MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

I'm being as steadfast as I can. In the past, once I got this close to goal, my pea-brain would start telling me nasty little lies "it's ok to have a little icecream, you've been sooo good", "you look so much better, you can have pasta once in awhile". I've lost 50 pounds more than 5 times over the years. It's keeping it off that will win the war. That's where you all will continue to be so important :lovestruc

I can so relate to what your talking about! It's so easy at the point your at to lie to yourself. We'll all be here for you though as you finish two and make the transition to step three. I know I wouldn't be able to make it without all of you. It's such a blessing we found one another!

Just a warning. My farmer is sleeping but soon to wake up and I probably won't get the computer again until midnight. There are many ripe crops in Marti's fields. So, if you don't hear from me, I will catch up with everyone tonight! :rotfl:

No, with the recent medical appointments, ect. I've been having to go and grab a small pack of peanuts when we go too long because there's not a carb containing fast food I feel safe with. I usually plan ahead, but lately I've been miscalculating. It's been four or five times this week I've gone up to eight hours without my carb dam. Then the Chinese food yesterday definitely set me over the edge. I'd rather catch it right away rather than struggle with step two taking a while to stabilize me. Luckily it is such a short time period. And I'll be able to have my regular food at Christmas, so the timing is good to start today.

So how are you Lisa? Crazy busy?

Gocha, Nell, makes sense! Not too busy today - kinda catching up and puttering around making cookies for tonight and cleaning since we were gone all weekend. In short, I am playing hooky.;)

Hi Ladies, made it through the luncheon with my chicken caesar salad...resisted the ribs, bloomin onions, big juicy burgers, shrimp linguini, HUGE baskets of fresh rolls....geez...I really didnt want any of it though!

Lisa - glad your MIL is back to as normal as you can expect. Must be so hard for Tom to see her this way...that transition stuff is kind of freaky sometimes isnt it? A good friend who died of cancer a few years back spent the entire evening talking to her dead grandmother and aunt, while her father and I sat by the bed wondering if she even knew we were in the room...she was tlaking to them like they were sitting right there with us! And then she passed the next morning...very weird, but kind of comforting when you really think about it!

Barb - I have NO DOUBT you will keep that 50 pounds off this time...so great that you are almost there!

Carol - I had heard there were some christian rappers out there, but never bothered to look into it, so maybe Nell's right and that might be a compromise for your kids.

Nell - OMG TSO is SO AMAZING!!! (trans siberian orchestra) I have ALL their CD,s and you cannot even imagine how amazing they are to see LIVE!!

Off early tonight, since I had to go in early for the luncheon...so I am outta here and off to the gym! Talk to you later...:woohoo:

How's that old song go: The farmer and the Nell, the farmer and the Nell, high ho the dairyo, the farmer and the Nell :rotfl::rotfl:

Robin: Great job at the luncheon! That's exactly what I had at my office party, too. Thank goodness for salads! Love 'em. Have a good time at the gym!

Nell: You are addicted to that game! We miss you!:surfweb:

Barb: Is that picture on your card near your home? It's sooooo beautiful there! I really want to see it in person before too long. We need to do some exploring hopefully this coming year.

People are starting to give me compliments. My manicurist told me my best friend told her (still with me?) that I had lost a bunch of weight. Funny thing is, my best friend didn't tell me, LOL! My manicurist was really sweet and said she noticed last week for sure. That was nice.

Your best friend needs to come clean and tell you how great you look

Yes, our house is on the side of the hill across the inlet from the bridge where that picture was taken. We are fortunate enough to see the water, city and mountains from our familyroom. The ferries come through the inlet and also aircraft carriers and other Navy ships and submarines on the way to the shipyard at the other end of the inlet. When I see those Navy ships it's sometimes accompanied by Navy fireboats with streams of water shooting up in the air and flags flying to welcome the sailors home from deployment. It's so awesome to see and always fills me with pride for our armed forces.
I hope you and Tom can make it up this way soon!

Wow, its kind of nice to be home from the gym by 11pm!! There is some talk of new shift bids coming up after the first of the year, so if theres a chance I might be able to change shifts I may be able to get a noon to 8:30, or a 1 to 9pm...its amazing how much difference that hour makes at the end of the day...I wouldnt miss the lost morning hour, and the earlier hour home would help with my sleep schedule for sure!

Lisa - when in doubt you can almost always get a chef or chicken salad...the MM "go to" lunch!! So nice that you got the compliment today! I know its so nice to hear, especially from folks who dont see you that often.

I was totally amazed myself today...pulled out my black dress pants to wear to the luncheon and they are actually loose! Even loose in the waist! OMG, thats totally incredible...legs are way baggy, and the last time I wore them about a month ago the waist was definitely tight...I LOVE step 1 !!!

Barb - I am totally cracking up here! The Farmer and the Nell!! :lmao:

Off tomorrow, but have all kinds of stuff to do to get ready to head to CT next week, plus visit with Dennis, so Im off to bed so I can get my "beauty sleep" ( yeah right!) and still get up early!!

Nite ladies!

Pony, I hope you get the new shift you want. Yeah for the loose black pants! Trust your pants !

I am finally on the computer. My day did not go as planned, but that is OK. I would up being out of the house all day so didn't get any of the projects done I wanted to. There is always tomorrow, right??

Farmer and the Nell?!?!? That is really funny:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I looked at Facebook last night. I have not really figured it out. I did see Laura's tree and it is very pretty. Most of the people I know who use it are young. Maybe that is my problem - just not young enough!!! It is certainly successful. Our cousins's daughter who works for them - she just set up an office in Dublin for them - will be at our house for dinner on Christmas Eve. She has been with them since she graduated from Stanford several years ago - not a bad position to be in considering their success.

Lisa - your card arrived today - funny zip code and all. Most of it was correct. Lovely picture of you and your family. I can see why Bonnie is so special. She is beautiful. I still have some Christmas checks to mail so that is on the top of my list for tomorrow's todos. It does take a while to get things from here and to here. What fun to see what everyone looks like. It won't be all that long until February and we can meet face to face.

We had faux potatoes tonight as my cauliflower was quite thawed by the time I got home. I always like it. It went well with the Costco chicken!!Needless to say I didn't do a lot to prepare dinner!!

Pony - wouldn't it be wonderful if you could have a slightly better schedule. Are the phones covered 24 hours?? Congratulations on the baggy pants. That is the best feeling of all!!

Barb - you are really doing great, too. I'm not sure though if it's pounds or inches we should be trying to lose. The scale just does not move very much!!!

Take care everyone and have a great MM day.

Hugs for ALL:grouphug:

Lisa, while I'm playing Farmville, I still talk in here. It's when the other farmer gets the computer that I'm in trouble! After the new year I may be able to get a new cord for my laptop from Amazon. They are so much more affordable there then buying them from HP. Then we can both use the computer!

That is great about the compliments Lisa! It is showing! Maybe your best friend doesn't know if you want to talk about your weight loss?

Barb, it's a beautiful view! It must be great to wake up to! :woohoo:

Thank you and everyone for the lovely cards!

I hope you can get an earlier shift for sure Pony! Your working my kind of hours! You don't need any beauty sleep. Your already beautiful!

Jocelyn, I'm glad the thawed cauliflower worked out well for you! It took me a while to catch onto facebook. There's a lot of games and stuff being played, so it can be confusing. If you go to the main page (the one that you get by clicking on the word "facebook" printed in white, there is a menu on the side. One of the options says "status updates." That is where you can get whatever your friends have written that day. The option that says, "photos" gives you any pictures your friends have posted. I hope that helps you some with it.

Well, Pony is up and running....got a good solid 7 1/2 hours sleep though, so thats pretty good for me!

Thanks you guys, loose pants definitely brought a smile to my face!

Lisa - you guys are getting all musical on me!! LOL, the pants dont lie!!

Nell - aw shucks, beautiful? Hopefully on the inside anyway!!

Barb - Trust your pants is definitely the MM Mantra!! Im going to remember to tell Diane that you have come up with this for us when I talk to her Friday...Im sure she will find it as amusing as we do! LOL

Jocelyn - the phones are manned 24 hours at Nationwide...sales, service and claims...but at 6 call centers from us on the east coast right through the country to Portland...so there are all kinds of shift times available. Our Center on the East Coast closes at 11pm, then the calls re-route to the other centers...it kind of dominoes across the country and then back to us when we re-open at 7am. Would surely hate to be the controller in charge of call-routing! Plus they have to re-route calls every time a center has a sales rally or center-wide gathering...as they have to shut down calls to that center while the event is in progress and the whole center is off the phones. The earliest shift I can take and still get my 10% pay differential bonus is 11:30am to 8pm, so there are 3-4 options I might be able to get and still get home a bit earlier! Glad the cards are starting to find their way to you over there, isnt Lisa's Bonnie a gorgeous puppy?!!

Gave the MM book to a couple interested co-workers for Christmas and they were all fired up to read it and get going after the first of the year...so we shall see just how serious they are! They are both SOOOO Met B, and have been struggling with weight watchers and Jenny Craig deals for months and months with very little success, while they watch me gradually but definitely losing, so they are all for giving it a shot.

Nell: Glad to hear you are multi-tasking, lol!

Robin: Diane will get a kick out of “Trust Your Pants”! We should make shirts, wall hangings and pillows with our new slogan, ala Barb! You did great with your angel shopping! They will love everything you chose. It was really nice of you to get the book for your friends at work. I think my best friend isn’t mentioning it to me because after I told her all about the book and I think she bought it; she isn’t doing it. She’s one of those “What can’t you have?” people. That is so backwards to my way of thinking, but to each his own. Thanks to everyone for all the compliments for our little Bonnie! She is so much fun. She’ll be dancing around here when she sees me clean J-P’s room. She loves him so much. Once we were going to pick him up from the airport and we told her “Let’s go see John-Paul”. She jumped in the SUV and looked in the back to see if we had our luggage. She wanted to know if she would have to drive all day to see him in Oregon. Smart!

Barb: I can’t imagine what it must be like to have your view every day! My husband will want to relocate if I let him see it. What a gorgeous part of the country.

I need a heat wave or to go to Hawaii. My summer goal pants fit me now, LOL! I hope they are too big by this coming summer. We might go to Arizona in the spring so maybe I can wear them then.

Barb - you are really doing great, too. I'm not sure though if it's pounds or inches we should be trying to lose. The scale just does not move very much!!!

It's so weird how this plan works! I've lost only 4 pounds since re-starting step1 a month ago. But, some of the pants I was saving to fit into are already too big??!! My waist is my biggest problem (pun intended). I tried some new pants on this morning to see if the waist fit yet. The waist is great but the hips, thighs and butt are way too big. All this in a month? :confused3
I'm used to judging my weight successes by the scale. I'm slowly realizing that I need to take my own advice (and Dianes) and trust my pants :) If my final goal pants (The Lee slacks, Lisa) fit sooner than my scale goal, I'm done :yay:

I suppose we all have dysfunctional family dynamics at some level, but I really wish, especially this time of year, that it could all be set aside :sad2: My SIL and BIL are our best friends. Their son, who I dearly love, married a gal last May. The minute the wedding was over she turned into a shrew. She picked a fight with my neice and refuses to attend any family functions where my neice is. That leaves my nephew to attend his family gatherings alone. My BIL and SIL and neice are coming to my house this weekend for a Christmas gathering. I asked my SIL to invite my newphew to come along. She feels it would be too awkward for my neice to have the wife there IF she chose to come so rather than hurt her son's feelings and asking him to come without his wife, she won't even mention the party to him. Heavy sigh.

Lisa, while I'm playing Farmville, I still talk in here. It's when the other farmer gets the computer that I'm in trouble! After the new year I may be able to get a new cord for my laptop from Amazon. They are so much more affordable there then buying them from HP. Then we can both use the computer!

Nell - try eBay for the cord for your laptop. I have bought several there and they have all been fine! And not very expensive!

Lisa - I got your card. I love it. Maybe it was because of the card - you were in my dream last night! You knocked on my door, I opened it and there you were! We sat around chatting and I introduced you to Brad. The only weird thing was that you were smoking! Who knows why you were smoking but I remember being surprised. I love the card!

My neice is still in the ICU. She is still on the ventilator so they are putting a tube in her trachea so she will be more comfortable. She turned 22 on Sunday.

Chloe got home last night. She will be home for five weeks!

I got the results for my blood work done. The bad news is that my Graves Disease is acting up and my thyroid is a little hyper. Not as bad as it was three years ago but I have to go on medication to slow it down some. The doctor still thinks I should consider killing my thyroid with radiation or having it removed surgically..... I am going to continue to try to control it with medication for now. The good news is that my chlosteral and blood sugar numbers were all good.

I am sorry that I have been too busy to check in much. I think about each and every one of you!

stirring the pot---did anyone else get that Diane talked about all the good things about splenda and all the bad things about stevia? hmmmm..... opinions please

Oh noooooo! I don't want to read it! I use stevia every day, several times a day. I use it in my coffee and tea! Say it isn't so!!!!
