MK might start serving alcohol!

Unless MK holds some festivals like F&W then the consumption will be no worse than AK or MGM and I've never seen problems at these two parks.

As for needing proof that Disney is "all about money" and "nostalgia no longer means anything to them", that ship sailed many, many years ago. You are living off the grace of Walt if you can still feel a little bit of that old magic way at WDW (I am happy for the people who do).

I think this will be good. Wait to see it.. but I love a good wine to relax with. DH loves a good beer at dinner, or sometimes relaxing with it.

I think the SMALL % of idiots to over consume should not ruin the majority of people who will either not consume, or consume a small enough amount to not be obnoxious.

I have never seen anyone drunk at AK or HS. Adding drinks at 2-3 places, like Gaston's Pub, Liberty Tree, and C R T totally makes sense. On so many levels. The only level it doesn't is the 1 little person that ruins it..

If this is true... Thank FRICKIN' GOD!!!!

Now maybe I'll be able to drown out the Small World song. It's a sadistic compulsion that I HAVE to ride it every time I'm down there and I can't get the song out of my head. And just when it starts to fade, I'll walk by a family that will be singing it... :scared1:

But, with a little help from my Buddy Weiser, the voices may be drowned out. Just have to make sure I don't ride the tea cups after. It could get messy.

Epcot is wonderful. Funny how many times I've been there -- and how many F&W festivals I've attended -- and never seen all the awful behavior described on the Dis.

But I have seen apparently sober people engage in some pretty horrific behavior on just about every trip.

Maybe these people just need a drink to calm them down.

I go to Epcot for dinner at least once a month and stay for fireworks and maybe once or twice have I ever seen people drunk and disorderly, and it was a group of young guys during F&W. Usually it's just average consumption, not the hot mess described sometimes. :confused3

In my experience I've been more bothered by screaming angry parents at MK trying to plow through their day and walk all over anyone in their way dragging whining kids behind. C'mon, you've all seen 'em. Wouldn't a drink take the edge off :thumbsup2

The combination of it's a small world and alcohol can only lead to one place...

All for it. I think comparing EPCOT to MK is a little off. EPCOT lends itself to a certain drinking style (Drinking Around the World), but Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom don't have the same effect.

That said, I've never seen a person drunk and obnoxious at EPCOT, doesn't mean it doesn't happen, because I could see it easily, but I don't see any issue with MK serving alcohol.

I really hope not...I know I'm going to be in the minority here but EPCOT is bad enough. I would hate to see people drunk at MK. If people were responsible I would say go for it. But people will be getting hammered drunk and there are way to many kids at MK that don't need to see 2 adults making out (basically having sex saw it at EPCOT a lot) or fighting or causing some sort of altercation because they can't control their alcohol consumption.

If it did happen it would show Disney is all about the $ now and nastalgia means nothing to them. I think Walt would fire anyone who even gave this idea any thought at all.

Wow, took the words right out of my mouth. Wouldn't be much of a "kids" place anymore. Don't know how many times we have seen, loud, obnoxious drunks roaming and stumbling and yelling all around Epcot. Hey, if a person can't control themself, they should not be drinking. :sad2:

PS: Your not in the minority as far as my wife and I are concerned......

IF they start serving alcohol to the public in the MK (note: they already serve it for private parties), I'm willing to bet it will be FAR more limited than in Epcot, where it is served in every WC pavilion and it has become something of a legendary challenge...

Agreed about DHS and AK, I almost don't even think about it.

I think the question about alcohol is much more about principle vs. real issues.

That said, I have seen nasty drunk behavior at Epcot, then again I was a contractor that worked there for an entire month during F&W so I've been there a bit more than most people.

My guess is it would be similar to AK and DHS -- just in the restaurants... and what, there's one bar over by the cantina? No beer kiosks like in some of the WS pavilions.

It would be nice if the new and existing restaurants each got a signature drink. And, of course beer in the two taverns. Sam Adams would seem to be a no-brainer for LTT. Something French for Gaston's? Doubt they'll be that creative -- WDW's beer selection is nothing to get excited over...

Actually, having some inebriated types around the parks can add color, particularly if you can herd them towards the live music. Here are some great examples from Epcot:

This one starts off a little slow, but starts getting fun at about 33 seconds in:

I'm sure Morockin enjoys this type of stuff in the audience:

More fun at the Morocco pavillion (what is it about that place...). To capture this, the person shooting the video had to kind of hide his phonecam, which is why the vid is sideways

O.k. I've been to DW 11 times. And each trip we've been to Epcot at least once. Never have I seen someone out of control. Are some people loud or goofy? Sure, but I see that EVERY trip at MK or talk about crazy... There's always that guy in the TSM line who gets loud and obnoxious because the line is forever long and he's getting anxious. My point is, I think people blow stuff out of proportion. Look at it like this...if it's a problem, then shouldn't the blame go on whoever is serving these people? If people don't have self control, then someone needs to step in and control it for them.

I have no problem with MK serving alcohol. It's part of society and part of life. Is it what Walt wanted? No, but I'm pretty sure they've steered away from what he wanted a long time ago.

I say serve it up and I'll toast one to Gaston when I'm there!

I think some of the restaurants might improve (at least for me) if they DID serve alcohol.

But in the MK I would hope that would be it--absolutely NO wandering around the park swilling beer out of a paper cup. IN the restaurants ONLY. Nothing sold at a kiosk, etc.

And by the way, my guess is that it's nothing BUT a rumor...

I'm definately on board with the two of you. Being a 17 year old HS senior i base my pride off of not participating in the "cool" things society tells us to do.The world tells us it's the cool thing to do "drugs, sex, and alchol", and I take pride in resisting those things. It's a daily struggle teens, and now kids at a very small age have to deal with daily.I have always thought of Disney world (especially the Magic Kingdom) as an escape from worldly struggles.A place to escape worries of the world and have an overwhelming pleasurable experience.

I truly believe bringing Alcohol to the MK is inappropriate. In my honest opinion that would be going against everything Walt desired, and dreamed for this "magical" place to be.Now this is not intended for those who are responsible with alcohol and can control themselves. I believe there are appropriate places at WDW for people 21+ who want to sit down and enjoy a drink.Exposing it to the MK and to people who cant control themselves, will lead to absolute DISASTER imho...
Thanks!
GOD BLESS!:thumbsup2

When will they start selling beer in the line queues like at Universal's Island of Adventure? To me that goes too far.

That said, serving beer/wine at the sit-down restaurants (for consumption only in the restaurant) wouldn't be a bad thing.

+2.
every park ape behaviour I've seen has come from stone cold sober moms with kids.

I wouldn't mind a nice glass of wine at dinner.

I wonder how disney-paris has been able to successfully do it. evidently they couldn't get people to visit until they did start to serve alcohol.
