Is there anyway to better your chances of being picked to lead the MK parade or being chosen to open the park in the morning?

Yes!

It helps to be one of the first people there so you can be towards the front and strike up some convo with the CMs...so they get to know you a lil bit. Also might I recommend wearing anything and everything Disney that you own. This definetely helps draw attention!

Yes, it helps draw attention, but the CMs who choose the grand marshalls and opening families are also on the lookout for people who are trying TOO hard! To load yourself down with Disney shirts, shorts, shoes, hats, glasses, pins and purses may actually hurt your chances. They like to choose people who represent a cross-section of the guests in the park -- normal, everyday folks. Likewise, don't go up to every CM you see and ask, "Are you choosing for the parade?" Again ... being TOO eager won't help you. There's really no sure-fire way to get chosen. It's always a surprise, which is what it's supposed to be!
