Just wondering what there is to do if it rains on our scheduled MNSSHP night. I assume, no parade or fireworks in the rain?

I like to know in advance so i can have a plan. Has anyone experienced this first hand?

The fireworks can still go off in the rain, depending on the exact conditions. The parade, however, and especially the Headless Horseman, can often be cancelled or at least postponed due to the slippery surface unfortunately. If you're not going to one of the last parties, which typically sell out, you could wait until the day of to see the weather then buy tickets.

If the parade or fireworks are cancelled, I understand there are a couple of rides in the area that would help kill the time. ;)

I was there a few years ago at a night when it rained so much it was considered a "rain out" - they handed out some paper when we left saying we could use our tickets for a one day park ticket at the MK any time in the next year. That is what we eventually did with them as we needed a one day ticket the next year before a cruise. Some people may have been able to swap them for another MNSSHP ticket or use them to upgrade to a multi-day ticket but I'm not sure that Disney will do that.

Make sure to save your entry tickets in case of a rain out.

As for the party that was rained out - actually I think they did get the fireworks off in a brief slow down of the rain. I think some of the outdoor rides were shut down (like BTMRR) - perhaps due to lightening? I can't quite remember. We waited for the parade but it was getting close to midnight and the kids couldn't take anymore so we left but they may have actually gotten the parade off very, very late.

It was wet, soggy, etc. but we still had a good time (candy got almost too soaked to eat!) and we got a ticket for next year. Obviously if you don't plan on going back the future ticket won't work so well. I have no idea if they would let you exchange the ticket for another ticket in the same week (we left on a cruise the next day so not an option we looked into).

Party the next year - no rain! :thumbsup2

A plain admission ticket has relatively little value (like $5.) unless you have a very short trip planned later. Try to press for something else, such as re-use of the ticket at the next party, or lots of extra fastpasses for your next park visit.

Another advantage of not buying party tickets until the day-of is that if the date is sold out then you know in advance that it is going to be crowded inside.
