MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

Hi,

We are going to the party (for the 1st time) on November 1st (me, dh, & ds-11). We plan on getting there at 4 & grabbing some quick CS sometime before the party starts, and riding a couple of rides. My ds wants to do the trick or treating, and I want to see the parade and Hallowishes. Knowing my dh, he will poop out early, although I am going to try and keep him there until 11, if possible. We would like to get at least the haunted mansion in during the party, if possible, and visit the ghost telling stories. We may want to stop in for a quick look at the party in Tomorrowland, as well. We don't need to do any character greetings, although we plan on doing the Alice trick or treat, so we may take a quick picture if they are there. Do you think we can fit in the Villian's show (just the show not the greetings)? Can we do all of this and get in the first parade? I am thinking it may be too crowded that last night for all of this and we may have to do the 2nd parade? :confused3 I thought we may be able to get the toothbrush in tomorrowland also, but since they run out so quickly, I don't know if we can make it there in time. Should we just skip that and not worry about it? I would just rather know now than have to change plans midstream and have to backtrack around the park.

Any dashing of plans, help, &/or encouragement is appreciated. Thanks! :upsidedow

LOVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!the party on the 8th! It was hot but I did NOT care! I am from Chicago and we barely got a summer this year. I did have the kids change from Giselle the gown to HSM cheer leader and Nemo(fluffy&stuffed) to a pirate so they wouldn't be dying. We had a blast but I was annoyed I had to pay $31.00 total for a stroller. We didn't bring ours thinking it would be free. Oh well, should have researched or paid better attention here!

We walked on everything and even walked onto the rides that close at 7 like Jungle boat. Did second parade and saw Hallowishes from the area right by Dumbo.
I love that party!!!!!!!!! It was so worth it to me.

I was thinking of doing that, but I think I am going to cancel my tour regardless, and play it by ear on my arrival day. If I am not too tired and think I'll make it to midnight, I'll go t mnsshp. If I am tired, I'll go to epcot for the festival.

What I want to accomplish at the party...

Parade and fireworks
shows
dance parties
characters
some rides (the ones that will seem different at night)
candy if I have time, but not a priority)

hmmmm... It looks lime I want it all... Maybe two parties is a good idea.

I am a very social person and I've never met a stranger. That is one of the best things about traveling solo. I can talk to new people without annoying kids and hubby! I love offering to take family photos for people! I also love people watching. The thought of being able to see the parade and fireworks twice is also very appealing.

Well, I gotta tell ya, I'm a people person, too, and I'd do the party again in a heartbeat. I also like to do the parks solo . . . didn't have the chance this last trip, but the party would have been be a riot solo (it was wonderful with hubby, too, of course)!

Remember there are two parades per night, so if you plan right, you can do four of them! If you hit rain, the odds of having at least one parade dry will be good.

Yes, you're right. Go for them both. With all you'd like to accomplish, you'll be grateful for the extra night. Many people have posted that they wish they'd had more time.

PLEASE COME BACK HERE and let us know how it went! Private email me so I'll know to look for it (I don't always remember everyone's names), just remind me that your the solo two-nighter, and I'll remember in a flash.

Have a great time, and . . .

BOO! :scared1:

PS: I wish I was going to be there! You sound like an awesome person; it would be fun to say hello. Have a ball.

PS: We did the party on our arrival day. Many people warned us not to do it because we were up at 4AM to get our flight. However, I really wanted to go that night, so I trusted my gut and my heart. My gut and heart never let me down.

IT WAS WONDERFUL! We were so wired and excited, there was no way we would have been able to sleep or rest that first night. Remarkably, I was up fairly early the next morning, too . . . although by the day after that, I really needed to sleep in . . . and I did.

It is just so special to see the MK on your first night there. I always cry when I see the castle. Seeing it for the first time with a Halloween glow made it unique and a lot of fun.

Okay, I'll quit blabbing! I cannot shut-up because I am so very excited for you!

We watched the fireworks in that area that same night. I had never seen them from that side of the castle before and it was awesome how it was all around us instead of just in front of us. Total new perspective

Me and 2 DS went last Thursday and had such a great time I got tickets for the 29th but seeing if I can exchange for the 31st
Unfortunately the 31st is sold out! We have a grand gathering (party of 25) and about a week ago one of my DHs cousins called and said he wants to bring his GF! We found tickets on ebay but they were outrageously priced...so I am pretty sure unless you can pull some serious strings you will not be able to exchange your tix!!

I was there on Oct. 6th also. It was very crowded compared to last year when we went on a Tuesday about a week after Labour Day in September.

I found it very crowded. Last year we watched the first parade from Frontierland and arrived about 20 min before the parade started-just before the headless horseman. This year we didn't attempt the first parade because of the crowds. We arrived in Frontierland more than 20 min before the second parade and it was already crowded. We had to stand behind other people.

We did get more candy this year. Not much chocolate. Also had trouble finding Photopass photographers-none in the building that had Jane and the other Jungle characters. They had them last year in that building.

Was it sold out last year, do you (or does anyone) know? It has probably already been posted here, but I don't remember. :)

We went on the 6th also and had a blast, but I agree with others who said they felt like there wasn't enough time for everything. We returned on the 9th and were surprised by how much lower the Friday crowds seemed than Tuesday's (the 6th)!

Here's some video we just uploaded from those two evenings.

Hope you enjoy it!

Awesome pics! I have to ask... were the stormtroopers and darth vader there, or were they just partygoers?! That's too cool!!

Is there a post anywhere for people who have extra tickets? My mil broke her foot so we have one extra for the 31st. We would just want the ticket price.

Maybe you two can hook up somehow? That would be awesome!!! Gotta love the DIS!! :goodvibes

My DH and I went to MNSSHP on October 8. Since then, I've developed an addiction to Sassy Sours, the "other brand" of Smarties. We counted over 100 of them between us.

The addiction has gotten so bad that I just had to send my DH to the store to buy more. I completely blame Disney!!!

hey everyone I am so uber excited..less than week til we head to the party:cool1: here is my question...is it worth it to do the photopass thingie for the party? We are sort of a budget and I just wondered if it was really something that was worth the $$$

I think it worth it since just getting the MNSSHP Photopass card and photos taken is free. Then if you decide you want to buy any prints, from the convenience of your home, you can order the prints for 40% off. No harm, no foul. :)

THere are a couple of really cool photos like the hitchhiker photo or the hearse photo.

Have fun.

My family and I are attending the party on November 1st and can't wait. Is this the first year they hold the party after Halloween? If not, does anyone know how the crowds will be since its the day after? Also, I'm a newbie and if anyone has any tips for me, DH and DD (8) we would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!!! :dance3:

No, it's not the first time...

They've had two other parties after Halloween before this year.

In 2007, which sold out and one in 2002 which did not sell out.
They were both Friday nights.

This year's party is on a Sunday night so it's really hard to predict the crowd level as compared to the last two.
