Mnsshp 2006-tips Only

Hi!

I was wondering if the Disney characters (meet & greet) wear the same costumes year after year. I know that i've been searching for pictures and I can only find pictures of Minnie wearing some kind of witch outfit (orange and black). Anyone has attended the MNSSHP through the years and can answer my question? Thanks alot !!!!!!

Unfortunately I can't go before October 30th so I'll be trying for the 30th. I'd prefer to go the 31st but I'm afraid to chance it. I went 9 years ago and advance tickets were available back then for actual Halloween (had my wallet stolen that day at Epcot and had to beg to get in to the party since my advance tickets were in the wallet!!!).

Does anyone know where they sell the tickets on the day of the party? More importantly, when they start selling them?!!

Thanks

While my Mom saved us a place for the parade across from Country Bear Jamboree(for some reason,it really wasn't that crowded but had it been, she would not have saved it. Wouldn't have been fair to others) we took our 2 and 3 year old sons to see the show. By the time it let out, the parade was about to start. Worked out great because it would have been hard keeping them still for that amount of time.

Last year, the parade started by the firehouse on Main Street. But I've only been to one MNSSHP, so I don't know if that's the usual.

Subscribing. I'd like an answer to this too since I am also planning on going on the 30th.

Also, what are the park hours?

You can buy all night's tickets NOW. Its just that the last 3 nights do not offer the 'advance purchase price' so you would have to pay day of prices (full price) for those 3 nights...but they are available to buy now over the phone, online or in person.

No need to wait to buy, unless you want to!

Aha!!!
Thanks! I was so confused by that.

Thanks for the tips everyone!

I have also heard on another forum about the possiblity of photopass being 50% off that night and no free pic. Guess we'll have to wait & see.

This will be our first time attending, and we are also going on the 1st night (9/15).

We don't plan on riding a ton, except for HM for sure and perhaps the TTA as recommended by another DISer to see some of the festivities from above. We plan on trying to get a good spot for the parade, possibly near HoP, anyone care to comment on whether or not that is a good location? If we want to, we'll watch the later one too.

We also don't plan on having DS gather much candy since (a) it will be hot (b) he doesn't eat much of his Halloween candy anyway & (c) we'll be spending our last day in Epcot while our bags sit in our rental car so it would probably melt (because of reason a)!!! He will probably get some but we aren't going to spend lots of time doing that.

DS is looking forward to the dance party and the parade/fireworks plus seeing the characters in costume.

We are getting in that morning at 10am, and are hoping & hoping that our room at the GF will be ready early so we can catch a snooze in the afternoon. We changed our ADRs so we are now eating at the Plaza for a late lunch (4:45pm) since we didn't want to eat a really heavy dinner.

Also, this thread here on the DIS has other DISers listed and the nights they are attending. Post your info & maybe you can have a mini-meet!

I read somewhere else that they will start letting you in the gates around 4:30 for this event. Something about it creates too much traffic to let everyone in at the same time and let the other guest leave, so it is kinda like the trickle effect. Any truth to this? We will only be going to MNSSHP that day so if we could get in earlier, that would be great.

Last year was our first MNSSHP and we had a great time.

On the nights of MNSSHP that we didn't have tickets, we enjoyed people watching on Main Street by the fire station before the park closed. It was so fun seeing everyone's costumes!

scrappingmom, was it the sheer long sleeved Tink? That is what my DD is wearing this year and I was afraid of this. And she is a bit whiney if she get the least bit uncomfortable.

we're dressing my 2 year old daughter as tink, too. I have 2 costumes (both hand-me-downs) and she finds them very itchy. I think what I am going to do is get her a tink t-shirt, makes a little green tink-like skirt, and have her wear the wings. we'll do her hair up in a ponytail like tink instead of the crown (she would never wear the crown for more than a minute anyway). she loves the wings, and they are small enough they don't seem to get in the way at all. It won't be perfect, but I think she'll be more comfortable. now I'm just deciding on whether to buy her ballet slippers or if her white sandals will be good enough to do.

Can someone please explain to me the "dance parties" that are usually at Ariel's Grotto and Cosmic Ray's?? This is an all adult trip, but we LOVE meeting the characters! Are the dance parties something that adults can take part in as well, or are they geared more toward younger children??

Also can anyone give any tips about some areas where we have a good chance of seeing some rare characters??

We will be there Sept. 22! Can't wait!!

I still have not decieded on costumes!! Just to let you all know my son was dying of the heat last year on the 31st. I won't make that mistake again.

Honestly, I would have arranged my whole trip differently if I'd thought about how helpful the advance MNSSHP info was going to be for us fellow first-timers! Our plane leaves at 9 am on 9/16 and we're attending on 9/22. Without a 'puter, I won't get to obsessively itinerary plan for our party. :rotfl:

Thanks for the tips so far!

Hmmm...I was thinking about Trick or Treat bags. Instead of using the ones they give out at the park (save for something special) go to Walmart arts and craft area, buy a canvas bag or two with handles and decorate like crazy! This way you don't have to worry about the plastic breaking and the kids can have fun making their own special bag!

My addition to this - line the top of the bag with double stick velcro or sew it in. Just make sure the bag closes a bit in case a handle gets loose or the bag gets dropped - or worse - lets candy loose on a ride! pirate:

My #1 tip - make your own t-shirt. DH would never wear a costume. T-shorts are cheap and iron-ons are easy to print. I used Photoshop to make 2 unique shirt designs. I can wear the t-shirt many days of the yr. and I was not HOT!!!
