MNSSHP 2006, Ready to start planning!

I'm 99% sure that LTT is NOT sold out but that later times are being held for those attending the party; for when they buy their tickets because many have reported not being able to get anything past 4:30p. I find it really hard to believe that they are sold out through 9:30p (when they close party nights)...I haven't heard of one person getting anything past 4:30p.

Hi beattyfamily - not real sure where I eluded to it being sold out - my suggestion was only meant for those wanting to secure an early time. As I said, I wanted a 4:00 time and was only able to get 4:30. I'm sure you are right that they may hold reservations for later times, but why anyone would want to spend precious MNSSHP time in a restaurant instead of out enjoying the party is beyond me. ;) Also, FYI, I'm not a newbie here just starting over with a new screen name.

the 26th! I think that will be better than Friday night - well hoping anyway. Tomorrow is 180 from check in - and I am making those reservations today so I will hopefully be able to make all ADR's! :)

Not sure where you are staying, but remember that if you are on property that you have the 180 + 10 days. So you can make your reservations at the 180 day mark from check-in through 10 days of stay. I love this as it helped me secure the dreaded CRT breakfast reservations! :thumbsup2

I'll be at the 26th party as well and we did the Castle before MVMCP last year (5:30p ADR) and it was GREAT exiting right in Fantasyland around 6:45P...my girls rode Dumbo and the Carousel ALONE because it was still closed but the CMs were already at the rides.

You might not have luck getting CRT 180 from check in but should be able to get it 180 from the day you want the ADR. Either way, good luck, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I got a CRT for 5:10pm for the 23 October. The last ADR time available, was 5:45pm (as it's dinner hours that night are 4 - 6) Glad to hear that it worked out great for you beattyfamily. I've always wanted to eat at CRT's so I thought that would be an excellent night to try, especially if we are all in the party mood! We did MNSSHP a couple of years ago, and we missed so much.

Where did I say you were a newbie? :confused3 You quoted me first so I decided to reply to you, and to everyone in general, with my opinion.

You said LTT was going so quickly and I wanted others to know that although the early times may be gone, I believe the later times are being held till May 1. I'm giving info just as you are.

I like eating during the hour the park is 'closed'. YMMV.

I also prefer to eat while the park is closed. I think 5:45 is the perfect dinner time for MNSSHP. There are so few attractions open during the 6:00-7:00 hour anyway, and we like to use the time between getting in and dinner to do the few attractions that are not open during the party, like Jungle Cruise. This year we'll also *have* to take my DD to Pooh's Playground, since it won't be open during the party. Now that she knows it's there she won't let us get away with skipping it, LOL. :teeth:

For those who are shuffled to the land between 6 and 7pm, are the rides open while you wait?

Is it really crowded during that time? We are planning to get to MK after a late lunch at WCC. Around 4pm. Our plan is to enjoy the rides til' official beginning of MNSSHP and then concentrate on the trick or treating, character meet n greets etc.

nluvwithmickey,
Our plan is similar to yours. We're going to have a big lunch and a light meal around 4ish and then get stuck in to enjoying the rides and wait for the party to kick off. I was thinking all along that I didn't want to waste time in a restaurant while the rides would be relatively quiet but now I'm not so sure that's accurate - confused all over again. Story of my life! :teeth:

Last year AP discounts were 25% off the gate price, this year the web sites are saying there is a 10% discount and it comes to 35.10. I'm not even sure what that is 10% off of.

Pooh's Playground? I must've missed that one. Where is it? We'll have a one year old with us in October (party the 17th) and that sounds like fun.

This is our first party, and our ressies are for 4:30 b/c we want to be ready to be herded at 6 p.m. My friend said that they were able to ride Space Mountain over and over again while waiting until the party started. We'll probably have a light lunch since we eat dinner so early. It's great that we have the choice of a early meal or a late one, while the party is going on or not.

It just opened last fall, across from Pooh's ride in Fantasyland. It's nice for the under 5 crowd, but nothing spectacular. Well, I don't think it's spectacular, but then I'm over age 5, LOL, my 3 year old LOVES it. There's a tree they can walk through and sit inside, some logs to crawl through, a slide, and a small area with pop jet fountains.

Just checked the Dis web site and they show operating hours as 9-9 and they do show the MNSSHP on the calendar now.

I'm wondering if they had to cancel a lot or ADRs for that night. I have to convince the DW to go and then make our ADRs this weekend.

That's why I didn't know about it, b/c we were last there in May of 2004. The other children will be too old, but the one year will at least have something to do on her age level. Thanks!

Because of the September dates I get to go. I am so excited. I went last year with dd and girlfriend. I am going to get to take my husband this year. We will be there opening night and I promise to report back.

Hi Deb: I wouldn't worry about being confused, I think you are fine. As we are both TGM members and we know his advice for MNSSHP and ADR's it looks like we are on the same page. I'll see you on the TGM Forums!

Yes, it's good to have choices. Too many choices and my head hurts though.
:teeth: I like what your friend said!!! I'm hoping for something similar, although we'll be going on a very busy night (either 30th or 31st! Yikes!).

Thanks! :) I like his advice a lot! It's already making this trip easier, just by cutting out so many decisions (which park? what day? what time? etc). I'm really enjoying reading his articles and his MNSSHP advice sounds great! :)

I remember seeing a big sign at the gates to MK stating absolutely no scary masks, blood, gore, knives....
I wouldn't bring kids under 4 because they might not be used to being up late...Also, it's not Horror - When we go to Halloween Horror Nights, my kids stayed in the Neverland Kids Club.

Thanks! The haunted mansion really does my DD4-almost-5 in and I would hate to traumatize her any further. (Yes! I was one of those bad moms who got talked into taking a child as far as the elevator - *twice* - before we scooted out a secret exit).

What are Halloween Horror Nights?

And what tips do people have for getting kids to rest during the day of the party? Do you completely avoid the parks?

Just booked POFQ for 9/24 - 10/1! We'll be attending the party on 9/29! Can't wait. It will be our first. We attended MVMCP a few years ago and loved it. I hope we like this one just as much!

Boy, do I have alot of reading to do here! You guys certainly have been busy planning for this party already!

I was able to get Crystal Palace dinner reservation for 3:50 that day! Very excited!!!

Well, I called Dining and I tried to make ressies for 10/5 at LTT but there is NOTHING!! So I made them for the next day 10/6 at 4:10. I can't believe it...Between work during the day and school at night I can't think straight. I really didn't want to go on Friday night because it's Columbus Day weekend and I'm fearing a crowd. Oh, well :confused3

Halloween Horror Nights are at Universal Studio IT'S THE BEST!!!! :thumbsup2
It is totally geared toward adults, but I've seen many a kid there, which is a shame, really. I mean, I know some kids like all the horror stuff, but most of those kids looked scared. Universal hires thousands of extra people to work HHN - there's all sorts of scary characters roaming around the park in different sections, and there's so many that when you try walking away from one, there's always another in a different direction! There are also a bunch (like 8 - 10) of haunted mazes which are AWESOME!!!! Universal is the creator of the Horror movie, so they really know how to do it up!
When we went (two different years) we left the kids at the Neverland Kids Club located in the Polynesian. They Loved it - so much so they're very upset now that they're too old to go anymore - cut off is at 12.
