SEEMS TO ME THAT MLK WEEK/WEEKEND IS QUITE BUSY AT WDW. I TRIED TO CHANGE OUR HOTEL AND ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IS AVAILABLE..WELL SOME CONCIERGE WAS AVAILABLE BUT IM NOT PAYING THAT PRICE..I HEARD THE CROWDS WERE ALOT LESS AFTER NEW YEARS BUT I AM BEGINNING TO WONDER..:sad2:

MLK weekend is busy. President's weekend is busy. In Illinois we get off for Lincoln's birthday too, so that's another busy weekend. The east coast gets a winter break in Feb. Easter is early this year. So, I think that this winter will be a very busy Disney season.

DONT THINK IT WILL BE NEAR AS BAD AS THE SUMMER MONTHS OR CHRISTMAS..BUT IM SURE WE WILL NEED A FASTPASS HERE AND THERE

ANY holiday weekend is busy.
It won't be as bad as later in the year. But it will be busy, and more expensive to stay.

According to the touring experts, it is busier than the surrounding weeks, but not like mid-summer or spring break busy. We debated not going over the holiday, but really wanted to be there for DS's actual birthday, and reading both UG and TGM advice about the holiday weekend was very reassuring.

the 21st starts the slow time again. I wanted to change resorts on the 19th when we arrive and was told it was all full but I could have my choice on the 21st. I said I will stay at POR instead of packing up and moving.

Martin Luther King holiday. US Federal holiday so schools closed. Monday Jan 21st. Good weekend for folks in Florida to head to WDW.

Martin Luther King Weekend is now a "holiday" rate period. That higher pricing kept us from trying to go that weekend, though when we started calling, two weeks ago, rooms were also almost booked up already.

We decided to try the weekend before, but then realized Disney's new weekends cost more rate schedule is now in effect for 2008, so we opted to come Sunday, Jan 6 - Friday, Jan 11.

I think the days of coming to the World on weekends and holidays is over for us. Rates have priced me past my comfort zone. We were actually able to get an Annual Passholder discount on a King bed room at the Caribbean Beach for our dates, for only $115 a night. Not our first choice of resort, but calling at this late of a date, to get an AP rate at all at a moderate, and then to get a King bed room, I think that's a sign our dates will be fairly uncrowded.

MLK weekend will be I think much heavier this year than in the past, just because it's been the "thing" on the DIS this year for people to talk about how great January is a time to go! You know if one person is thinking it, then another 50,000 have the same idea.

wasnt trying to scream..the software i use at work requires me to use caps..so thats what I use during the day on all my stuff.

Not all weekends cost more. In Jan, jut MLK weekend is subject to the higher rate.

I don't think January will ever become a crowded time to go. DISers represent a very small percentage of Disney guests - most guests still plan around school breaks and other real world concerns than around crowd charts and wait times! :rotfl: I don't think *any* time is going to be as slow as it has been in years past, because travel and Disney attendance are both on an upswing, but there's a natural cap to the number of people willing and able to travel in the off-seasons, which is why they're off-seasons to begin with.

You're right! That's good news. The rumor had been that all Fri & Sat night stays were going to increase in price. I guess that will come another year?
