characters do not give out candy.

Can anyone tell me how the Will Call works for party tickets? I just purchased them online and opted for Will Call. Can I really just pick them up at any ticket sale location?

For instance, the night before we'll be at DHS, can we pick them up on our way out of that park, or does it have to be at MK?

I am thinking, too, that the CM told me on the phone that I could pick them up at my resort....
