Does ANYONE know when the construction begins?

AFAIK, it's just starting in the backstage areas.

It will be many months before the construction begins encroaching on the areas
that guests can see.

That is yet another reason why I am on this board everyday. I am too waiting on some word about when the construction will begin. You would think something as huge as an entire "Land" overhaul would have some solid dates at least a year in advance

That stinks...my in-laws haven't been to WDW yet and we are going with them in Nov. 2010. Plus my lil guy loves Mickey and Minnie's houses!

An article I read mentioned that the houses were to be moved. No idea where, tho...they don't really fit in with the other theming in MK.

Jim Hill is reporting today that "Toontown Fair could close for dismantling as early as the first of the year".

And we all know how reliable Jim Hill is.

I've seen postings from people who were at the D23 convention that reported an imagineer said construction would not be noticable to park guests until late 2010. I'd believe that before I'd believe Jim Hill.

Here is an article from the "examiner.com" stating the 4 major areas of the rehab and the approx dates. According to the article, dated 9/12/09, Mickey and Minnie's "houses" will be moved to Main St USA.

I don't think we know that they ARE, in fact, "keeping the houses."

Unfortunately, with all of this good news, comes some bad news. To accommodate the expansion, some

existing areas will need to be leveled including most of ToonTown Fair including Mickey's and Minnie's houses.

Where will the big cheese and his sweetheart live? That's easy, near Main Street, USA.

The reporter's language (and likely the Disney INFO) was kind of vague, about just what "living near Main Street" means, exactly.

Everything is just too sketchy at this early point to draw any final conclusions.

The first phase of the new Fantasyland expansion will include the Journey of the Little Mermaid attraction as well as the other princess areas and will debut in 2012. Pixie Hollow will follow in 2013 which is when the entire land will be completed.



So what does this mean for the Dumbo area? What section would that be considered to be in?
Gosh, I wish I knew when in 2012 it will open... so I can plan which month to go in.
