MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Jocelyn: I LOVE YOUR CARD and photos! You and Bob are such a beautiful couple and you've had such a year filled with adventure. We so enjoyed reading about all of your travels. See you soon!

Hey everyone! :grouphug: I thought I'd explained that I've been missing carb dams and now today had Chinese food. I stuck with what should be allowed, but I'm craving like crazy tonight, so I think there was something I shouldn't have had. I could have sworn that Diane mentioned something about going on step one for 3 days in certain instances. I'm going to look it back over. I think it's in the blog. If it has to be ten, so be it. It's not that I've been cheating, it's just that I think I've gotten my system off whack and I need to refresh a bit. Not a punishment by any means. I'll check the blog. I hope everyone is well today! Carol and Jocelyn, your projects both sound like fun! Talk to everyone tomorrow I hope.

If you've been missing carb dams plus if there was any MSG in the Chinese food that would explain the cravings. MSG is really bad for that. 3 days or 10 days back on step1 should do the trick. See you later

Where is everyone? Hope you are all safe and sound... I forgot that Pam had given me her address for the list...she prefers not to give out her last name due to some past bad experience with posting info on the internet though, but she said they will get there if you just put Pam and her address, so I will e-mail it to all of you on the card list!

So nice that you all are sending out pictures...dont expect one from me though!! Not only is there nobody around to take a new one, but no time to get them done and in the mail!! I might have to send out picture cards to y'all at Valentines Day!! LOL

No pictures yet of me either. My son is supposed to take some digital pictures this weekend so maybe I'll get my picture up here by Valentines Day too

Lee jeans at lee.com are 30% off til tomorrow with free shipping. Very cool. Tom loves my black pinstripe trouser pants, Barb!

I've got about 10 pounds before I can wear mine but looking forward to it. I've now got more goal pants than pants I can wear

Jocelyn- your collage card was wonderful. You are so lucky to experience all the places you've been.

Gena, If you are reading, try to take care of yourself during this trying time.

I spent the whole weekend cleaning and baking and spitting baked goods. It's funny, I'm not sure if the baked stuff was only so so or if I've just lost my taste for them. Hubby isn't much of a cake or cookie eater and says they were "ok" :confused3 Oh Well, I'll wrap them up and give them away next weekend at our family gathering.

I don't know much about the splenda v. Stevia debate. I just know I don't care for the taste of Stevia so I use liquid Splenda. I always thought Stevia would be better health-wise though because it's a natural plant derivitive :confused3

Read the blog about Splenda and Stevia. The negative studies about Stevia were with rats fed very high doses. Watch Food, Inc. and see where many people on the board at the FDA have come from. They are not neutral parties, but many have vested interests in chemical companies. I suspect the sugar lobby had a major influence on the FDA's stance on Stevia. These things are not always what they seem. There are powerful economic pressures behind the scenes and we would be well-served to do more poking around instead of 'trusting the FDA'. If you care at all about the American farmer, I would say you owe it to them to watch Food Inc. even if you have to fast forward until you get to the Monsanto and FDA parts.

Good points Lisa. Part of the Low-carb v. Low-fat controversy is also because big business has their hand in it. General Mills and other cereal makers can claim cereal is "heart healthy" because it's low fat :headache: It just kills me to watch commercials where Mom is giving the kids cereal, toast and orange juice as part of a "healthy" breakfast. Carbs and sugar. No wonder kids are getting fatter.

You bet, Barb! And they are eating a ton of growth hormones in their meat and dairy products if their parents don't buy organic. Dangerous stuff. I can't help but think this is 'growing' the population. Plus, we are antibiotic resistant now and still eating foods from animals fed antibiotics. I better take some deep breaths, lol!:scared1:

Barb: Big shout out to you for being so close to your goal! I have mini goals still at this point. You go girl!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Not a big shout out yet, just a little one :) The 10 pound loss is to fit into my Lee pants. Once I get there I still have 10 pounds more to go if I want to be at my svelte best

:surfwebCarol - OMG! Christmas Rap? I was so surprised to hear that from you of all people!! LOL, just goes to show that keeping an open mind can open us up to a myriad of possibilities!! I cant see how they could add violence, sex or crime to a christmas song, so Im sure the catchy beat must be what sticks in your head!! Congrats on finishing your sewing projects on time...I had all sorts of ideas for embroidery projects but didnt even begin them as I knew they would never be done in time. Maybe I can start them now for next year!!

Robin, You're right, It is a CD that just has a rap beat and noises and none of the lyrics have been changed. Real rap music is not allowed in this house. The kids have argued many times that this or that song doesn't have bad lyrics, but I've told them that I'm not going to sit there and listen to each song and filter out those with obscenities, violence or just plain nastiness so that they can listen to one probably marginal song. Rap is not Music!

It was a good feeling to actually finish the sewing projects ahead of time. I have been known to be up Christmas Eve completing the last odds and ends of something and am so proud of myself this year!

Off to work. Catch you later.

Carol

That's darn close, Missy! Still very, very proud of you!

Carol: Good job on finishing the sewing projects! I wish I could finish my photo project! I'm back on to it after Christmas for sure. We want to scan all the photos for safe keeping and we want to make a compilation for Mom and Dad of their years together. Maybe we'll finish it for their anniversary this year. We wanted to do it for Christmas, but.....:confused3

Carol, If I'm not mistaken, I think there are Christian music groups that play rock and rap. Maybe that could be a good compromise with the kids. I'd be happy to research it for you and see if they have the groups and what their names are. :rockband:

OMG, we went to a friends and watched this music... I don't know what to call it long video, musical etc. It was by the trans Siberian orchestra and it was called the ghosts of Christmas Eve. I've never seen anything like it! It was part rock music but with a story behind it. And you could actually make out the story, not that rock that you don't know what is going on. It had me crying it was so touching.:)

Pony, I'm glad you have your sunshine back!:daisy:

Wow, all these wonderful cards are so sweet! I found a way to get some stamps, so there's a chance I can get mine out in time too! It's so nice to see all of your carbs looking at me from the hutch! Jocelyn, I printed your emailed one! It's gorgeous!

Lisa, I agree that there is so much info to sort through with the sweetener debate. I'm glad that Diane wrote in the blog that it was our choice to make and that either way was ok. I tend to think along the same lines as you do and Barb about the additives. Thank you so much for giving all of the information you do.

Barb, you are doing so well! Good for you on being so steadfast close to goal.:banana::banana:

Nell: I wanted to ask you if the carb dams you have missed are all in the middle of the night. I know you are so dedicated to the schedule that is working for you, but those night ones are optional, so don't be too hard on yourself if you slept through some of them. :flower3:

I read the blog and almost everything says if you return to step one briefly, then do it for ten days. I am craving like mad today, so I know I need to do the brief stint. I do so well on step two that I'll be jumping right back on in ten days. I wonder what triggered me so badly yesterday? I'm thinking it's the msg like Barb said and there could have been small amounts of sugar in the meats that added up to too much together. I ate a lot of chicken and broccoli, and maybe the sauce wasn't good. It wasn't at all sweet, but who knows.

I hope you are all having a lovely day today! :grouphug:

Wow, you are really sensitive. I am allergic to MSG. It gives me a weird sensation in my head so I can tell if they don't tell the truth. Next time see if you can ask ahead what is in the sauces. We found this nice Thai place while traveling and the first waiter couldn't speak well enough, but he went to the kitchen and got a lady who explained all the sauces and the ingredients to us once I told her what we were trying to avoid - sugar, flour, MSG...The food they made for us was soooo good. We gave them a nice tip for taking the time to make us so happy. The 10 days will fly by and you will probably lose another few lbs. too!:cheer2:

No, with the recent medical appointments, ect. I've been having to go and grab a small pack of peanuts when we go too long because there's not a carb containing fast food I feel safe with. I usually plan ahead, but lately I've been miscalculating. It's been four or five times this week I've gone up to eight hours without my carb dam. Then the Chinese food yesterday definitely set me over the edge. I'd rather catch it right away rather than struggle with step two taking a while to stabilize me. Luckily it is such a short time period. And I'll be able to have my regular food at Christmas, so the timing is good to start today.

So how are you Lisa? Crazy busy?

Barb, you are doing so well! Good for you on being so steadfast close to goal.:banana::banana:

I'm being as steadfast as I can. In the past, once I got this close to goal, my pea-brain would start telling me nasty little lies "it's ok to have a little icecream, you've been sooo good", "you look so much better, you can have pasta once in awhile". I've lost 50 pounds more than 5 times over the years. It's keeping it off that will win the war. That's where you all will continue to be so important :lovestruc
