Hi, I've not been able to post now for an hour. It was very traumatic! I'm glad it's working again!
 
Pony, another idea is the Italian Sausage and string bean casserole. It's really good with garlic and Parmesan/Romano cheese.

Honeygram, the purpose of this support group is a safe place to say what you need to. It's wonderful that you have family support, and no one would take offense to that.
 
I am confused by the 1/2 of a cup of peas portion. That amount, minus the fiber comes to less than 11 grams of carbs. I'm asking Diane for some clarification.

We had that tonight for the first time. It's a lot of peas! We're stuffed. Spaghetti squash, pesto, chicken and peas. Leftovers and peas. It was yummy!

MMMM. That sounds yummy Lisa. I had a salad and cottage cheese and pineapple. Totally hit the spot for me.

Hey, Nell! Peas and tuna are awesome. Maybe you can have that tomorrow. I think we should trust Diane's measurements, as they probably average out for our best good. I'm sure she will give you a good explanation. Glad you had a nice meal, too. I finished sending off that counter offer so I'm going to try to relax with Tom and get some rest.

Evening over yet? OMG, I could have fallen asleep at work it was so slow!! Did an hour at the gym, checking in here to say goodnite, then heading to bed to wait for Ken's call around 1am...I can honestly say I am SO looking forward to my day off tomorrow! No work, no gym...just shopping and cooking and ponies and hopefully some winterizing in the garden! Geez, now that I read that it doesnt sound like a very relaxing day off now does it? :laughing:

Hi Honeygram! Glad to see you checking in at least once in awhile!! It is so great that your whole family is doing the plan...makes for a private support group at home, plus easier to "police" each other! LOL

Diane - the marsala sounds like a good idea...the potluck is just for my supervisor and her team of agents, so there will be about 15 of us...the cutlets would definitely help stretch the budget!!

Nell - Dont know why you are having trouble posting...I dont seem to be having trouble, but then again, I have had trouble posting here a couple times before, so who knows?:confused3 Dont get frustrated!! There are a few things on step 2 that are confusing as far as measurements go...like the whole grain pasta thing...most of them are more than 20g, but Diane told me that she allows 1/2 cup of any whole wheat or whole grain pasta as an 11-20...so must be the deal with the peas too...I think anything that is listed as legal for step 2 in the book is considered 11-20 no matter what the actual carb count is...kind of like the stuff on the arrow chart for step 1...theres lots of stuff on there that has more than 5g carbs, but are apparently the "gentle" carbs she considers legal. Just go for the 1/2 cup peas and dont worry about it!! :) I forgot about that Italian sausage casserole...hmmmm I might have to bring two dishes!!

I'm still up, lol. I'm being fidgety tonight. I don't want to read, I'm whiny. I almost feel like I have PMS. I am being neurotic about the peas. :rotfl: I'm so worried about screwing this up! Good morning everyone! All most afternoon!! Where has the morning gone? LOL.
I actually slept in this morning. Got up around 7 as opposed to 5-5:30 as I had been. But fell asleep on the floor beside Tyson last night around 7:30! Went to bed around 11 and slept all night! Not sure if the claritan or this WOE knocks me out like that, but I sleep sooo wonderfully. My legs are feeling much, much better today. I can actually get up and down the steps today LOL. Guess I'll have to do my :laundy: today.

Nell, just a heads up. Our Walmart has turkeys on sale for .60/lb. I got a couple of them. I want to get a couple more. So, if you have freezer room and need one for Thanksgiving, it's a great deal!! I cook off all the bones in the pressure cooker for about 4 hours, and it makes the bones mush. I then just mush them with a fork, and mix it in with Tyson's food. Bone is calcium for dogs. So is egg shells. It makes his coat so nice and shiny and his skin doesn't dry out.

Hope everyone is having a great day today. Have to go to work for a few hours later. But nothing major. I just need to get enough energy up during the week to do them in the evening. But after working all day, don't really feel like doing them then. At least the Steelers play tomorrow night and not today.

Morning Kathy! I am so happy that your legs feel better! Im off to Walmart today and turkeys are definitely on my list! I have room for a couple, and you cant beat the price! Wish the turkey breasts were on sale too, since I love those for the crockpot...I think they were like .98 pound last week, even that isnt really too bad, so might grab a couple of those too.

I totally screwed up and slept through my middle of the night feeding, so I guess I had a bagel last night...DARN IT...I really need to put the alarm across the room so I have to get up and go turn it off, that way I wont roll over and go back to sleep!!

I see Natalie is back from Disney, so hopefully she will check in soon!

Gena - I know you are reading and not posting, so please drop in and at least let us know you are ok...I know things are just so hard and challenging for you right now...remember we LOVE YOU and we are here if you need to talk or vent or throw things or whatever!!:hug:

Kate - Im with you...where is everybody? Bev? Stwill? Pam? SharronLee? Sunnee? Tutu? even Jocelyn? OK everybody, time to come out and play!! We MISS YOU GUYS!!
 
I know about the Walmart sale, and boy am I pissed. I had already bought my Turkey at sweetbay! :mad:

If I can I would like to get at least one more small one for later. We don't have much freezer room. In Maine at this time of the year it was safe to store frozen meat on the enclosed porch. No, I am not kidding. It was an extra freezer until late March.

Sweet potato fries at Costco have corn starch in them! WTH! Better to cut one in half and make your own. Then you have control over the portion and the ingredients. JMHO.

Where on earth is the weight chart in the book? I've flipped through every page twice this am and can't find it.

While looking I stumbled on a paragraph about a lady that lost more weight than her husband because she wasn't exercising. She, however, was feeling weak and dizzy. It was because she had lost muscle, too, whereas her husband had just lost fat. He looked much smaller.

Those friends that have felt weak - are you exercising?? I thought this was a big ah-ha!

I miss everyone that is too busy to stop by, also! We love you!
 
I'm back to confess to really messing up since Friday :sad2: I was going to stay on step1 while my daughter was here. But then I started adding 11-20s when it suited my needs on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday after my daughter left I was so tired and depressed I ate Godiva chocolates and some 5x5s (multiple). Then I ate them again and last night, OMG! I was back in binge mode :sad1: I feel really terrible today. I need you guys to kick my butt back into gear! I got up today feeling sluggish and pissed at myself. Ate a step1 breakfast and made Jocelyn's ratatouille for my lunches at work next week. This is where, in the past, I would just slide into old bad habits permanently but NOT this time! Back to step1. Technically I probably cheated 4-5 times other than the back-to-back binge lastnight. Do you think step1 for 10 days is enough to get my L&P rested enough? I'm so glad you are here to help me get a grip !

Lisa, I am exercising more than I have in years. I'm not doing the heavy duty dancing anymore because I started hurting really bad from it. Not the good hurt, I like that one, the bad hurt like ow, I hurt myself. I'm carrying ceramic tiles making a garden, doing all kinds of projects like the decorating and stuff, moving furniture etc. Washing the floor standing up, all kinds of things that sound normal, but for me having been in bed most of the time for ten years or so, they are amazing. And I don't think I'm adapting because I keep doing more. But then I have days where it just feels like my body can't hold me up anymore. I keep going though because I'm able to, if that makes any sense. Oh, and walking long distances through the stores now without the aid of a shopping cart! Not yesterday though because I was having a can't hold myself up anymore day, lol.

One thing I could do is lift my weights more often. It seems like I never seem to have a few minutes of down time to sit and watch TV. Thats when I was doing it.

I got an answer from Diane. I'll post it separate so it's not confusing.

My message to Diane: Hi Diane! I'm doing great on step two! I feel so much better almost from the beginning I had more energy! I know I'm not supposed to be on the scale but I've dropped down more than five pounds. I do have a question though and am befuddled! I got a package of peas today so that I can use them for the 11-20 carb, and the book says to use 1/2 cup. But the package reads that half a cup won't even make 11 carbs when you minus the fiber. Is there something about peas that is different that only half a cup should be used, and is that enough for a carb dam? Thanks much!

Hmmmmmmmm.....low carb peas? Just teasing....if the food you are eating has a food label, you should use the label's guidelines. So happy to hear that you are happily on Step 2. Hey Nell......"Stay off the scale!!". Smiling here, Diane

Well, I'm glad you checked on those peas. Looks like you should have a more generous portion, but in a restaurant I think we have to go with the 1/2 cup and call it good, don't you? Did you see how lucky we were at Ruby Tuesday that the Step 2 items in our salads were exactly the right amount?? :)

Diane says if you mess up more than 3 times in a week go back to Step 1 for 10 days. She doesn't say how many times over 3 would warrant a longer stint so I think the 10 days should do it. :confused3 Of course you can ask :hug: Maybe I'll be able to figure it out myself. I'm wondering if I'd stopped to recognize my feelings at the time I would have stopped and realized I was feeding my depression, fatigue etc. I was really sore from all the walking we did in Seattle and sad that my girl had to leave so soon. I can tell you, if it wasn't for you all here I wouldn't have held myself accountable to get back on the wagon today. I was so ashamed but knew you all wouldn't beat me up too bad :grouphug:
