MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Lisa and Kathy, Yeah! on fitting into those smaller clothes. Lisa, did you get those dresses during your Ross trip? I found a beautiful pair of grey work slacks at the Rack last week for "someday". Trouble is most of my pants are still someday pants and my today pants are getting a little ragged looking

Pony, if you feel like a heifer today, I feel like a bull! My liver is close to bursting it filled up sooo fast :scared1: I wish we had a super Walmart here :sad2: I keep hearing about the great products people find there. I end up having to get most of my lc stuff online.

I'm doing ok so far today. I'm thinking I'll stay on step1 until the Monday before Thanksgiving. Do you all plan to have regular Thanksgiving dinner or modify it somewhat for step2? I think I'll just have a bit of my favorite (stuffing) and make the rest legal. I don't think I'll make the crustless pumpkin pie because DH would rather have the real deal and I don't need a whole pie left over.

Check back in awhile

Good evening everyone! Good to "see" you all here. Not much going on tonight. Got back from work around 8, and just chilling out now.
I have a chicken on my counter in a stockpot sitting in a brine. I will be stuffing it tomorrow morning, then into the crock pot to cook all day.
Stopped at Walmart and noticed the turkeys aren't on sale now. The butterball ones are .98/lb. I'll be keeping an eye open for more sales. I cooked the carcus in the pressure cooker for about 4 hours, made a great broth, and the bones mushed right up. So I put them into quart freezer zip lock bags, smooshed up all the meat and bones. Gave some to Tyson with his kibble tonight. Of course he loved it LOL. He had a nice long nap after the long walk this afternoon. A tired boxer is a happy boxer LOL. He was such a good boy today. He is well trained, and walks off leash with us. He didn't even give the kids walking a second thought. A few stopped and asked if they could pet him. I would love to get him into therapy dog. Go to nursing homes and such. He is soo gentle with people.
Ok, I'm tired and rambling. In case I don't get back here before I go to bed, sweet dreams everyone. God Bless also.

Tea ladies and Nell. I got some Good Earth Ginseng Green Tea today with citrus. What is it that ginseng is supposed to be good for??

Barb: I got the dresses at Ross, but months ago – didn’t try them on and they were too clingy when I did, but loved the fabrics so put them aside for inspiration. I can’t wait to wear one to work this week! We are simplifying Thanksgiving a bit – like a pure vegetable, instead of any sauce and plain sweet pots. I’ll make my pumpkin cheesecake for the rest of the fam and probably the low carb pie with the praline crust I have made before for us. We’ll have a big salad, too and probably soup for starters. Ginseng is an aphrodisiac, Barb! Were you prepared for that? LOL! The sandwich thins are Orowheat. 17 net carbs. It’s ginkgo biloba that’s good for your memory Kath.

Here ya’ go: ginseng’s good for other things, too.

In terms of modern scientific research, ginseng is known to be an adaptogen. Adaptogens are substances that assist the body to restore itself to health and work without side effects even if the recommended dose is widely exceeded. Ginseng due to its adaptogens effects is widely used to lower cholesterol, increase energy and endurance, reduce fatique and effects of stress and prevent infections.

I've been working on emailing lists and data entry tasks since I woke up. I would love to have intelligent conversation, but my mind is going, duh, duh, dum de doo, duh...

On an up note I loved having my peas tonight! I was very excited to get lots of nutrition for my carbohydrate buck!

I just washed a bunch of dishes, and came back to this half written response, so I'm going to hit reply and see if anyone else has shared!

Hi Barb. Ginseng is what is called an adaptogen. That basically means that it increases wellness in many different areas. It tends to boost the immune system, help with energy, help with anxiety problems, endocrine disorders etc. It works like something super nutritious, but they can't exactly determine what nutrients it has. Science doesn't know a lot more than it knows. If taken in high doses it can up the energy too much. I don't think you'll be drinking that much tea though! :)

You know, I'm not planning on changing the meal at thanksgiving because of step two so much as I'm not craving all the sweets, so I'm not planning on making them. I am going to take care to make the food wonderful. I'm going to use Erythritol for anything I do bake. I plan to sit at the table and slowly savor the meal, like they do in Europe instead of eating as quickly as possible like we tend to do in the US.

Thanks for the tea suggestions Lisa, sorry Nell, somehow I thought it was you who was into teas!!

Barb - Im going to stay legal for Thanksgiving...might make the crustless pumpkin pie for myself and hog the whole thing so I have extra for 5x5 freebies during the following week! too funny that we are a couple of "cows" today!! Not sure why I feel so freaking fat today, except for missing that feeding I havent done anything else out of the ordinary...guess its just a fluffy day for me! My sandwich thins are by Arnolds, and are 22g with 6g fiber...cant wait for a turkey burger on a bun for a change!! Might even snag bev's idea and put some blue cheese on there! YUM

I found a really nice black chenille sweater at Goodwill while I was shopping for books...size 16/18, fits perfectly and $3!!

I think I will be avoiding the ginseng until Ken comes home!!:rotfl:

Kathy - that is so great that Tyson walks with you off leash...my Jack Russell is 13 years old and I have NEVER been able to let him off leash!! He would be in the next county in about 2 minutes, then stand around going, where am I and how do I get home!!!

Nell - mixed up my plain yogurt with some sugar free raspberry syrup and I am good to go!! It tastes even better than the prepared ones!!

Lisa - I did NOT do the cleanse yet and I am so glad you reminded me!! I have all that lemon juice ready too...where has my mind been lately?!! Oops, I think it is overseas!!:lovestruc I already have my Trader Joes list ready for my Christmas visit...cant wait to see if I can find that english toffee tea...it sounds so good! I LOVE Skor bars and Heath bars...not that I can even remember when I had one last...so that sounds like something I would really like. We have the Celestial Seasonings here, but only about 5-6 flavors...I think there was some raspberry something, a mandarin orange spice something, and then all the yukky kinds like chamomile, YUK YUK YUK

Well Pony, Ginseng does help with wellness in "all areas." :lmao:

I'm an herb person. Sometimes that involves teas, so I probably seem to be a tea person. I feel the same way as you about chamomile. I use medicinally sometimes, but have to hold my nose to drink it. I do love Rooibos tea, but that tastes almost like regular tea. It's good for you like green tea though.

Oh yea, that is awesome about the yogurt! No aspartame and you get to have yummy yogurt!

Hey, ginseng sounds like an all around good thing, Thank you for checking! Maybe I'll slip some in hubby's coffee :lmao: I'll keep an eye out for the sandwich thins for step2. I like the Sara Lee bread I was using but wasn't crazy about it. I like your dinner plan. It will just be me and hubby this year so we like to keep it pretty simple anyway.

I love to roam through Goodwill. I send my hubby up there on Wednesdays because they give an extra discount to folks over 62. He comes home with new Levis or hand tools and you'd think he won the lotto :lmao:

Duh, I repeated what you said, lol. I told you I was brain dead! Sorry Lisa!

On Wednesdays here at Sally's clothes are half off! I haven't run out of clothes yet, but you know where I'll be heading when I do!

I tried to scan the the site here last week but wasn't able to really follow too much. Did I see stwill post that she was struggling? Has she been back? I hope she's ok. We all know how hard it can be when carbs take over our minds..I have to tell you, after just a few days of overeating carbs, my body did NOT like it. Everything that usually hurts really felt worse. Aches and fatigue that I'd forgotten could feel so bad. I wonder why carbs effect us so much physically

It must be something that the insulin does to us. I wonder if it causes inflammation? I hope she is ok also. Hopefully just busy.
