MNSSHP-Tips, Tricks, Secrets newbies should know (from the 2009 party!)

It's the Disney World Event music CD and it's pricey....but of course I bought it!!!!!! $24.99

It's Magic Kingdom Event Party Music (just in case PP was trying to look it up online). It has P&PP, MNSSHP and a few other odds and ends. Fun CD! We're piping the MNSSHP in our front yard on Halloween. :thumbsup2

We just got back and did the party on the 13th. It was a great time and we would do it again in a heartbeat! A few notes:

1) We got to Toontown at about 6:40 to line up for Mickey. The CM's were not especially helpful but we finally found one. He showed us where to stand (a pumpkin sign in the backyard). A line formed behind us and then the sky opened up. It poured BUCKETS but we didn't want to lose our spot as first in line. The line did decide to scoot back under the tree which helped. Well, they decided to move it into the judge's tent and the people that sought shelter there tried to be first. We stod up for ourselves (ratherly nicely) and got to be first again, but the other families got lost in the shuffle and ended up #4, 6, and 10. We tried to get people to let them in, but they wouldn't. I felt bad for them since they also got soaked to hold their position and then lost it. On the plus side, Mickey and Minnie were together in there so we were done with them both by 7:05!

2) Our plan was to see Alice and her friends but due to the rain they weren't out. We rode rides for a while instead. The rain stopped around 8:00.

3) It was a lot more crowded than I was expecting. It wasn't bad mind you, but we had read about riding Thunder again and again. When we were back there around 11:00, there was a 20 minute wait.

4) The parade was awesome! We watched in in Frontierland and loved it. We saw the second one since we assumed there would be no Headless Horseman in the first due to the wet streets. I am not sure if we were right, but that was the assumption. Again, we did not see the emptiness before parade time. Both sides were filled 3 deep 10-15 minutes ahead of time. We were down towards Splash Mt.

5) They are out of a lot of pins. They confirmed that they are selling them until they are out and not releasing a certain number each night. There is no merchandise in Tommorrowland like it says on the map. They sent us to the pin store on Main St for "all remaining merchandise.... if there is anything left." My DH got the spiderweb Mickey Head pin and I got the very last Tink pin. They took it off the board. They had the Chip and Dale pin, the AP pin, that spider Mickey pin, and the Stitch pin. So, with only 3 general public pins left, I doubt they will have anything left for that last week of parties. This was hugely disappointing.

We had a great time trick or treating and taking in the decorations. We didn't let the rain stop us too much and had a great time!

we just did the party the 8th and the 15th:cool1: they where great. The parades where very Busy,we did have to find a seat about 45 min In advance but thats ok since we like to people watch, but If you are a last minute parade goer your probaly not going to find a place to sit and watch IT we actually did that exact thing on the frist parade we where stuck In the back and that was over In front of the castel. We try gto catch the villian show right before the parade. We where stuck ,It was fun but next time we where going to line up earlyer. The frist night(the 8th) the crowds where lower and getting the treats where easyer to get but the 16th wow ther lines where more back up.The partys are well worth It and have a blast.

No, it's not the first time...

They've had two other parties after Halloween before this year.

In 2007, which sold out and one in 2002 which did not sell out.
They were both Friday nights.

This year's party is on a Sunday night so it's really hard to predict the crowd level as compared to the last two.

We were at the Fri night Nov 2 party in 2007 and had a great time-- I wouldn't have thought it was sold out, because we never had any trouble with lines and got to do everything we wanted.

Huge nerds! BUT we're fun!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

We did it last year, and we heard people all over the neighborhood talking about the house with the music. It seemed to be a big hit! I also carved pumpkin-head Mickey's into our pumpkins with a Dremel. We plan to do a repeat of it all this year!

We were also at the party on the 13th and had a great time, even with the rain.

We did get to see Alice! She was standing at the entrance to the Alice and Mad Hatter Treat Party...probably around 10:00. She was great! She seemed to be taking extra time with each child to make it more memorable.

I don't know about pins, but I did buy some Halloween merchandise at The Merchants of Venus in Tomorrowland.

The parade and fireworks were the best! We bought the CD of the music. My little boy LOVES it!

My family came home with a little over ten pounds of candy...a good variety including chocolate.

I would definately go again! Hopefully without the rain! :)

I hope I'm allowed to post this..but I have an extra ticket for the 31st. My MIL broke her foot and is unable to attend. I believe the ticket was only $68. I would just like to cover the cost of it...nothing more. PM me in you are interested.

:confused3 If I'm not allowed to post this..please let me know so that I can remove it!

Awesome pics! I have to ask... were the stormtroopers and darth vader there, or were they just partygoers?! That's too cool!!

Hi Mrs. Charming, thanks! The stormtroopers and Darth Vader were just partygoers. There were a lot of amazing costumes there. We had so much fun people-watching! :thumbsup2

My DH and I went to MNSSHP on October 8. Since then, I've developed an addiction to Sassy Sours, the "other brand" of Smarties. We counted over 100 of them between us.

The addiction has gotten so bad that I just had to send my DH to the store to buy more. I completely blame Disney!!!
We were there on the 8th, too! Had a blast! We also ended up with tons of those sassy sours. :rotfl: I think they made up about 75% of our candy! Good thing I like them. ;)

Not much chocolate, though. :sad1: My bag was half full of sassy sours, tootsie rolls, Now&Laters and suckers, and exactly one fun size Kit Kat. dd6 did a little better, with 3 or 4 fun size bags of m&m's and a couple of bite size chocolate bars. There were also a few of these little candies (can't recall the name) that were like the inside of a Butterfinger, but no chocolate. I never saw those before, but decided I liked them!

I'm trying to make sure I don't forget to do the more secret stuff that isnt on the map.

Haunted Mansion ghost kind of show by the graveyard

Be at the parade 15 minutes early to see the headless horseman

Where is it where we pose and ghosts will appear on our photopass picture?

Is there anything else I am forgetting?

We're taking it to our friends house and making them play it for their Halloween Party! :lmao:

We did last night's party. The candy is terrible!

We went 2 years ago. DH and I both filled our bags to the top--most of it was name brand and nearly half was chocolate.

This year, we barely had a full bag between the two of us despite concerted efforts at trick or treating.

When I inspected our "take" back at our resort, it was so bad it was funny. We counted--we had 56 rolls of off-brand Smarties! Along with that there were a ton of Tootsie rolls, some Laffy Taffy, some off-brand taffy candies, many Now and Laters, and a couple dozen generic suckers.

We had 2 fun size Snickers and 3 fun size M&Ms. Total. Between the two of us.

How cheap can you get? Especially charging $50+ per person!

As for the rest of the party it was fine. Crowds seemed thick--20 minute waits on the headliners, 10 minutes or under on the rest. Long lines for candy, but they moved pretty quickly. The parade and fireworks were fine, and the Cha-Cha Slide was well represented at the dance parties. I saw plenty of characters out and aggressive checking of wristbands, which I heartily support.

It all must depend on what night you go, because we're still eating Snickers, and we went on September 29/October 1. Someone said the warm weather may cut down on the amount of chocolate. But don't M&Ms only melt in your mouth? :rotfl: Sorry you didn't get much chocolate. :headache:

DH and I attended this years MNSSHP on the Friday before Labor Day this year. We loved it. I can't wait to go back and take my kids. (Adults only trip for 15th Anniversary in Sept)
We want to go over Labor Day week next year as well. My question, Does the MNSSHP always start the Friday before Labor Day? We would be there the next year from the Saturday before Labor Day until the next Saturday. Would we be able to attend a Halloween Party?
Thanks.
