MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Kathy – I just looked through the old LCF recipe forum for MM and didn’t find the soup. I thought it was there, but must have not gotten transferred. I think it was when we were on the old site. Hopefully she can give it to you again, or Google it and you will probably see a lot of recipes. We don’t eat a lot of soup here due to the warm weather. However….I did find the mock “Reese’s” PB cups. I knew I had seen it somewhere!! If nothing else, your sweet tooth will be satisfied!!:)

Peanut Butter Cups

1 stick butter
1 ounce unsweetened chocolate (1 square)
1/3 cup Splenda
1 tablespoon cream
4 tablespoons peanut butter
Chopped walnuts

Melt first 3 ingredients in microwave; add cream and peanut butter. Line 6 muffin cups with paper liners; pat nuts into bottom of each. Top with chocolate mixture and freeze. Store and eat frozen. Makes 6.

Thank you Jocelyn! You are a life saver!! I haven't tried the other candy, waiting to get paid so I can pick up a couple of the ingredients.
Does the wedding soup have chicken pieces in it? I don't remember eating any other meat in it other than meatballs. I got the shirataki noodles to make it, just need the recipe. I'll keep looking LOL.

Diane wants us to drink the green tea for the metabolic benefits. That's why I think you see it in the pills and not other teas. Red and white are great antioxidants, though.

I actually do take the pills LOL. I swallow them down with a big gulp of coffee :lmao:
That is the only way I can get any green tea in me. I will have to look on the website and see if I can maybe find a flavored green tea I'd like. I think the chocolate tasting one is a green tea. I'll have to double check.

I love the internet! You can type in any question to Google and get an answer. I once fixed my son's car! I just found out how many cups of pumpkin are in a 15 oz. can because I bought a big can to make 2 recipes. It's 1 3/4.

Let me know. I used to buy Trader Joe's chocolate tea. It was my dessert tea. No carbs or anything. They quit making it. Sad!

The soup has meatballs in it - here is a link to a recipe that could be adapted quite easily. Most people really like her recipes.

Lisa, here is the "write up" they have on it. Not sure about the carb count though. There are 3 different kinds.

Double Dark Chocolate Maté (36 Tea Bags)

Dynamic Duo - It's a match made in heaven: antioxidant-rich, organic, roasted Yerba Maté blended with organic dark cocoa powder in a guilt-free, full-bodied dessert tea. Dark Chocolate also brims with antioxidants, plus polyphenols – compounds known to lower blood pressure.

These two nutrient powerhouses promote longevity and good health. Savor the allure of organic, roasted Yerba Maté as it mingles with the satisfying flavors of organic dark chocolate. It's nice with a splash of warm milk.

This exciting brew was recently featured on ABC's Good Morning America. Watch the clip here.

Just click on the tea tin and it will tell you about it. You can then click on the right where it tells you how to brew it, and tells you a bit more about it.

Hi Girls, I can post the Wedding Soup recipe again when I get home...I thought Jocelyn had probably already moved it to the thread!! LOL, sorry Jocelyn, hate to depend on you to move every recipe!!

Lisa - ok, I will search for the jeans with the no gap...do those Jessica ones look like regular jeans though? or are they more like dressier pants? I am a very low key dresser, so its just the basics for me, and I never wear anything but flats! LOL They just seemed to have a pretty wide leg and the waistband looked different to me...not like a regular zip fly...OMG I absolutely used to HATE the old button fly jeans!! What a pain in the neck when you have to pee as much as I do! :rotfl2:

Jocelyn - OMG I am all about those peanut butter cups, going to make some for treats tomorrow on my day off! YUMMY! And PLEASE do what you can to low carb that pumpkin cheesecake of Lisa's...I would definitely be on that one too!

Hi Diane - noticed you just slid in out of nowhere!!

Kathy - got confused trying to follow all the tea talk..that diribose tea was good and no sweetner needed? Maybe I could combine that one with my green tea...I bought some peppermint tea and that combined with the green was absolutely disgusting! Supposedly the peppermint is good to help reduce bloating, so maybe I will just have it by itself...that darn green tea is really kicking my butt...there has to be SOMEWAY I can choke it down!

Robin - I just buy the green tea capsules at Wal Mart. One of the health gurus uses them, so I figure it is OK.

Here is a copy of a e-letter I just got from LOW CARBING AND HEALTHY EATING. It starts out by saying do you remember what the late, great Dr. Atkins said?:

Following is the letter - not my words.

His famous quote from his book is: "Exercise is non-negotiable."

I have something else to add to that: "Cooking is non-negotiable on a low-carb diet."

One can run into serious problems sticking with the diet if one is totally adverse to cooking. See, if there is practically nothing to eat, even a serious dieter will be tempted to break down and have something off plan - especially, if those off-plan items are in the house due to other family members who do not follow the same WOE.

People have discovered through trial and error that eating whole foods and foods low on the glycemic index, or more importantly, taking into account the glycemic load of foods, is the healthiest way to eat. Choosing fresh meats over processed meats is preferable. Cooking a roast and slicing it thinly is preferable to using processed, thinly sliced meats, because processed meats are full of sodium, nitrates and sometimes contain sugar. I love roast beef rolled up with asparagus or cheese with horseradish sauce or mayonnaise.

Fresh vegetables, even frozen, are preferable to canned veggies, which often contain sugars. Again, one needs to cook some of these. Salads also require some work.

I have found if I cook (and I'm a cookbook author), I do much better with sticking to low-carbing, however, I go through lazy times (yep, me too), and it is very difficult to remain perfectly true to low-carb during such times. I have a couple of low-carb Philistines in the household, so I have to cook different meals for them - almost daily. If I fail to provide meals for my husband and I - well, it's very difficult to resist the freshly baked high-carb buns or pasta, or whatever. This is especially true for my husband who is missing a vanity chip, which is what will keep me on track more often than not. I love the fact that our young, adult sons are still with us for a little while, but it does make it difficult sometimes when it comes to meals. I have to have something on hand that is equally as enticing for my husband and I. Let me tell you, it is not easy to always have the energy to be on top of things to that extent.

So, I have discovered, through the years, that cooking and baking low-carb is non-negotiable, if you want to stay on plan. If you have family members on a different WOE, my heart goes out to you. It is not always easy!

However, if you have slip-ups, and there are probably more of us that do than don't, please don't throw in the towel. Every day, every meal, do your best to make sure you have something on hand (even hard boiled eggs will do in a pinch) - a roast chicken from the store (this one is great!), an interesting salad and veggie for sides - things like that.

Also, keep in mind if you are in this to lose weight - calories absolutely do count! I don't care what anyone else says - for me, they do; for my husband, they do. It is about creating a calorie deficit - no question about it. Sure, there is a metabolic advantage to low-carbing (i.e. you could probably have a few more calories and lose weight than on a low-fat diet), however, only if you are in ketosis. This is my opinion, of course.

I thought this could be applied to MM. We don't get into ketosis so the calorie count might even be more important when it comes to extra fats.

Here is the link to the article.http://low-carb-news.blogspot.com:80/ There is a cute picture with it. You can subscribe to her newsletter. I know I have posted some of her recipes in the past.

Robin: Jessica jeans are dressier; they call that style trouser jeans. If you don’t like a wide leg, at least make sure it isn’t tapered to the hem. That makes you look top heavy. They zip up and have one button at the top. Lee makes probably 25 styles of jeans. The more casual ones I got are really cute, too. They had a nice flat pocket on the butt.

Anyone that makes that pie I posted: They are serious about needing a deep dish pie pan. It really goes high when it cooks. Looks yummy! I ran out of pumpkin pie spice – voila! The internet again – found the proportions to mix it myself out of other spices. Also, when you put the crust in, you will think you didn’t make enough – just keep pushing it around with your fingers and it makes just the right amount with no spaces once you work it in.

Plumber is finally gone and we are put back together.

It sounds fantastic! I wonder if it has carbs? The one I got before didn't, but then again, it didn't sound this rich. I love dessert teas. Celestial Seasonings has some new ones out for the holidays. They don't have chocolate though.

Robin, the tea is called Rooibos, or red tea. It is native of South America. You can also purchase it at Walmart, although I don't think they would have much in variety.
I don't know how long you'd have to steep green tea for the health benefits and such, but I know most of the red teas, you pour boiling water over it and let it seep for 5-7 minutes.
It may not be too bad to mix with green tea. But like Jocelyn said, it's easier to just take the pills. they run not quite $5 at Walmart. They have them where the diet pills and such are.
There is a really good red tea you can buy at some supermarkets called KALAHARI. I have tried different varieties, and it is really good. One was the Honeybush Blend and the other was Highlands Honey. Here is their website:

http://www.kalahariusa.com/

this site is the red teas they have:

Ladies--hope this goes through---posted a bunch yesterday but I"m on my husbands laptop (mine's on the fritz) and nothing went through-UG!

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! I've been researching fibro so much lately when I get a chance to get online but I read here everyday so know I"m with you even if you don't see me!!

Lisa--please let me know what you did after you read From Fatigued to Fantastic--I went to the fibro and fatigue center in Philly the other day for a free consultation and I'm going to have to take out a second mortgage to pay for them!! $6,000 for a year's service there, doctors visits, IV therapy, supplements. they let you make monthly payments of $500! Did you go to a doctor for help??? Looking for someone around here that might be a bit cheaper but I have finally found a place that takes care of EVERYTHING all together. I just don't know..... thanks sweetie!!

We just got our 'foster' Boston Terrier today--his 'dad' was trying to euthinize him because he's peeing around the house and he can't take it anymore (the dog is 10 and has seen his 'dad' go through a divorce, move to a new house and now his new girlfriend doesn't like him) what a sweet dog! of course I think I'll be the one to adopt him!!! I just started volunteering for the BT rescue about 2 weeks ago and already I've got a dog here that I want!! Well, I always wanted 3 children and I only got one (a great one at that!) so now I'll have two other four legged children!!

Nell--congrats on the jeans!
Pony--picture of the ring would be nice!
Kathy--so happy about your daughter!

Ug--brain fog makes me not remember what everyone else was talking about!!

Enjoy the tea, brie, pumpkin pie with the yummy crust (I'm printing that one out!) jeans, cranberries!! When are we meeting at Robins??? I can drive that one!!!

OK, so I guess it really is time for me to throw in the towel on the green tea and just package it up to send to Nell at Christmas!! LOL, its another supplement pill for me! YAY! Its been darn exhausting fighting with this green tea thing!

OK Lisa - so no dressy jeans for this Pony...I will look for the wide elastic in the waist and I dont like the wide legs, but I usually do wear a boot cut...no straight legs for me. Funny though, it seems that my legs is where I have lost the most inches!! Not skinny by any stretch of the imagination, but way smaller than before MM...so if I can stuff my muffin top into the waistband, I will be good to go!

Kathy - ok, got it...red tea, are there specific benefits to this one, other than the fact it actually tastes good?

Jocelyn - green tea capsules on the Walmart list...are the dosages all the same? How much do you take? Thanks for sharing that Atkins info...I have always believed we needed to watch calorie intake too...it only makes logical sense!

45 minutes and counting to my liberation from NW and 2 days in a row off! Whoopee!!:cheer2:

Hi Natalie! Wow, $6000....that seems awfully expensive! So happy that your new little friend was lucky enough to find you for a new mom, he will be so happy! Poor thing sounds like he is just traumatized...BTW, how close are we? Are you in PA too?...sorry I forget where everyone is...I think in terms of the east coasters, the west coasters, the florida crew, Barb in the midwest, and Jocelyn in Hawaii...after that Im lost! LOL...maybe we can meet in the middle somewhere someday like Lisa and Kate are doing!:car:

:rotfl: Last time I looked, I'm near Seattle which is definitely on the west coast.

Robin: Straight leg and boot cut are in the same category. Straight isn't skinny - it just makes a nice line down the leg - not going in and out. You just don’t want the bottom narrower than the knee.

Natalie: I just took notes and bought the supplements along with getting natural hormone testing with saliva and armour thyroid per the appendix for doctors. I take the acetyl L carnitine, the powder with the B complex and CoQ10, in additon to the other supplements we take. I didn't stick with Adrenal Fatigue, as I think it seemed to interfere with my sleep. I would have been much better off going to a clinic, I'm sure, but son was in college at the time and you know the rest of the story! I am a lot better, but not cured, so get whatever help you and your husband think is reasonable for you.
