MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Thanks for the receipe Lisa, I'm thinking of making that for Thanksgiving. Ohhhh can't wait!

Thanks Lisa for the link for the pants. That is a really good price!!

Also, thanks for the crust/pie recipe!!

Very quiet today. Looks like everyone is cooking and cleaning and getting ready for turkey day :) I'm bored at work. I'll check in later.

Nell, I'm thinking of you and how far you've come since we all first met over at the other board

ok, bored again at work too Barb...checking out the Lee jeans...Im confused though...the Jessica ones look like dressier pants, not just plain jeans? Am I in the wrong place? I just want good old, regular Lee jeans...I googled Lee jeans on Oprah and got some info about N0-Gap...are those the ones? HELP!!!
too funny about your husbands"help"...hide the next pair!!! there wouldnt have been any "pooching" in the hips if I had tried them on...I still have LOTS of hips to fill out the pooch! DARN IT

Lisa -
I think I will try that pie recipe instead...it sounds way yummier! Funny thing is, all I REALLY want for Thanksgiving is a deep dish sicilian pizza....yum

Sandra - good to see you checking in! Have a great T-day if we dont see you here before then...did I get your birth day for the list?

I would leave right now but I have to pick Chloe up at the airport tonight. Well, at least I hope I do. I started reminding her in late September that she should make her reservation for the shuttle because Thanksgiving is such a busy time of the year. She sent me a text message last week that the shuttle was full (go figure....). She sent me another text message several days ago that they added an extra shuttle. That is the good news. The bad news is that it leaves Tacoma at 2:00 and her flight is at 4:00. I think she is cutting it a little too close. She won't have any luggage to check in so keep your fingers crossed that there is no traffic. KIDS!

Is she going to school in Tacoma? Which one? I went to PLU for one year. I know there are a couple of other ones in the area.

Hope her trip home is uneventful this time, though!! At least you are not circleing SFO on Thanksgiving Day!

Robin: There are a ton of Lee jeans. If you go to the show on Oprah.com about bras and jeans you can see the Lee ones they picked out. I have two kinds of Lee, but the Jessica trouser jeans are the most flattering. I wear them for everyday unless I want to wear flats. No matter what, get a dark wash straight leg; they look the best on everyone but Twiggy. I think my other more casual ones have the word comfort in the name - not sure - got them at Kohls. You for sure want that new Lee wasitband. Some of them say No Gap, but as long as it's got the wide strip of stretch inside the waistband, it won't gap. The fit is amazing and it's so comfortable.

Pumpkin cheesecake is in the oven. Waiting for the plumber. Can you imagine not being able to wipe up or wash your hands in your kitchen? I have to carry everything to the laundry sink and wash my hands in the bathroom, lol! Did it, though!

Hi again. Have a tea question. I just got my free sample from The Republic of Tea, and I have some loose leaf teas as well. The sample one is a rooibos tea (red tea) and it has vanilla and cinnamon in it. I steeped it for 7 minutes, then poured it over ice. It is really yummy!! No splenda or sweetener needed. Red teas tend to have a sweet taste.
Any way, here is my question. My glass infuser that came with my teapot got broken. I am wondering if I really need it, or can I use one of those small metal diffusers? I really liked the glass one, but to get a replacement, with the shipping, I could almost buy a new glass tea pot :(
Just wondering if anyone had a preference if you use loose leaf tea.

Hi All – it is still morning here!

Robin – if you like the favor of cranberry strain it through some cheesecloth and then you can have it without all the sugar in it. I know, it would be a lot of work, but the only way to get sugar free is to make it yourself!!

Lisa – the recipe is posted. I used to make the crust like that when I first did low-carb. I remember making pecan pie that way one Thanksgiving.

Barb – so glad you found another pair of pants. What a disaster the first time!!

Lisa – I bet your cheesecake is fabulous. Have you tried to low carb it? Cheesecakes are one of the easier things to do that with.

I stopped at Whole Food’s on my way back from the gym this AM. I went to buy egg white powder which they had the other day. Well, in the meantime they re-did the Bob’s Red Mill section and did away with it!!! Grrr. I have a recipe that looks interesting, but need that. As I was looking over the shelves I saw “sugar free” jam. It is made with zylitol and fruit – no added fruit juice. The carbs are 2 after subtracting the sugar alcohols. I know we are not supposed to do that, but that particular SA is not supposed to have any effect on you and some sites recommend it over Splenda for cooking. I haven’t tasted it yet though!! It will be for just a taste of sweet as my wraps are only 3 carbs. They also had bags of erythritol on sale.

The other interesting thing was everyone shopping there was young – I mean moms with strollers young. They were getting their turkeys and not even looking at the prices!! $70.00 was not an unusual price:eek: – things are expensive here!! However, I don’t blame the young people for wanting food without any additives for their little ones. As my husband said, they have never known low prices so just take it for granted.

Hopefully Kate’s daughter is on her shuttle and it is on it way to SeaTac!!!

Nell - your garden sounds lovely. When will your follks arrive. I would love to be invisible and see their reaction to the new you!!

Off to make a breakfast casserole to have the next few days.

Hugs for ALL:grouphug:

Did anyone put Robin's Italian Wedding Soup in the recipe thread? I can't find it and wasn't sure if we did or not. I will continue to look for it though.
Thanks

Nell, just hoping your parents have made it down there by now. Haven't heard from you and just wondering.

You can use the mesh ones or metal. Just don't leave it in the metal a long time.

Kathy - Dr. Oz recommended Rooibos tea for something. I wrote it down, but not the reason to use it. :confused3 I don't like to drink hot things, but I will definitely try it cold.

Hi, Jocelyn! Good to see you today! I'm still waiting for the plumber!

My cheesecake is a recipe I've had for years from an upscale bakery that used to be in the Arden area called Tarts and Truffles. I couldn't bear to experiment with it since the family loves it so much. Maybe someday when it's just me and Tom I will. You'll have to help me! I'm making us the locarb pie.

I paid a lot for my turkey, but it's free range, organic, hormone and steriod free so it was worth it. It was $45. We'll eat off of it for several days. They'll all be back over here for leftovers Friday.

That's really too bad they did away with the Bob's Red Mill. Can you talk to the ordering person? They are usually pretty good about that at Whole Foods. I love that place!

Thanks Lisa. I wasn't sure if it would take on a "metal" taste or not. I may order one of the individual cups with infuser.
I absolutely love the teas from The Republic of Tea. It's a little costly, but if I drink it, it's well worth it. They have sooo many flavors of black, white, red, and green tea. They even have green tea that has a chocolate taste!
I think I may order a sampler for my mom for Christmas. They are 4 small tins with I believe 6 teabags in each one and I think they are around $12 or $12.50.

Kathy – I just looked through the old LCF recipe forum for MM and didn’t find the soup. I thought it was there, but must have not gotten transferred. I think it was when we were on the old site. Hopefully she can give it to you again, or Google it and you will probably see a lot of recipes. We don’t eat a lot of soup here due to the warm weather. However….I did find the mock “Reese’s” PB cups. I knew I had seen it somewhere!! If nothing else, your sweet tooth will be satisfied!!:)

Peanut Butter Cups

1 stick butter
1 ounce unsweetened chocolate (1 square)
1/3 cup Splenda
1 tablespoon cream
4 tablespoons peanut butter
Chopped walnuts

Melt first 3 ingredients in microwave; add cream and peanut butter. Line 6 muffin cups with paper liners; pat nuts into bottom of each. Top with chocolate mixture and freeze. Store and eat frozen. Makes 6.

I missed that episode. I have heard that it is as good as green tea as far as antioxidants and such. I love the taste of it, as it has a slight sweet taste to it. Here is what they said about the one they sent me. But it applies to all the red teas:
