MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Good evening everyone. Pretty exhausted today. A 10 hour day of house cleaning can really poop you out.
Mike's son is now in jail. His aunt saw him at Walmart on Sat, and he finally called Mike last night. He wanted his probation officer's number. Long story short, this teacher lady and her husband went with him to meet with his PO today. We also went. Mike called and talked to the PO first, and he told Mike that Michael will be going to jail.
He had his hair cut, clean shaven, clean clothes, he looked really good. He told Mike he hasn't had any Robitussin for 2 weeks now. I don't know whether to believe him or not. So many lies the last 3 years. His hearing is I think in 2 weeks. He had been staying with the teacher lady.
Thank you for your prayers, all of them are getting answered. Mike has a dear friend who is in charge of the N.A. meetings at the jail, so I think he will be talking to Michael. I just pray he now understands the damage it was doing not only to him, but to our family.

Carol, so sorry you're still not feeling well. Make sure if your throat doesn't get better soon to get to the doctor as it could be strep.

Lisa, please be careful on the ladder! I now know why I hate heights!!!

Robin, glad you were able to talk to Ken. Still praying that Ken gets home soon.

Ok, going to do a little Cyber Monday shopping maybe. I'll try to check in before bed, hopefully :rolleyes1

If I missed anyone, sorry. Later everyone.....

Okay, I must be feeling better as I'm Bored now and can focus better. Thanks for all your well wishes. I'm not good at just hanging out watching TV so writing here is a much better option. Except for a certain black and white cat that thinks she should have all of my attention and keeps walking on the keyboard to remind me she's here. So far, she's opened up a Google page and some kind of Word program. Being the computer genius that I am, not, I'm surprised I've made it back to this post.

Lisa, sorry about your fall and glad you didn't break anything. Our curse as we women age will be more brittle bones that break easily. Since you are the Queen of Falls, you might want to up your calcium intake. Just joking. Be careful!

Kate, I'm so glad you had a good time with your girls. Sounds like you will be heading to The City to help Chloe move. I love the apts there! The older ones have so much character with their high ceilings and decorative woodworking. I hope she's not on the top floor! The pumpkin bread pudding she made sounds decadent. Will have to try it for Christmas dinner. I have a good pumpkin bread recipe but would love the bread pudding recipe if you have it.

Barb, That would be fun if you and Robin got to meet when you go visit your daughter. By the way, how's everything at the office? Did they get things put back together after the robbery and do you feel safe? Hope so. Was talking to a girlfriend that lives in Bremerton and joking about the forecasters rain lingo. We get the same thing here but it's sun instead of rain. I am soooo tired of them saying it's going to be another bright, sunny day. You people in the Northwest have really got to stop hogging all the rain and send some this way. I HATE perpetual sunshine!

Robin, I'm glad you got to talk to Ken today. That must have put a spring in your step and maybe a goofy smile on your face. :lovestruc

Nell where are you today? Hope all's well.

Jocelyn, I posted a sweet potato recipe. Will you look it over and see if you can tell how many carbs are in it? You are the official recipe person and I really appreciate you for doing this.

Kathy, You must be tired after cleaning for 10 hrs. Take care of yourself as I developed my sciatic problems from too much vacuuming and overuse of my right arm and shoulder when I had my cleaning business. My throat feels horrible right now, but from what I understand, that's how it feels with the swine flu. I will go for a Strep check in a few days if I'm not better. So nice to hear that Michael has surfaced and is back in the system. Prayers for this to be his Wake-up Call.

Hi Natalie, How are things with you?

Hi Beverly, Thanks for the well wishes. I think I'm feeling better until I stand up and things start to spin again. At least my brain isn't in a fog anymore so I can handle this.

Carol

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Carol - Thank you for asking, yes we did get some better security measures in place at the office plus hubby comes up with me every morning to open up the office. I do feel better but now take all cash and checks home with me at night.
Seems we have a change in the weather coming. The extended forecast calls for sunny and clear next week with temperatures coming in at high around 27 and lows around 20  Flannel jammies time.

Is anyone else already planning their Christmas parties/dinner?? I want to keep it lower carb with a good carb for the carb eaters like a crusty artisan bread. Here's what I'm tentatively planning: baby back ribs on the barbie, stuffed mushrooms, coleslaw, prosciutto wrapped asparagus bundles, raw veggie/olive/pickle platter....I want to try a new way to make stuffed mushrooms. I found a recipe online using the finely chopped mushroom stems, parm cheese, pepper, onion powder, cayenne pepper, garlic and cream cheese for the stuffing and then baking. Any other tried and true recipes out there for stuffed mushrooms? I'm not sure I'll even do a dessert. Every year nobody wants dessert and we end up sending it home with folks. Maybe I'll just make up some gift goodies for people to take home.

Edited to add: I found the best idea for a take home dessert idea! The recipe is called Cranberry Hootycreeks (cookies) You layer all the ingredients in a 1 quart jar and attach a tag with the instrucions to make. All they would need to add would be butter, egg and vanilla. Tie with a pretty ribbon, fresh cookies at their leisure!

Hi,

This will be short for the moment. My laptop power cord died again and I can't revive it at all. I tried using the desktop, but I can't sit in the chair for long so that won't work. I am now on hubby's old laptop so will use that until the new power cord arrives - hopefully later in the week. My buzzer is calling me saying time to serve dinner. Will be back later - I know - you will all be asleep!

Well obviously I got busy at work! LOL, actually got to combine my insurance skills and my detective skills as I got caught up in an insurance fraud scam with a caller today, and had to involve all the higher-ups and supervisors to "catch" the culprit!! In case anybody wants to know why their insurance rates are so high, its jerks like these people who try to scam the system!! But we got them this time, so hopefully they will end up doing some jail time and I got lots of kudos and pats on the back for my "sharp eye" and probing questions!! Yay Pony!:woohoo:

I have skipped the gym for the first time ever, as after yesterdays wild pony roundup, the hip is killing me and the shoulder bursitis is still quite sore...DARN IT...hopefully all will be better tomorrow and I can resume the schedule. Can you imagine it? I am not being my Type A self and going anyway!!

Lisa - thanks to you, ( and you know what I mean ) I am relaxing with a wonderful cup of tea and an ice pack...you are the sweetest thing ever!!:worship:

OK Barb - now I am excited!! I have a trainer at work who is ALL about the Raleigh area, so I will be asking him for suggestions for where I can meet you in the Southern Pines area! OMG, this will be SO FUN!! We can smoke cigarettes and gab and gossip and stuff!! BTW,what a great christmas menu...as the resident fungus hater, cant help with the stuffed mushroom recipe, but am definitely going to check with Ali, as her fiancee supposedly has the recipe to end all for them!! Will let you know...

Carol - so good to see you up and about some...good idea to check on the strep though, it is going around here for sure. Folks have been complaining that they feel like they have swallowed nails...that CANT be good! Too funny that Kitty is "helping" today...my neighbor's cat does that every time she goes online! Be glad she only brought up Google and a word doc and didnt do any unusual cyber Monday ordering! :lmao:

Kathy - Glad Michael is in some sort of custody again...still scratching my head at this "teachers" involvement though...hopefully she will be a good influence in some way.

Bev and the rest who commented - It was definitely GREAT to get to speak with Ken this morning...we really only seem to be able to connect in person about once a week, and sometimes for just a few minutes, so a dedicated 30 minutes was WONDERFUL...and chock full of mushiness I might add!!

Nell - hope all is well and you are just cramming in the last day with your folks before they head home...

Speaking of "Where is..."....where is Natalie? Laura? Cindy? not to mention Melanie and her mom, Pam, Diane, Sherry, Sharronlee,? I know Tom is off plan...he was FB ing about a DONUT this morning!! haha, Love you Tom!! And Gena and Sueann are still dealing with stress issues...praying for you girls...`

Jocelyn - hope you get your computer issues solved soon, we NEED YOU!! LOL

How exciting! You nailed a scammer. I want details. What was the scam? That is so cool :cool1: Little did they know, they were messing with an ex super-cop-MM Warrior! Good job!

Robin, you are making me excited too! There is no reason we can't make this meeting work :yay: We have plenty of time to talk details. I don't think you'd need to come all the way down. Maybe there's somewhere in Raleigh that your friend could recommend. We WILL be smokin' and gabbin' !

I was thinking the same thing you were. I know Nell and Lisa are sending their loved ones home today, but where is everyone else???

Carol – one cup of cubed sweet potato is 32 carbs. I couldn’t find the carb count for your chilis. Their site doesn’t seem to believe in sharing that info!! Another place said 2 carbs per serving. It would depend it they add sugar for the sauce – otherwise peppers are a free food. The amount of cream wouldn’t add much to the recipe either. If you got 10 servings out of it, it would be about 16 carbs per serving. This would be a great step 2 food. Hope you get well soon. It sounds as if you are really ill.

Lisa – so sorry to hear about your tumble. I fell off a ladder while painting when we remodeled the place we now live in. I went flying one way and a full tray of paint went the other direction. I was on the top rung and the result was a broken leg. Now, I am not really allowed on a ladder unless someone is standing there. I’m not sure they could catch me, though!!

Robin – YAY on the ½ hour conversation. I’m sure it made your day. Good work on your sleuthing abilities, too.

Kathy – I hope all comes out well for Mike’s son. It has to be so hard to see him go through this, but tough love does have to take over.

Barb – the mushrooms sound yummy. Would it be hard to post?? I have had them with Italian Sausage in the stuffing that were pretty good, too.

I went to the gym this afternoon and came out to a dead battery. Nothing stays on so we don’t know what the problem was. AAA came and started me so I got home with no problem. Not my day for things to work!!!

I called Bob to tell him I would be a bit later than planned and he said he had a surprise for me when I got home. Well…….the tree was up and almost all decorated.:santa: It looks lovely. I miss a fresh tree as we always went and cut one down, but not here!!! The fresh ones you buy dry out so fast that they become a fire hazard so we use a fake one. By the time we get done decorating it, it looks quite real. I buy fresh greens and put them in water for the smell. :)

Hope everyone had sweet dreams.

Love to ALL:love:

I've read everyone's posts, but a bit too tired to reply tonight so I just wanted to say sweet dreams and once again how much you all mean to me, especially when I feel a bit lonely. I miss J-P already! I'm soooo glad it's not long until Christmas. Decorating the house makes it come sooner, right?? I'll catch up with you all tomorrow after I recover from the company and excitement.:grouphug:

Today was the last day my parents spent. They are leaving tomorrow morning. I haven't read any of what everyone wrote today! I'm going to catch up a bit before I fall asleep. Love all of you! :grouphug:

Good morning everyone!! Hope you all had a great night sleep!!

Nell, love the new picture!! You look so happy in it!!! MM is great, huh?

Robin, I guess once a cop, always a cop LOL. Great job on getting them!! Maybe they will be nice enough to give you a monetary gift and a day off with pay ;)
I don't know what is up with this teacher either. I don't really trust her after some of the stuff she's pulled. Mike and I were talking last night, and we don't really think Michael was in Pittsburgh at all. We think she went down to pick him up and brought him back to Indiana. And after seeing his aunt, he decided he needed to turn himself in. He can serve possibly a maximum of 2-3 years. Guess we will know in a couple weeks. Mike and I told him we love him, but until he gets straightened out, he's not welcome here. His sister asked us first thing if he was coming back. She doesn't want him to either. Kind of sad, but we have to look after our family and what is best for us.

Barb, if I were closer, I would help you with the move and hook up with Robin. I may not smoke anymore, but I wouldn't mind a drink or two with you both!!

Jocelyn, we always get a fresh tree every year. I love them, except for climbing under it to water it LOL. I have a friend who built a log cabin, and his tree is about 14' tall. It is beautiful. I don't really decorate. I need to get Better Homes and Gardens and learn how to decorate like all of you!!
Ok, have to get dressed and get Carrie off to school. A short day today, thankfully.

Good Morning...sunny and beautiful but a bit on the nippy side out there! The ponies have started getting their cold weather fur, so they are all fuzzy and poofy looking! Its like having a field full of teddy bears!! Luckily for them, they are back in my good graces, so breakfast will be accompanied by some carrots and perhaps a peppermint or two! (their FAVORITE)

Barb - yep, we are DEFINITELY going to make this work! Raleigh would be fine, and Im sure my friend Scott will be able to tell us exactly where to go to not only see something interesting and fun, but where we can hang out without being kicked out for overstaying the time limit! LOL

The insurance scam started out with a customer being transferred to me by a service agent to re-write a new policy for her, as hers had cancelled a couple months before for non-payment, which he was told was some sort of accidental mess up on OUR part as we were supposed to be taking the payments automatically out of her checking account. Well, when I pulled up her old account, her name also triggered 7 other accounts under her social sercurity number in two other names, with drivers licenses in two states, ALL previously cancelled for non-payment and ALL with large prior claims on them during the single month they were in effect! Well, my cynical and non-trusting nature led me to further investigate and I turned up 4 active polices with 4 different companies besides Nationwide, all on the same vehicle, with different addresses and names...and all 4 of them ALSO had recent large dollar claims on them for damage to the same vehicle!! So off to a supervisor I went, which then snowballed into bigwigs and more detailed investigation on their parts...then a recorded conversation with me and 4 others listening in where I put her through a series of probing questions that she lied her way through, contradicting herself many times, and ending with me telling her she would have to look into why all these other policies were still active and WHY did she need another one, since she was apparently already well-insured elsewhere...that taped concersation was then whisked away to the legal department, and thats all I will know until I return on Wednesday!

Kathy - Im with you...NOT a decorator...I used to marvel at my mom when she would just casually toss some things around the house and it looked like it was IN Better Homes and Gardens!! If I casually tossed the same stuff around, it looked like I needed to clean the house!!

Jocelyn - how old is your battery? sometimes they just die of old age...4-5 years is about it most of the time! Oops, prior GM service advisor talking here!!

Nell, great cutie patootie picture!

Jeez, it always amazes me how much work people will put into cheating instead of doing honest labor for a living  Good job catching her!

Barb – the mushrooms sound yummy. Would it be hard to post?? I have had them with Italian Sausage in the stuffing that were pretty good, too. :

I'll post the recipe on the recipe thread. I normally do stuffed mushroom with a sausage/breadcrumb filling but thought I'd try something new.
I hope all your electronic and mechanical things work better today

Good morning everyone! Well, life is back to normal. I'm a little sad but ready for a nap. Especially since I had to get up so early and pick grapefruit. :cool2: The sun hurts my eyes! :rotfl: I sent my parents home with a box full of grapefruit!

Thanks for the complements on the new picture. I am very happy nowadays. You are all a big part of that! :grouphug: I wish I drove. I could drive around and visit all of you. I am definitely planning on being their for Pony's wedding and the godiva ride. Robin, are you planning on getting married on the farm? I thing an outdoor wedding in Virginia would be gorgeous! I'm such a nature buff that if I were going to be married I'd find a small clearing of wildflowers in the woods and do it with waving flowers up to my hips! That's probably a little extreme for most though. Plus we know how Pony feels about bugs! :scared1:

I need to do some food shopping today. I bought a big bag of those salt free roasted peanuts in the shell the other day and they made a great snack. I don't think you actually end up eating a whole lot of peanuts because they have to be opened, but I could be in denial about that. :rotfl: My weight seems to be holding steady though. Very very slowly inching down. That is quite ok with me. I think the slowness means that it's coming off permanent instead of a diet type reaction.

Barb it is so great to see you here this morning! Your such a positive charging influence! I'm glad that you got more security at work and really glad you have a supportive, protective and loving spouse that will help you through what happened at work. I agree with you scam artists are wasting so much talent that could be channeled in a positive manner. It's a shame they decide to take that route. I hope the woman that Pony exposed goes through a change in consciousness and spirit. If anyone could set that in motion, I know our Pony could. She's one of God's warriors!

Jocelyn, I'm sorry that most of the time you talk with us we are sleeping. It is so great to hear from you every morning though! I think this is a good format for us as we are in different time zones. The blogging works a lot better than instant messaging!

Lisa, please talk to us if you are sad today. You too Kate! And anyone else sad. Kathy, I'm sorry you are going through what you are with your loved one's son. I hope he can find his way and come out on top. He must realize the love he'd have from all of you would be a powerful force. That has got to help.

Lisa, I hope your not sore today from your ladder excursion! Carol, I am really glad your improving. Don't get up and do too much too soon. Drink lots and lots of fluids. They will help you keep getting better and build you back up!

Kathy: I’m glad Michael has been found, although, the circumstances seem strange. Let’s all pray he gets the help he needs. I think you have to protect yourselves and the other children in the family while he is under the influence of this addiction. Please take the time to take care of yourself so you can stay healthy and be a support to Mike. He must be heartbroken.

Robin: Love the vision of fluffy ponies back in your good graces! Oh, goody, I get to decorate your house during the Big Chill occupation, as well! Awesome detective work! When I was doing accounting, I once caught a front office gal embezzling thousands of dollars of Medicare payments from the doctor she worked for. He seemed glad we busted her, but then turned around and paid for her to go to nursing school. Do you think she was dipping into his bank account as payment for perhaps other services rendered?? If I do anything like eat a donut, will you all promise to crawl through the lines and jerk me back to my senses??? We all need to stick together and stay accountable. This WOE is for life because we know it works for us and we are Met B. That isn’t going to change. I think we need to focus always on what we can enjoy instead of the few things we can’t indulge in. There is so much to be grateful for and to enjoy in life and with MM food, right??

Barb: My Mom makes the best stuffed mushrooms. I’ll have to ask for her recipe.

Nell: Look at your cute little fresh face! You are so pretty! If we were to renew our vows, I think it would be on the beach. I also love the woodsy idea. I’m doing ok so far today. Sore, but not too bad and not terribly sad. I did tell Tom last night that the 4 days seemed like a dream, it passed so quickly. We had a really nice time, though, and every time we are together it’s easy to see J-P is growing in maturity and has a great life in Portland. We couldn’t wish for more so I have to count our blessings. He made arrangements to meet his swimming partner as soon as he got off the plane. It’s really important to exercise when you are a computer geek. He used to be an athlete so I’m really glad he’s joined a club. He's making a lot of good choices lately.

Kate: How are you doing with Chloe leaving? I hope you are taking your Vitamin D! Does it seem to be helping? I'm thinking about you! We have just enough time to clean up again and have some down time before we are all together again. Yippee!

Good Morning

My computer problem will not be solved until a new power cord arrives. The part that goes into the computer broke off. I sit with it on my lap and the design of the cord is not good for that. This is the second time it has happened. I should have ordered a spare. Without the cord, I can't charge the battery. It will arrive - hopefuuly by the end of the week. I do have others to use, but this one is light and small and just easier to deal with. All of the recipes are on that one - I just thought of that and I was going to make some muffins. I think I posted it here, I'll have to go look. Some things are backed up to my desktop, too. The biggest problem is that I cannot sit with my feet on the floor for any length of time so cannot spend time reading posts.

The laptop I am using now is called a desktop replaement laptop and it is heavy, but it will be just fine!!! Bob got a new one, so this one was just sitting there.

Not much on the agenda today. I put stuffed animals under out tree as there as there are no presents to speak of. We have collected them on our travels and people used to give me stuffed bears until I said "ENOUGH". It does fill the space up under the tree so have to organize them today. They fill up 2 storage bins!!

Nell - love the new picture. I tried putting something else on Facebook, but couldn't figure out Photobucket. I know someone else told how to make pictures smaller without using Photob, but I seem to have lost that info. If someone could easily re-post those directions, I would be really grateful.

Have a great MM day.
