MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

I remember seeing a list of rides that will be open during the MNSSHP, but what about a list of rides that WONT be open. Thinking that if I had a list of those rides, we could try to fit them in sometime between 4 -5? Can anyone help compile a list? Thanks.

I really can't remember what was closed.. other than swiss family treehouse and maybe carousel of progress?? All of the major attractions will be open, if there is anything that would be closed it would be less popular attractions or attractions that have virtually no lines on crowded days.

does anyone know the amount of tickets they will sell? how does it compare with the normal amount? Do they sell like 50% capacity, 30% etc.? It'd be an interesting fact to know. popcorn::

well, ok, here's a few more...

While I haven't seen the actual PARTY DATES for this year, I'd recommend getting your tickets online (if you haven't already) - it just saves the headache. Also, Halloween night will be the most crowded, so I'd go as far away from that actual night as possible. In '07, we went on Nov 2nd, which was the last night of the party. Of course, the tix ended up selling out (which is another good reason to buy in advance), but the crowds were still manageable.

Also, take your time when you're there! Take in all the costumes. Let the kids have fun at one of the dance areas. Sit and enjoy some of the candy while you wait for the parade. Take in the halloween scenery in all the areas (especially Main Street USA - way cool) It's a PARTY after all! It certainly was a great part of that trip for us!

I'll post some pix of the '07 event when I get more time today...

We decided to go to MNSSHP. I was able to snag 6:00pm res for Crystal Palace...and I thought that was pretty good. I am now concerned now that the res. is too late. I have checked several times a day and there is NO availability in any other sit down rest. in MK that night. (we are doing during Free Dining). Do you think this is ok or should I cancel it and continue trying for something else.

I thought CP becuase it is me, DH and DD (3).and she loves Pooh.

I would suggest having a late lunch someplace nice, then using a counter service the night of the party in MK for a light dinner. Just my opinion...

Love the Halloween tote bag from The Disney Store. I really wanted one for MNSSHP but my closest Disney Store is over two hours away. I checked eBay and found one on there for $5.00. It was worth it to me to pay a little extra to get one. :) I have the one they sold at the parks last year and love it, too. :)

I know that the Liberty Riverboat and Tom Sawyer island are not open during the party -- and those are the two things we want our Aunt to see. So we're heading there between 4 and 6 p.m. Also the Jungle Boat Cruise (want to see it in the day time) and the Swiss Family Treehouse. Also want to ride the train during the daytime to see the different scenes.

I asked a CM this the other day and her comment was "Disney never reveals the totals". However, I finally got her to put it in a "for instance" mode and she answered yes when I asked "is it like 1/3 of what a normal attendance would be". Her "for instance" was if a normal day is 10,000, the party attendance would be 2,000-3,000, etc.

Before parties, I always eat a sit down meal at MK somewhere between 5:00p and 6:00p. Usually at 5:00p.

If that is all you can get and you do want to eat a nice sit down meal then I say go for it. CP is a pretty quick meal. You should be done by 7:15p at the latest.

I'm not a fan of counter service during the party. So the only other option would be a late lunch or keeping the dinner ADR.

Good luck.

I have a quick question about tickets (that I'm sure about a billion have asked, I just can't seem to find them)

We are looking at coming in October, (8-13). The day we are planning on going to MK is the 9th and MNSSHP is on that day. Do we need to buy a separate ticket for it if we book our dates? If we don't buy a MNSSHP do we get kicked out of the park when they start the party or are we just not allowed to go to different areas in the park?

I'm thinking about buying the tickets anyway, it seems like a lot of fun and I love trick-or-treating, even at 21 XD

Yes, it requires a separate ticket. It occurs after the park officially closes for the day.

When you enter for the party, they will put a wristband on you. Those not atteding will be kicked out.

I don't know if anyone else has posted this yet, but we just found a great deal at the Disney store in Hershey, PA. They had a bunch of tote bags on sale for $2.50 a piece, including super cute halloween ones! They are nice a big so can fit TONS of candy! :mickeyjum

I just bought these the other day!! I bought them for the kids....but now I think I may have to go back & get the adults some too. I loved the bags! They have Mickey & the gang dressed up & trick-or-treating. Awesome for $2.50 a piece!! They are really wide (didn't open them in the store, so I was pleasantly surprised!) and made of fabric. Got them at a Disney Store on Long Island - they had others that were non-Halloween too.

We'll be at MNSSHP Oct 1 (my bday:woohoo:). Staying at POR! :)

I think that might be ok, since CP is right in the MK. Get to the party at 4:00 and do a few things, go to your ADR and you should be done just as the party is starting :thumbsup2

We are going to MNSSHP for the first time on the 22nd October.

Do we need to bring our own bags to collect the candy or are the provided?

Thanks

Okay.....who's the diser who is going to volunteer to go to their Disney store for us diser's who no longer have them to get the Halloween bags?????
